real estate: Hawaii Island Lava-Flow Hazard Zones Explained
- 11/22/21 12:57 PM
Hawaii Island has three active volcanos. While the risk of having a lava flow inundate any individual property on the island is low, the hazard is not the same in all areas. The USGS geologists and volcanologists put together a series of Lava-Flow Hazard Maps over the years, most recently in 1992. This map has 9 hazard zones with lava zone 1 being the most hazardous and 9 considered to have the least hazard of lava flow inundation. In developing these maps, they took into consideration topography and rift zones around the active and dormant volcanos on the island. Lava-flow hazard zones

Get a Free Kahakai Estates Home Valuation The Kahakai Estates Subdivision is a popular gated neighborhood in Kailua-Kona. Originally built in 2003 by Stanford Carr LLC. the Kahakai Estates offered 4 models of homes to choose from on lots that range from 1/2 to 1.75 acres. real estate: Outrigger Canoe Races in Kailua-Kona
- 06/11/12 08:24 AM
I rode my bike to Kailua Bay to go for a swim this weekend and saw that they were having outrigger canoe races. Outrigger canoe clubs are very popular out here in Hawaii. Just about any coastal town has a club and on occasion they all get together and compete. Outrigger canoes have always been an important part of Hawaiian culture. For over a thousand years in Hawaii, they were the fastest mode of transportation available. Having the fastest and strongest team has always been a source of pride in a community. I see these clubs training hard along the Kona

Canadians Buying Real Estate In Kailua-Kona, Hawaii - Helpful Tips Canadians have known for a long time now that Kona, Hawaii is the place to go to take a break from their cold Winter weather. The Kona Coast is the only part of the Hawaiian Islands that has it's dry season during Winter. I can't tell you how many times i've turned on the news during Winter months to see flash floods in Oahu and Kauai while we are enjoying sunny dry weather in Kona. Often, Canadians choose to buy a home or condominium in Kona as an investment that

real estate: Walk To The Beach in Kona, Hawaii
- 03/20/12 09:15 AM
Walk To The Beach In Kona, Hawaii I often have home buyers ask about homes within walking distance to the beach in Kona. From a home buying perspective it raises a few interesting topics unique to Kailua-Kona that should be discussed with clients. First, and maybe surprisingly, homes that are walking distance to the beach (up to about 1/2 mile) do not cost much, if at all, more than homes in Kona that would require driving to the beach. This may come as a shock to people living in say, Southern California where homes in the beach walkability zone command

real estate: Bayview Estates - Kona Neighborhood Video Tour
- 01/27/12 08:24 AM
Bayview Estates - Kona Neighborhood Video Tour Bayview Estates is one of Kailua-Kona's Premier neighborhoods. Located in the Keauhou area of Kailua-Kona, this gated upscale development features custom built single family homes and vacant lots, many with panoramic Kona coastline views. I really like Bayview Estates, the setting is beautiful, from the landscaped streets to the terraced lots that maximize the ocean views, it is a well designed upscale neighborhood. Monthly maintenance fees are just over $200 which is very reasonable. Most of the lots are 15,000 to 18,000 square feet with building pads and in many cases, rock walls.

real estate: Beaches of Kona Video Tour - Mahaiula Beach
- 11/17/11 10:54 AM
Beaches of Kona video tour - Mahaiula Beach Mahaiula Beach is located within the Keha Kai State Park about 8 miles North of Kailua-Kona. The access road off of Hwy 11 is between mile markers 88 and 89. The 1.5 mile road is unpaved and full bumps and potholes; but it doesn't seem to deter the tourists from taking their rental cars across the desolate looking lava field. Just a short walk from the parking area is a picture perfect tropical cove with plenty of shade and deep sand. The stunning contrast between the desert lava fields and the lush

Kailua-Kona Beaches Video Tour - White Sands Beach A couple hours at White Sands Beach is always a good time. White Sands is located right in town so it's easy to drop in and go for a swim or body surf a few waves. This is Kona's community beach, it's not big but there's always room for everyone. White Sands Beach in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii is always an entertaining place to sit and people watch. If you want a quiet, secluded beach to relax on, Kona has plenty to choose from. If you are looking for a vibrant, fun beach

- 11/08/11 10:41 AM
Kailua-Kona Real Estate Market Update October 2011 The Hawaii Island real estate market statistics are in and the numbers continue to show signs of stability. In October of 2011, 127 homes sold island wide, an increase of 12.39%. This is a continuation of the trend that shows 8.5% more homes sold on the Island year to date in comparison to 2010. Another trend in Hawaii Island real estate sales is the slowing

real estate: Buying Bargain Kona Hawaii Vacation Homes
- 11/02/11 04:44 PM
Buying Bargain Kona Hawaii Vacation Homes Home prices in Kailua-Kona Hawaii, like many other places have seen substantial decreases since the market peak in late 2007. Recent market data in Kailua-Kona, HI has shown prices remaining flat but the number of homes and condominiums sold, increasing. Rather than going into the old "there's never been a better time to buy" pitch, I am going to point to a real estate market niche that is performing extremely well through these difficult times. I am referring to the vacation home rental market in Kailua-Kona , Hawaii. Vacation home rentals have become very popular across

real estate: Beaches Of Kona Video Tour - Kua Bay
- 10/25/11 11:42 AM
Beaches Of Kona Video Tour - Kua Bay Kua Bay is one of my favorite Kona Beaches. Located in the Kehaka Kai State Park, in a spectacular setting, Kua Bay is about 10 miles North of Kailua-Kona off of Hwy 11 between mile markers 88 and 89 and surrounded by lava fields. The powdery white sand is soft on the feet and the water is warm, clear and perfect for a refreshing swim. Weekends can be a little crowded but during the week you can almost have the place all to yourself. Bring your mask and fins to snorkel around the
