dogs: Sometimes life...and dogs....get in the way! - 09/17/11 04:58 PM
So I'm in the middle of my September 30 in 30.  Had my brillient piece of localism all planned out... I was planning to go out for an early evening out and on getting back at about 9 PM to finish this off.  But Jade had other plans....
As I was getting ready to leave, I let the dogs out in the yard to run.  When I called them in, they all came running - Buddy - check!  Tundra - check!  Uhmmmm....where's Jade? Suddenly I heard some whimpering and loud crying.  I couldn't find her ANYWHERE but I could hear her!  … (14 comments)

dogs: Tundra the Driving Dog..... - 05/15/08 09:11 PM
During the early 90's I enjoyed the exploits of "Toonces the Driving Cat" sketch on Saturday Night Live. the sketch in the link was typical of the antics of Toonces and his addled human "parents" Lyle and Brenda (Dana Carvey and Victoria Jackson.) It is worth enjoying if you have a minute. Those who know me as a pet-friendly Realtor know that I often take my Siberian Huskies Jade and Tundra out on the road with me. One day I had both of them with me one day and they were anticipating a run in one of their favorite dog parks. … (15 comments)

dogs: Lost & Found: Rescued kitten in need of new family..... - 04/25/08 09:17 PM
It was the night before my famous "tax extension experience." I was running late trying to get all my deduction ducks lined up in a row and was planning on a long night. But I needed to run a couple of errands. There was no food in the house - at least not for people and my car was running on gasoline vapors. I decided to get the gasoline first and I drove into the gas station bleary over all I had done and what was yet to come. As I was pumping my gasoline I noticed a small animal dodging … (12 comments)

dogs: Animal Humor: How many dogs does it take to screw in a lightbulb??? - 04/10/08 05:29 PM
Here is the next installment on my series of animal (pet) humor. Once again, I do not know who was responsible for this list so I will just present it and add one more breed of dog to the list..the Siberian Husky. Since I have two of them, I feel it is an appropriate addition. For those who have dog breeds not mentioned here - try adding your own response. Let's have some fun!

dogs: Funny Animal Stories: Jesus is Watching You! - 03/29/08 02:43 AM
Every once in a while, I will be posting a humorous animal story. I know that the hard-core real estate people on this forum may well cringe at this practice, but since my niche is pet-friendly real estate, I think that its a nice way to inject some humor into the stress and strain of selling and buying homes.
The story this week has been around the internet for a while...its origins are unknown, but I found a link for it here.
This is the story - Have a great weekend everyone.

dogs: It's a Dog's Life - The Secret Life of Humphrey the Newfoundland - 03/16/08 02:43 AM
Sometimes its just fun to post something that has nothing to do with real estate. Since dogs are one of my passions, a friend sent me this story in an email:
An old, tired-looking dog wandered into the yard.  I could tell from his collar and well-fedbelly that he had a home. He followed me into the house, down the hall, and fell asleep in a corner. An hour later, he went to the door, and I let him out.The next day he was back, resumed his position in the hall, and slept for an hour.  This continued for several weeks.Curious, I … (29 comments)

dogs: Dog Diaries - The History of my Canine Family.... - 02/09/08 07:42 PM
A couple of people have asked me how i came to own Siberian Huskies.  To be sure it is not like owning Labrador Retrievers or German Shepherds and the like. The truth be told, I came to love the breed quite by accident.  Many of you know the history of Harley who passed away somewhere between 15.5-16 years of age this past spring. But as I was going about loading pictures onto my new computer, I saw such nice shots of my dogs both past and present, that I thought I would share the pictures and say something about the personalities … (6 comments)

dogs: The Peacable Kingdom: The Hartsdale Pet Cemetery - Hartsdale, NY 10530 - 01/01/08 09:36 PM
One of the major sights of interest in Hartsdale, NY is the Hartsdale Canine Cemetery.  Established in 1896, Hartsdale Canine Cemetery has the distinction of being the nations first pet cemetery.  It all began by accident when Dr. Samuel Johnson, a practicing veterinarian in Manhattan and renowned professor of veterinary surgery at New York Hospital offered a spot in his apple orchard located in the remote countryside of Hartsdale, NY to a client who wanted a proper burial for her dog. If the woman was willing to make the trip, he was happy to allow her to bury her best friend … (6 comments)

dogs: The Condo/Coop Buyers Survival Guide for People with Pets – Part I - 12/29/07 07:24 PM
What can be more frustrating, exciting, rewarding, scary, exhausting, and down right daunting than buying a home?  Try buying one when you have a pet – more  specifically – try buying a condo or coop when your room mate happens to be a dog.  The restrictions and caveats are numerous.  At the very least, they will create bumps in the road – that will severely restrict buying options.  At worst they can be a minefield and a major obstacle to home ownership. The extent to which this impacts a buyers ability to purchase a condo/coop is a varied as the individual … (5 comments)

dogs: Jade & Tundra Wish Everyone a Merry Christmas - from Sleepy Hollow, NY 10591 - 12/25/07 02:50 AM
The snow was gone - unfortunately...but it was quite cold on Christmas Eve Day when I took Jade and Tundra to the Dog Park at Kingsland Point Park in Sleepy Hollow, NY.   Dogs need exercise - particularly Siberian Huskies - and with the two days that were ahead, I knew that what they needed was a great run in the park to burn off the excess energy. And run they did!
Here are a few photos of them standing still.....

dogs: Yonkers Animal Shelter Needs Your Blankets....(Yonkers, NY 10704) - 12/20/07 05:35 PM

What do these dogs have in common?  No, they aren't all mine  - I may be crazy about dogs, but I'm not that crazy - although I do claim Buddy - the blue eyed dog as my own.  These dogs were all adopted from shelters or could have easily ended up in shelters.
The Yonkers Animal Shelter has almost 90 dogs in residence right now and many do not have blankets to keep them warm.  For Westchester residents who are reading this blog - if you have extra old blankets you are no longer using, could you drop them off at … (3 comments)

dogs: Bark & Meow of Tarrytown, NY - 11/22/07 09:41 PM
For pet-lovers everywhere, here is a wonderful upscale pet store that is on every well-dressed pets list.  Bark & Meow has a wonderful assortment of  items for almost every need.  I was introduced to pet –blinkers (mentioned on a previous blog) at this store.  I’ve bought several adjustable collars for my three dogs.  Tundra is now on her second collar.  I also bought  a couple of terrific 6-foot leashes that are excellent for training purposes.  The assortment is amazing.  They even have “political sweatshirts” for your pet to sport his or her political preferences…One thing they have which I tend not … (3 comments)

dogs: Happy Halloween - From Jade & Tundra at Kingsland Point Park's Dog Park in Sleepy Hollow, NY - 10/30/07 07:26 PM
One day my vet was looking at one of my white Siberian Huskies one day when she had a distinctly gray tinge around the neck.  It was coming from the tag on her collar.  She shook her head and said “It’s hard to be a white dog!”  Another vet that I use for surgeries laughed when he saw the two “girls” and said – “White dogs always like to roll in the mud!” Often, I forget just HOW white these guys are.  So, I decided for a special treat, that it was time to have Jade and Tundra professionally groomed. Buddy … (2 comments)
