Here on Maui the quality of the air is excellent, and a lot of the air pollution comes from the volcanic activity at Kilauea. Since we can't control or predict vog from the volcano the EPA was wondering if there should be restrictions on man-made pollutions. Most of the man-made air pollutants here on Maui are caused by Maui Electric Company's coal-fired generators, agricultural burning, and emissions from vehicles, aircrafts, and ships. However, according to the EPA the future of clean Maui air is looking good and they did not find it necessary to implement pollution controls for Maui through 2018. … (0 comments)

South Maui is always active with fun events for visitors and residents alike. This month will forsee performances, food festivals, the Maui Film Festival, and the South Maui Triathlon. The South Maui Triathlon will take place on Sunday, June 10th this year in Wailea. The event includes 1.5K Swim Course, followed by a 40K Bike Course, and wrapping up with a 10K Running Course. Eclipse Development Group's new Maui Outlets shopping center is scheduled to begin construction soon. The nearly $300 million dollar project is intended to draw Maui tourists and state-wide local shoppers to the site.
