Are You Aware That YOU Know Several Languages?
All my life I have wanted to learn a foreign language, especially French because it so beautiful, but I never found the time or patience to learn. Maybe the problem was that I never found the teaching method that worked for me.
Living close to an Air Force base I've observed there is nothing like being thrown into a situation where you had to learn... to learn.
This morning it dawned on me that I actually know several "foreign" languages, some quite well and one or two just barely. I also realized … (10 comments)

WE'VE GOT A PAIR....
On my Christmas vacation in San Juan TX I saw a highway billboard with the large intro line "We've Got A Pair..." and it certainly caught my attention. Who would say that?             Can they say that?
Who was a law firm.
If anyone would know if they can say it I'd guess a law firm would know.
What else did it say? Underneath two side by side pictures of buildings in much smaller print it said: "Of offices to better serve you." or something like that.
OK, the reference was obvious and … (4 comments)

bob timm national marketing realtors minot nd: Had To Laugh at This Sign - 01/08/15 10:09 AM

I was reading posts on sayanythingblog.com and came across this yard sign.

If you ever feel like AR is a little uncivil at times head to sayanythingblog.com and read the bloggers bludgeoning each other over there. Sayanythingblog.com is for all political points of view and you will never hear "Can't we all just get along". I myself had a recent post there and felt like a punching bag... but it was fun anyway. BUILDING PERMITS ARE A GOOD INDICATOR

As you can see from the stats above, published in The Minot Daily News and provided by the Minot Building Inspection Office, the building "BOOM" following the oil boom is tapering off. More facts should be considered to come to any logical conclusions.

As a Broker/Owner of a small agency my line of thinking is: Home prices in the Minot ND area are NOT going to drop anytime soon. The market is very tight right now with only about 150 single family homes for sale in a market of 50,000 people. The … (4 comments)

WHAT AN END TO 2014 / WHAT A START TO 2015

No one really knows what the population is in a boom town but one could make a reasonable guess that Minot ND is sitting around 50,000 and still growing rapidly. To me the following numbers are remarkable for a city/town of 50,000.
Today, January 1st 2015 there are only 138 single family homes on the MLS*. They break down like this:
Homes under $100,000     5
$100,000 to $199.999        29
$200,000 to $249,000        21
$250,000 to $299,999        18

North Dakota, It's An Honest Cold.

I'm not trying to offend anyone or call anyone a wuss but after coming home from Southern Texas to North Dakota I just want to say I welcome ND Cold, it's an honest cold. I realize it's all relative but my goodness it's hard not to say some of the people I saw down there are real wuss's.
At 50 degrees above zero I saw people wearing parkas that we wouldn't dawn in ND if the temp was zero or above. My kids and I went to the pool in our swim suits and it was closed … (8 comments)

JAMMING WITH THE OLDIES
While visiting with my step-father we had the privilage of attending a "Jam Session" at The Grove, the retirement park he lives in. It was really a treat.

There were about two dozen musicians and each one took a turn at the mike. It was mostly old Bob Wills type of music and the majority of singers sounded like me (not good) but it gave me hope and joy that when I get somewhere like this people won't care what I sound like but applaud because you were willing to stand up and be part … (5 comments)

Jack Frost Imitating Barbed Wire
This is the scene we had this morning after an overnight fog that froze.

Having lived up North all my life I've seen lots of Jack Frost's work but never the barbed wire look pictured above. What a creative God we have! My kids have been blessed with great artistic tallent but it's nice to see the Masters work whom all artists get their tallent from.

Just Saying...
Shortly after becoming a Real Estate professional I saw the wisdom of becoming a Notary Public so I could close mobile home sales right in the office. That was quite a few years ago and I still have not used my Notary authority to do just that. I have done hundreds, if not thousands of notarization's but not a one Mobile home sale.     This morning I received an email from The National Notary Association wishing me "Happy Holidays". I understand the political climate and that it's unpopular to be a person of faith, especially if you have unwavering … (0 comments)

MY HHR... GOT ANY POINTERS?

Time for a Timm family new (used) car. My Bride needed newer, more reliable wheels so we went used car shopping. As much as I would like to have found one at a local dealership we had bad luck with that plan. Instead we did have good luck with our local on line want ad company, Bismanonline.com.
We are planning a trip for this spring and being this car is new to us I thought I'd ask you if there are any features to this car we should be aware of to make … (2 comments)

bob timm national marketing realtors minot nd: AMOS HAS A NEW HOME - 12/15/14 10:55 PM

I remember the day well. We (my Bride of 15 years and our then 12 and 13 year old kids) had purchased an aquarium at a rummage sale down the street. Just a 10 gallon aquarium it should be a piece of cake to maintain.
My confirmation present (about 100 years ago) was an aquarium and it brought me much enjoyment for about 30 years until the slate bottom sprung a leak (that's a lesson on abrasion I need to tell). Anyhow I wanted to share the joy of aquarium ownership with my kids.
This was not a lesson in owning and … (5 comments)

I LOVE FLYING... WITHOUT A PLANE!

I don't know if it has something to do with my upcoming vacation or my brain just needed a little mental vacation but last night I had one of those fabulous dreams of flying.
This wasn't one of those fearful dreams one has as a child but the glorious kind where you have complete control and like an angel you can fly from one beautiful scene to another or from one loved one to another.
I love that dream. I wake up refreshed and eager to have a GREAT day.
Here's hoping the next rest … (4 comments)

bob timm national marketing realtors minot nd: AFFORDABLE HOME IN MINOT ND - 11/10/14 12:28 AM

Affordable housing in Minot ND is somewhat of a oxymoron with prices that have pretty much tripled over the last 5 years (due to our oil boom and other positive growth factors). Considering our wonderful financial circumstances in Minot this house is the gem many families are looking for who can not afford our average home price of over $300,000.

MMLS#142718

Great starter home! 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath. This house has newer shingles, furnace, flooring and appliances. Very large fenced yard is perfect for kids and pets. Optional additional lot adjacent  available. Unfinished basement has a high ceiling … (7 comments)

Broker Bob, It's Official!!!

It's official! Broker Bob! To be absolutely precise it's Broker Associate but we are already looking to change that at the first of the year.
It's been a very long year of studying and defending myself against false accusations but now I can say it's all been worth it. I went into take the test with very little self confidence but by the grace of God I passed with flying colors.
Now the focus is on helping my Broker realize his dream of retirement and swapping titles with him as he plans on retaining his license … (8 comments)
