bob timm national marketing realtors minot nd: Minot's Eastwood Park Christmas Lights - 12/18/15 09:23 AM

Minot's Eastwood Park Christmas Lights
I just drove through Minot's Historical District, Eastwood Park, after dropping my daughter off at her friends and I thought I'd take a few pics along the way. The decorating is far from spectacular but these two homes looked pretty good so I thought I'd share. Of course it might have helped if I would have had my camera along instead of using my phone. Despite the look of the pics I was parked when I took the shots.

bob timm national marketing realtors minot nd: One and Done, Bob's Christmas Shopping Trip - 12/18/15 05:07 AM

One and Done, Bob's Christmas Shopping Trip
One trip to Walmart and I'm done! This may have been my easiest Christmas shopping season yet. Of course it helps that me Bride does 99.9% of the shopping so I just went out and got stocking stuffer stuff.
I may have to go more often however because this trip was very good for my ego.
One pretty young lady told me how much she LOVED my cologne and was a bit flirty (it was a sample I tried on in the store so maybe she worked for Walmart and said that to all the old men).
Another pretty … (8 comments)

bob timm national marketing realtors minot nd: Another #1 For North Dakota - 12/17/15 10:02 PM

Another #1 For North Dakota
GREAT News! It was recently announced that North Dakota is the ONLY State that spent 100% of the funds made available by the Federal government to educate our children on the hazards of smoking.
North Dakota's proactive roll has been reported to cut the number of North Dakota teen smokers in half since the institution of this program.
I hope other States will follow North Dakota's lead and use all the money made available to them by the Fed via cigarette taxes to help educate our youth about the dangers of smoking. North Dakota's example of cutting the teen smoking rate in half … (5 comments)

I'm Crying Foul
OK, actually I'm not doing anything but venting. Last week I sold both sides of a town house. A developer built a duplex which sat on the market for a while but not to long. He planned on building several of these duplex homes while our market was really moving with the oil boom. I brought 3 buyers to his agent and I have several more lined up. After I brought those 3 he got it in gear and is building more units. With 2 duplex's up and my selling 3 of the 4 units I got the Buyers permission to … (12 comments)

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

I just took this photo this afternoon. After this weekends snow and then the way the fog "Frosts" the trees it's really beginning to look a lot like Christmas. The tree to the left is the same one below that I had blogged about with soft needles that turn gold in the fall, drop off in the winter, and come back green again in the spring. You can read that post HERE

Tonight My Daughter Is In The Back Of A Police Car
You know I spend a lot of time bragging about my kids but tonight my darling little daughter is in the back of a police car!
15 year old, honor student, very involved in church and ROTC, now in the back of a squad car.
Oh wait!!! It's a good thing. Tina is now involved in a youth program for the police department.
This will be her 3rd night out and she will receive a T-shirt in recognition of her involvement with the program. I think it's a neat program for kids to learn … (8 comments)

How To Change Your Furnace Filter

No homeowner chore is easy if you are a newhome owner and you don't have a clue how to do it or even that you have to do it. Once you know how to change your furnace filter it will be one of the easiest homeowners chores you will have to do.

My Son Is Losing His Cookies
Timmothy has been asking Mom all week if they could start making Christmas cookies. Today they started and already they are disapearing almost as fast as they come out of the oven. As Bart Simpson would say: It wasn't me, nobody saw me, ya can't prove it, wasn't me!

bob timm national marketing realtors minot nd: It's So Slippery... - 12/11/15 01:08 AM

It's So Slippery...
We have had unseasonably warm weather this Fall/Winter and today started out with a light rain. With the temp right at the freezing mark and dropping our City streets were like ice skating rinks.
Minot is NOT know to be proactive when it comes to sanding City Streets. The joke here is that the body shops pay them NOT to go out until the first 100 accidents.
So HOW SLIPPERY IS IT? On my way back to the office from a visit I saw a sanding truck turn at a residential intersection and slide across the road to mow over a stop … (10 comments)

I Believe There Comes A Time...
Now I believe there comes a time
when everything just falls in line.
We live and learn from our mistakes.
The deepest cuts are healed by FAITH.
(From All Fired Up by Pat Benitar)
This song really spoke to me today when I heard it in the car. I've gone through a whole lot of crap in the last couple of years earning my Brokers license and in doing so encountering a lot of nasty resistance from so called fellow Christians. Also it's not been easy starting my own company with no real mentor. BUT lately I'm feeling like I "made … (9 comments)

Flood Insurance In Minot North Dakota
There are a lot of misconceptions going around about flood insurance in Minot North Dakota. I hope the following will help some people understand better what is actually happening in the Mouse River Valley of Minot North Dakota.
Rates have not increased since the flood of 2011. Here is my most recent Flood Insurance Statement:
You can see My home is insured for $200,000. and it's contents as insured for $80,000. My annual premium is $429.00.
When I moved to Minot and purchased a home 2 blocks from the river I wanted flood insurance, it was not mandatory. Because it was … (5 comments)

The Drone vs Rudolph

It was another beautiful day with temps far above normal so we broke out the drone once again. This time I did not get footage from the drone it's self but I videoed my son fly it... right into Rudolph. Rudolph won the battle and the arm that had broke off broke off once again.
We glued it back on and made several more flights with moderate success but the warm weather was brought to us by some gusty wind and we decided it would be best to suspend operations until the wind subsided.

This Mornings Men's Breakfast @ OSLC

Home made biscuits, gravy, and scrambled eggs were on today's menu for the Our Saviors Lutheran Church (Missouri Synod) Men's Breakfast this morning as well as information and a study called The Great Divide. It was a discussion about the differences between Islam and Christianity. It was very well put together and considering it was supposed to be a one week study of two hour lessons, one lesson per day, we did really well to get through the entire thing in 2 hours.
I felt it was leaving people in a bit of a state of despair so at the very end … (4 comments)

Friday Photo, This Mornings Dawn.

My little camera didn't do a very good job of catching the beauty of this mornings dawn but trust me it was very colorful and with the sun not coming up till about 8:00 AM these days an early sunrise like this is highlighted by the thick darkness around it (hope that makes sense).

Realtor Ring Day
Today was Realtor Ring day in Minot. The Minot Board of Realtors started this tradition about 20 years ago. A few years ago it went State wide and recently several other States have joined the Realtor Ring Day tradition.
In the past my daughter had joined me but this year my shift came when she was still in school. I'm thinking maybe her and I will take another shift yet this season.

Christmas Mugs
My Bride has an extensive collection of Christmas mugs. I thought why not take a Christmas Mug Shot. She has about 6 large totes of mugs that sit in a garden shed for 11 months of the year but for one glorious month they take over the Timm household. This is that month.
If you are looking to list your house come to National Marketing Realtors, we have the best service and our rates will not leave you feeling "mugged".

It's The Time Of Year To Feed The...
SQUIRRELS!
If you are new to "Bird Feeding" you will find this to be a familial scene once you set up your bird feeder. It might make you smile or it might make you mad to see this uninvited guest at your feeder.
If it makes you mad there are ways to outsmart a squirrel (but you will find these little guys are pretty ingenious when it comes to filling their stomachs. The best device is made for pole feeders like the one pictured. It looks like a salad bowl that slides unto the pole … (8 comments)

Bob and the Drone, Rounds 2 and 3
Success and Defeat!
Success: I got the drone to do a fairly steady hoover for at least 10 seconds and I got it to take some pics and a video. (video below)
Defeat: Aside from the typical crashes I got it stuck HIGH up in a tree and in the process I broke the drone. Hopefully the glue required to make it whole will not throw it off to much.

bob timm national marketing realtors minot nd: The Drone, Day 1 - 11/28/15 08:23 AM

Day One, the drone wins the battle of the wits.
Here is what I learned on my 1st day as a drone pilot.
1) Owning a drone and reading the directions does not qualify you as a drone pilot.
2) Being an adult does not qualify you as a drone pilot.
3) They are serious when they say "do not try this indoors". They also mean it when they say find a BIG open space to practice.
4) Your drone can fly under a car and get stuck there.
5) Your drone can fly into a tree and get stuck there.
6) Adults, 14 year olds, and 15 … (41 comments)
