Minot City Hall, Know Where It Is ???
Minot's City Hall is not the easiest place to find if you are not real familiar with the City of Minot but it's a good idea to know where it is. It may help a few of you to know it's that building across from the Library but then again the Library is just as hard to find as City Hall.
Let me tell you the easiest routes but still "Google" it and look it up on Google Maps.

Central Ave in Minot is now OPEN!
It almost seems like a miracle to see Minot's Central Ave open to traffic again. Although this downtown portion of Central Ave in Minot is just a few blocks long it's being closed had totally screwed up downtown traffic for the entire Spring/Summer seasons.
Just like armchair quarterbacks wonder what there team quarterback and/or coach was thinking many of us wondered if the City Engineer had a brain at all. Well now that it's open I'm sure everyone will think he was a genius.

I knew Jack!
Jack was my dog. I’m sorry to have to use the past tense, “knew” Jack and “was” my dog but Jack passed away last night after 16 years of being a very faithful companion.
Jack was born to Samantha, a registered yellow Labrador, and his father was an unknown little terrier that must have known how to use a ladder.
Jack had a yellow lab head and body, a long wiry coat that had to be shaved twice a year and about 6” legs. Jack weighed 40 pounds and was very solid.

My kids, Tina and Timmothy. This shot was taken during a family photo shoot and I added the wording to have a Christmas coffee mug made for my Bride, their mother. I believe the picture was taken in the fall of 2013, and again I had the coffee mug made for the 2013 Christmas mug. In 2014 the kids both had real growth spirits and now Timmothy is the tallest member of the Robert Timm family at 5'11" and the age of 14 years old.

Happy 126th Birthday North Dakota!
I am so happy to be raising my children in the State of ND where they get to experience the four seasons, the nations lowest unemployment rates (3%) and such a huge abundance of natural resources.
Here are a few interesting tidbits about North Dakota.
ND grows more sunflowers than any State.
ND produces more honey than any other State.
ND carries, and has for years, the highest State budget excess of funds.
Despite being the 2nd biggest oil producer in the US (and growing) agriculture is still the States #1 industry.

The Snow Has Been Flying In Minot ND
WOW! We went from unseasonably high temps to below normal in record time this week.
The snow has been flying as our temps have been hovering around the freezing mark.
It's been very light, dry snow so very little has accumulated but none the less in cracks and crevices it has accumulated.
While this little bit will surely dissipate shortly it's a good reminder to get your vehicles serviced for winter. With much of our population coming from different areas of the country I want to urge all to leave a little earlier to get to your destination and … (10 comments)

FOG, Nothing Romantic About Dying In it!
Fog can be romantic if you are walking hand in hand with your lover down a familiar street but there is nothing romantic about dying in a car crash because of foggy conditions.
One may be surprised at how often we have fog in Western ND in the fall but it is a pretty common occurrence. I know I was surprised when I moved out here to see such thick fog when the temperature is hovering around (above and below) the freezing mark.

Can You Identify This Pine?
This tree is very unusual in our area, in fact this is the only one I'm aware of in Minot. In the summer it has soft green needles, in the fall they turn yellow as it is pictured, and it sheds it's needles in the winter.

BOO at the Minot ND Roosevelt Park Zoo
Today was the annual Boo at the Zoo for the Roosevelt Park Zoo in Minot ND. I wish I would have got the word out earlier but now that my kids are to old to participate I totally forgot until our street rapidly filled up with costumed children and adults. It was a huge turn out and the best Boo at the Zoo I can remember. I got to wander through and get pics for my blog.

Larry Sundbakken
I was shocked to read in today's paper at the passing of Larry Sundbakken. It was only a brief statement that he passed away at the age of 68. Larry was one of the "Good Guys" in this industry. He was a Broker Associate/Co-Owner at Signal Realtors here in Minot ND. Larry never had a bad thing to say about anyone and he was encouraging to everyone. Call Before You Fax... Yes I Said Fax
Today I canceled my dedicated Fax line. While it's tempting to put the old fax machine in the back room along with other electronic dinosaurs we really should be keeping them around a bit longer.
The thing about Fax's are they can NOT be hacked. They are still a secure way to send information and for some legal documents they are the only recognized "copy" we can use.
Using a Fax you do not need to use complicated encryption programs that give the receiver at the other end a big head ache.

The North Dakota Office of Attorney General puts out a nice "pocket sized" spiral bound publication called SCAMS, SHAMS AND FLIMFLAMS! It's approximately 75 pages and has a lot of good information for everyone. It covers everything from bad contractors, internet scams, email scams, you name it and it's in here in current terms.

I have been asked to remove this post by the Sellers Agent and their Broker because they find it slanderous even though no names have been mentioned. They also feel it is bad for the industry to reveal that we had a problem with the transaction. I feel it is good for the industry to inform/educate Buyers and Sellers about the final walk-through process and situations that can be easily avoided. How strong is the lure of a leaf pile? My kids, Timmothy age 13 and Tina age 15 (both pictured above), raked our back yard just to get in on the fun. I also had to invite our neighbors kids, ages 1 and 3, over for a little fun. A year or two ago Jay wrote a blog about inspections at new construction. At first I thought... really! I'd never heard of or even thought of doing an inspection on a new home.
Jay's post was a real eye opener for me. Of course there can be problems with materials and workmanship on new construction.
Currently I'm representing some Buyers who put an offer in on a home being built by someone with a less than sterling reputation as a builder. I remembered Jay's post and recommended they get a home inspection.

After yesterdays post I decided to do a little research on Drive-In Movie theaters. No much, just a little. Here are some notes:
There are 338 Drive-In movie theaters in the USA in 48 states. There are none in North Dakota or Alaska. Ohio has the most with 28 and Pennsylvania a close second with 27. Check this link to find an Outdoor theater near you.
