khrt: Joe is still having speech problems BUT we are moving on. - 11/16/23 07:42 AM
TODAY
I am going back into the sales business. Not for profit but for one of my favorite non-profits, the Horn of Plenty. I will be at one of the 5 Market Place Foods stores selling Hot Dogs today and Saturday.
I had to dig up this old pic of Timmothy.
2023 is the 40th year that the KHRT Horn of Plenty will provide help to hurting families in a 90+ mile area around Minot by by providing food, toys and a ministry gift that proclaims the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Check out the NEW Artist!

khrt: Make Time! - 10/12/22 09:02 AM
Those of us who call ourselves Christians are often very good at talking the talk but not always so good at walking the walk. I fall short often, daily, but there is a biannual event that I always make time for... even while moving my business and many other life challenging events going on.
As I type this I am at the Christian radio station KHRT in Minot answering the phones and occasionally on air asking for pledges to keep the station alive.
As a "family friendly" Christian radio station we do not take money from advertisers that promote alcohol, gaming, tobacco and the … (5 comments)

khrt: Some Men Tower Above Others - 10/28/20 07:16 AM
Richard (Dick) Leavitt
was such a man. He only stood about 5'6 but his footprint covered much of North Central North Dakota and a bit of Canada as well.
Dick left a successful career in sales in order to spread God's word. He purchase a secular radio station and turned it into a Christian radio station... the only one in a very large rural area.
After a year of ownership it looked as if it may have been all for not as the expence of operating the radio station was to much.
Dick knew he could keep the station alive if he allowed the advertising … (16 comments)

khrt: Selling Weenies - 11/16/19 02:05 PM
Today was that day.
Every year I volunteer for a 3 hour shift to sell hot dogs to help support The Horn Of Plenty sponsored by KHRT radio.
You can read about The Horn Of Plenty below, it's a great community program.
The dominant grocery store in town, Market Place Foods, not only allows us to set up in all four of their stores they even donate all the food so every sale goes 100% to the program.
Timmothy has helped me out in the past but I think this is the first time there have been three of us working an entire shift. The three hours … (16 comments)

khrt: Home Wiring Doesn't Need To Be Scary (or Shocking) - 10/18/19 06:04 PM
Wiring is one of those things you want to "get right" in your home. Most people are wise enough to let the professionals do the electrical work but there are some do-it-yourselfers who are daring enough to do their own electrical work as well. That's fine... as long as you let the City Electrical Inspector take a look.
John O. French is an electrical inspector for the City of Minot and he wants to help you get it right as well. He would be happy to take a look at your plan and let you know what will and won't work. Everybody … (14 comments)

khrt: I'm Going Remote - 09/29/19 05:03 PM
My Plan for 2020
Going Remote!
Part of my marketing plan as a Realtor was to get on the radio airwaves with a program about local real estate.
With no real plan in mind I approached a local radio station manager and asked him if he would air my program. He said sure. It probably didn't hurt that I had been advertising on his station for the last 12 years or so.
Instead of me yammering away the entire time I decided my program "Minot Real Estate Today" (Now just "Minot Today") would be interviews with local, influential people. The interviews were a good choice … (12 comments)

Gene Miller has owned MBM Auto in Minot ND for over 40 years. He knows European cars! This small shop in Minot has a BIG reputation for quality work for those who drive European vehicles. I love visiting with Gene. When we do interviews I feel like I'm part of "Click & Clack", what a great show that was! Listen in. With only 15 minutes I had to cut out a lot of the joking but it's still a very fun interview.

khrt: POEM, a Very Unique Storefront. - 08/08/19 11:14 AM
Rarely do I walk into a storefront and am "Wowed" but I sure was by POEM of Minot. I was greeted by James Adams who gave me a full tour and it didn't take long to realize that POEM and James were both amazing. It's no wonder however as James clued me in on the brains behind POEM. Please listen in, I believe you will be surprised at the story James tells.

Parents, employers, the courts, and often just individuals concerned about their own health. Great information and a few amusing stories make for a fun and interesting interview. Enjoy!

khrt: HOPES HOUSE, an Interview with EVETTE MELBE - 06/27/19 10:53 AM
Evette Melbe founded and runs Hopes House, an addiction treatment center. Hopes house is the only center in Minot with an on site addiction councilor and the only treatment center that requires it's patients to go through the program straight. I loved this interview and I think you will too. Of the four treatment centers in Minot Hope's House is truly unique.

khrt: FARM RESCUE, Another ND Born Program to be proud of. - 06/19/19 02:07 PM
I was first introduced to Farm Rescue several years ago by the then known as News Broadcaster Shaun Sipma (now know as Minot's Mayor, Shaun Sipma). KHRT and yours truly, Bob Timm, have had the pleasure of interviewing Mayor Sipma more times then any other news outlet. Shaun and I talk about Farm Rescues birth, mission, and current status as well as mentioning that the North Dakota State Fair Parade will be lead this year by the founder of Farm Rescue, Bill Gross. I hope you will take the time to listen in and learn about this GREAT North Dakotan born mission … (12 comments)

khrt: You are NEVER to old or young to plan ahead. - 05/24/19 06:06 AM
Dean C. Rubbelke of Edward Jones is one of the many professionals who work in the same Professional Building as I and we visited today about retirement planning.
'm 65 years old so my first question to Dean was how old is to old to financially plan for retirement. Dean, a Financial Advisor, did a wonderful job of explaining why you are never to old to get your financial assets in order.
I believe you will find the next 14 minutes very valuable, I sure did.

khrt: Coming to Minot? Consider staying at the Clarion. - 04/26/19 08:46 AM
Stephanie Baze is the General Manager of the Clarion Hotel & Convention Center in Minot North Dakota and I learned a lot about my neighbor in this interview. I live about a half a mile from the Clarion and never knew it is the largest convention center in the State of North Dakota that is attached to a hotel. I also learned that I need to get 19 of my friends together and go order prime rib at the Clarion. Here is todays radio broadcast of Minot Today on KHRT AM and FM radio.

khrt: What Do You Know About Clogging? - 03/13/19 05:31 AM
I'm NOT talking about plumbing.
I'm not really refering to the shoes either, I'm talking about dancing.

Karen Hamilton and Jackie Harvey have teamed up to open "The Clogging Place" in Minot ND. Karen & Jackie were part of a performance team in Minot and when the leader of that team started talking about closing down the team they decided that Clogging must live on in Minot. Karen & Jackie want to teach the art and fun of clogging with the emphasis on FUN and not on being part of a performance team. The Clogging Place is located at 1401 4th Street SW Minot … (19 comments)

khrt: Gideon's Trumpet, Minot's Only Christian Bookstore - 03/08/19 06:19 AM
Kay Eaton left the nursing field 20 years ago to start a Christian book store. With no retail experience she learned as she went along... including the fact that a Christian book store ought to have Bibles on the shelf. Gideon's Trumpet is a favorite with our family (and not just because our daughter worked for Kay). Gifts from Gideon's trumpet are special because they reflect our faith and our family is based on our faith in God.

khrt: A GREAT Time To Get the Word Out! - 03/06/19 10:46 AM
Next week could very likely be the LARGEST sporting event of the year in the State of North Dakota. The Boys Class B Basketball Tournament. Over 20,000 people will be coming to the tournament PLUS there is a Rodeo in town, a Volleyball Tournament, and the Minotauros will be hosting the Aderdeen Wings on the ice. I don't know the math on that but I think I'd be on the conservative side to say Minot will have 30,000 visitors that weekend.
KHRT radio will cover every game of the Boys Class B Baskeball Tournament. If you want to advertise during the games and catch … (6 comments)

khrt: March 16th and 17th is a REALLY BIG Weekend in Minot ND - 02/28/19 07:13 PM
Weekends just don't get any BIGGER than this coming March 16th and 17th in Minot ND. 3 BIG events that will surely fill all the Hotel/Motel rooms and pack the restaurants over the weekend.
1) The Boys Class B Basketball Tournament is in town. About 95% of North Dakota's schools fall into the class B category. Students, parents, close relatives and those 20 times removed will be coming to Minot for this tournament.
2) The Abrahamson Rodeo & Rodeo School will be in town for Magic City Madness. Ye Ha! What a great time for participants, observers, and photographers like myself. … (9 comments)
