listening: Miscommunication and Perception

Sometimes I wonder if communication is improving or getting worse. Methods of communication have certainly improved technically (as mentioned in my last post about the move to 5G) but it seems like peoples focus and comprehension has gone down the toilet. If you have talked to anybody lately in regards to service needed for a product or service you purchased chances are you have had to repeat requested information over and over again. When you think of a Receptionist we usually think of an official office position and possibly a friendly face like this one.
At a recent medical appointment the Receptionist made me think she was in line to be the Gatekeeper of Hell.
That got me thinking. For those who work in an office and have the luxury of a receptionist have they been trained to greet everyone entering the office with a smile and a warm welcome?
