There are very few "local" events that I feel are worth traveling a thousand miles to or more. I'd even say it's worth taking a plane up to Rollag MN for the Memorial Day weekend to see the LIVING history of the Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion. This video is 6 minutes... I know way to long for social media BUT I promise you it's well worth watching. This is an incredible event for every family member.
