realtor: Another Minot North Dakota Attraction - 07/14/08 02:03 PM
Sure, every town has a library but I would pit our small town library against any in the nation.

From the most advanced Childrens library I have ever seen to the ever expanding multi-media materials available to all, this is a GREAT library. Let me invite you to check them out by clicking HERE.
There are so many good reasons to love living in Minot ND and our public library is certainly one of the best. In addition to being one of the most resouseful libraries it would also have to rank right up there as one of the most … (2 comments)

realtor: Rockin The Bakken! - 07/13/08 03:03 PM
Don't you wish this was your family photo? These two old Norwegian brothers struck oil in 52 and are making more millionaires in North Dakota today then anyone would ever believe.

I decided to investigate how the biggest oil find of the century (or ever) became known as "The Bakken Formation". Well meet Henry and Harry Bakken along with ?? their mom??. For the almost kinda sorta fascinating story click on the logo below:

What caught my attention is somewhere in the article (part 1 or 2) is that this oil is 2 miles down. Now how did these … (1 comments)

realtor: Hang Out With Our Dik Dik! - 07/11/08 05:47 AM

When talking about BIG attractions there is nothing like our Dik Dik. Hang with the animals in Minot. Visit The Roosevelt Park Zoo and see our Dik Dik this weekend or any day the Zoo is open. Our Dik Dik is only 2' long (average) so it's not the worlds biggest Dik Dik but for many it's the only Dik Dik they may ever see! The Kirk's dik-dik (Madoqua kirkii) is a small antelope native to Eastern Africa and one of four species of dik-dik antelope. For more information on the Kirks Dik Dik visit the Roosevelt Park Zoo in person or at their website.

realtor: HOORAY! It's the 1st day of Summer... Again! - 07/10/08 12:37 AM
For my 6 year old son and I it's kind of like the First day of summer... again.
On Memorial Day my son, Timmothy (Yes I named my son Timmothy Timm) was entertaining himself by balancing on a 3-1/2' retaining wall. Yes he lost his balance, yes he broke his arm (elbow), yes his cast comes off TODAY, Hooray! I have to note that it was his right arm and he is also right handed.
I can't wait to throw ball with him, ride bike again, teach him golf, let him ride his new scooter and all those things a 6 … (3 comments)

realtor: North America's Largest Scandinavian Festival - 07/08/08 08:46 AM

One thing well worth blogging about within Minot North Dakota is an event called The Norsk Hostfest. The Scandinavion heritage of this area is emphesised through out the Minot community but this event in particular brings us visiters from all around the World. This event is much like the State Fair in the manor that it hosts many top billing stars over the 10 day period of celebration. Also it is held on the North Dakota State Fair Grounds. The only thing missing is the carnavil rides. However the carnavil atmosphere is present as venders bring, make, and sell their items … (0 comments)

realtor: Minot North Dakota's Scandinavian Heritage Park - 07/08/08 08:39 AM
The Scandinavian Heritage Park in Minot North Dakota is a must see if you are in Minot North Dakota or even just passing through. This park is relatively new and expanding but you will be amazed at all it contains. Located close to the heart of Minot it is like an oasis in the middle of the city. Rich in heritage it is a delight to walk through (even if you are German like myself). We last visited the park on Sunday when my 8 year old daughter insisted we go back and visit again. I hope you enjoy the virtual … (0 comments)

realtor: I Need Virtual Tour Help, PLEASE. - 07/07/08 02:33 PM
I consider myself a computer "Geek" in many areas but I readily admit I know absolutely nothing about Video Tours. I am such a neophyte that I've not even seen a video tour until about 10 minutes ago. I just assumed a video tour was one of us walking through a home with a video camera, saving it as an mpeg (that's a type of file for those that are even more lost then me) and posting it on the MLS. Heading off totally ignorant I dug out my old VCR camera and did a walk through one of my listings. I … (1 comments)

realtor: Oil is making millionaires in North Dakota! - 06/30/08 01:28 PM
For months now I've been telling you that there is more oil under North Dakota then in Saudi Arabia. I'm sure that the typical response out there is "yea right". Please take a look at the article this link leads to: Rocken The Bakken . Note this quote: "The U.S. Geological Survey calls (the Bakken Formation) the largest continuous oil accumulation it has ever assessed. Also note the deep blue box with related articles in the bottom left corner.
So once again I say send us your poor and down trodden, we have more high paying jobs open then North Dakotians … (4 comments)

realtor: I've Got 41 Solid Leads For You! - 06/26/08 02:47 PM

Have you ever received that phone call? I've had many from various lead generators. The first time it happened I signed up... got nothing. Yesterday I received one from someone claiming to be from Google or Yahoo, can't remember which. I told the young lady I was way to busy. With the Oil Boom here and the Minot Air Force Base expansion I was not stretching the truth. I hardly have time to go to bed lately. I miss sleep and my family. Anyway the young lady got very upset "You mean if a customer walked into your office right now … (9 comments)

realtor: FREE SEO, A correction/update to yesterdays post. - 06/26/08 02:29 AM
Yesterday I made a post titled DO IT YOURSELF SEO (Search Engine Optimization) . It did not include instructions and the first site listed has changed it's agenda. I have corrected all this and now I think you will find it much more useful. I will continue to add to that post so if you are interested in SEO please check yesterdays post occasionally for updates.
Thanks, Bob.

realtor: Just say NO! to FSBO - 06/13/08 06:38 AM
No one that I know wants to be thought of as a cheapskate. Sometimes however actions speak louder then words. I know I'm going to offend some out there when I say this but the biggest way To say cheapskate in Real Estate is FSBO (pronounced FizzBo).     Everyone likes a bargin but remember that when you think it's a good idea to look for a FSBO (For Sale By Owner) you are dealing with someone to cheap to hire a professional, someone who thinks they know just as much as a State Licensed Real Estate Professional, someone who doesen't want a … (5 comments)

realtor: How Do YOU List FSBO's? - 06/02/08 01:05 PM
We have a serious shortage of homes to sell in our market do to a booming economy fueled on by the largest oil find ever and a large expansion in our local Air Force Base. I watch Graig's list and other FSBO services on the net but when I call a new FSBO listing I seem to be one of about a dozen agents doing the same thing. If you would share any advice on how to stand out (in a GOOD way) from the rest of the crowd I'd sure like to hear it. Thanks,
Bob "RealMan" Timm

realtor: Less Socialistic then AARP? - 05/30/08 12:51 AM
When I first became eligible for AARP I was excited about receiving some of the discounts I had heard of. I guess I did not put two and two together, and now I'm a little embarrassed. It only makes sense that if you (I) am looking for discounts (handouts) from a company that specializes in them then the company attitude is going to be a Socialistic attitude in whole. I'm embarrassed because I don't think of myself as a "gimme, gimme, I deserve it for existing" type of guy. After receiving just one newsletter it was painfully obvious that the whole … (15 comments)

realtor: I didn't see THAT coming! - 05/26/08 04:37 AM
My first post on Active Rain had to do with the Oil Boom and other major growth factors in Minot North Dakota as well as many posts since. I've been boasting what a great opportunity for those of us living in this little City of 32,000 that is expected to double in size with-in the next 5 years. Well I've been blind sided!
What happens when extreme population growth happens with very little notice?
#1) Potential sellers wait to see what the market will bear.
#2) Listing become dwarfed by the number of Realtors in town. Currently we have about 90 listings and … (4 comments)

realtor: Rubbing it in, Just a little. - 05/25/08 01:04 AM

My blog about my 1991 Mercury Sable Station Wagon (a definite gas hog at 20 mpg) caused more then a little stir a month or so ago. Actually it started with someone Else's blog asking about their super gas saving model that uses less gas due to it's super-size rubber band or something. My opinion got deleted from her post.
My rub it in is that with the Memorial day holiday in full swing we (my family of four) went to the local popular family camping spot to have a little R&R. Rain hit (yes it was a pretty Active Rain) and the downpour lasted about two hours. My … (3 comments)

realtor: REMIND, REMIND, REMIND Your Relatives! - 05/23/08 01:19 PM

Shame on ME!
My brother has mentioned a few times over the last couple of times that he may move out of State when he retires. Shame on Me for not telling him a few things about listing his home. My brother lives about 300 miles away so I did not expect him to list his place with me, BUT how stupid of me not to tell him about referrals! How stupid of me.. about $6,000.00 worth of STUPID! Before he listed his house (with a competing National Brokerage) I could have asked him who he wanted to list it with and … (21 comments)

realtor: Knowing Your Market - 05/23/08 12:31 PM
Knowing your market is not only a must for full time agents but if you are a part-time agent you need to keep up on the market for your sellers, your buyers, and for your own income.  I have mentioned in previous entries that I live in a unique market at this time. Oil has been discovered under North Dakota in a quantity that may dwarf the supply in Saudi Arabia. The news gets better every day here as to the size of the formation and the number of years of projected prosperity it will bring.
Recently the sale of a home … (1 comments)

realtor: Any Like Situations - 05/06/08 07:16 AM
A friend of mine made a deal with a contractor on a townhouse. The long and short of it is that the deal fell through because he did not meet the closing dead line and a couple other minor things the two agreed on. He gave her back her deposit but refuses to compensate her for expenses she encured such as a special tub, closing costs and a light fixture. She wants to know if she has a chance of winning a small claims court suit and what would be the likelyhood of him counter sueing her. Has anyone else had a … (0 comments)

realtor: Why is it Smokin HOT in North Dakota!!! - 04/26/08 01:09 AM
When 100 people are asked to describe North Dakota in one word or less the typical response is "Cold". That is about to change to "GOLD", Black Gold as they say and Jed's about to be a millionaire. I am a Realtor in Minot North Dakota. My website is www.minothome.com and I have a lot of information there about the area. This new oil strike is said to contain more oil then Saudi Arabia! The little City of Minot, population 35,000, is expected to double within the next 5 years. All the big oil companies are moving in PLUS the Minot Air … (0 comments)
