nashville: Nashville Weather: Cross Between Humid Subtropical & What's Going On?! - 01/30/13 06:36 AM
I've lived in Tennessee ongoing since 1996 and in Nashville since 2007. The weather here is nothing short of bi-polar. Or, as I call it, a cross between humid subtropical and what's going on?! One moment things are moving along quite nicely and the next, you're scrambling to adapt to harsh environmental changes raging outside the window. The intensity only seems to be increasing year-after-year.
For example, yesterday marked day one of our 2013 tornado season. The craziness came through just after the stroke of midnight, and we had watches lasting till 4 am in some areas; one person was fatally … (2 comments)

nashville: Valentine's Day 2013: Gift Ideas - 01/28/13 01:32 AM
Local Valentine Gifts Revealed by the Nashville Guru on 01/16/13 Valentine’s Day is in less than a month. We all know that Valentine’s Day can be one of those holidays we all hate to love. Even though we all hate to give into this holiday, you have to admit it’s kind of fun to celebrate Valentine’s Day as long as it doesn’t sneak up on you!
To make it a little easier on everyone, we … (15 comments)

nashville: New Year's Eve Recap: 2013 Music Note Drop - 01/02/13 06:50 AM
We're a city that loves to party, especially if fireworks and music are involved. Combining these together, Nashville has created an entertainment legacy for two primary holidays, both occurring at opposite seasons. One is the 4th of July. And one is  December 31st:
"Rainy weather didn’t appear to deter New Year’s Eve revelers Tuesday night, with an estimated 50,000 people turning out for Nashville’s outdoor 'Bash on Broadway'. The event featured more than five hours of live music, a fireworks show and a 15-foot-tall music note timed to drop at the stroke of midnight.
Last year, when 55,000 people turned out, the … (0 comments)
