This morning Thursday May 28th a giant piece of Toronto history was hauled away from the Yonge St. slip where it has been a fixture for 40 years.

Toronto, ON had a bone-chilling Thursday with the temperature at -16C and wind chill of -26C.
Residents bundled up to brace the frigid weather, which is expected to linger for the weekend. There has been an extreme cold weather alert in force for the city as the negative double-digit temperatures continue.
Two extra 24 hour drop-in warming centres have been opened to provide clients with warm food and drinks.
Toronto has seen 18 days of extreme cold weather warnings, so far, for the 2014/2015 Winter season.

Yesterday, representatives of Waterfront Toronto announced plans for a new 350,000 sq. ft. Innovation Centre 
that is expected to provide about 2,000 new jobs in the city. 
The private sector, namely Menkes Developments
is going to fund the building, which is to be located
on city-owned land in the East Bayfront neighbourhood;
east of Yonge St on Queens Quay East.
The Mayor of Toronto was at the announcement and called it

First Pedestrian Tunnel -Under Water to an Airport
The world's first pedestrian tunnel under water to an airport is due to be completed this year.
This project under taken by the Toronto Port Authority involves building a pedestrian tunnel across Toronto's Western Gap to connect Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport to the mainland.
The pedestrian tunnel construction began in March 2012. When completed the tunnel is expected to provide an easy access route for travellers.

A new development is being planned for the Toronto Downtown Waterfront at 143 Queens Quay East. The main intersections are Queens Quay East and Jarvis St.
It will include an arts community, a music venue and another branch of George Brown College.
Work is to start this year, when Daniels Corporation, takes over the lease, on land currently occupied by the night club called ‘The Guvernment’.

September followed August as another in the string of excellent sales results for the Toronto Real Estate Board with 7,600 sales taking place. This was 25% higher than September of 2010. On a year-to-date basis (for nine months), sales are ahead by 2.6% over last year and we should end the year at just under 90,000 sales – the second best year since 2007. The condo market continued to mirror the overall market for sales.
