north jersey real estate: Closing Today - 03/31/09 09:45 AM
Who says the Real Estate market is bad? Good properties, priced right, still sell.
This unit at Bald Eagle Village in West Milford is a good example.

We had an accepted offer in less than a week.

Today was the closing and here's a photo of the happy new homeowners with their buyer's agent - John Ryan on the right (who along with his wife Danielle were terrific to work with) at the final walk through.

Sellers happy...buyers happy...agents happy!

north jersey real estate: The forgotten castle of Silk City - 03/28/09 02:39 PM
Lambert Castle sitting atop Garret Mountain in Paterson NJ and overlooking the former "Silk City" below is a site familiar to most who have lived in the area or who travel daily on Interstate Route 80. Members of the Passaic County NJ Historical Society hope that the recent decision by Congress to designate the Great Falls of Paterson a national historic park will help to bring renewed interest in Lambert Castle.

The castle which is made of brownstone, was built by area silk baron, Catholina Lambert in 1893. The Passaic County Historical Society offices and county archives are now housed … (3 comments)

north jersey real estate: Another Happy Homeowner - 02/25/09 06:11 AM
Just sold!!
12 Brentwood Dr, Verona NJ

Yes, despite the current economic crisis and the negative reports about the housing market, there are still people selling and buying homes in North Jersey.
These happy buyers, brought in by Prudential NJ Properties, were gracious enough to let us photograph them next to our sign just after their walk through inspection prior to closing.

So what does this all mean? How about...homes ARE for sale, lenders ARE lending money, and buyers ARE taking advantage of great pricing and favorable terms and ARE buying!
So what are you waiting for?

north jersey real estate: Professional Photographs DO make a difference - 01/19/09 04:03 AM

The Northern New Jersey Real estate market is very different these days - inventory is at an all time high and therefore buyers can afford to be really choosy. To say that buyers are in the drivers seat is an understatement.  With that in mind, sellers and sellers agents need to use every tool at their disposal to market - of course yard signs, Multiple Listing Service, Brochures, Internet exposure, staging, and.... Professional Photographs.
It's on that last point that I'd like to promote the photographer who I use for my listings. The difference between his photos and the ones … (6 comments)

north jersey real estate: What happens with your pets during a Natural Disaster or Emergency? - 01/17/09 05:04 AM

We've all seen examples of natural disasters that can strike at any time. Whether it be forest fires wreaking havoc in California or the flooding problems that we experience in North Jersey, it's important to have a plan of action for the family of course, but it's also important to include the family pet(s) in that plan. Knowing ahead of time what is needed and where you can take your pet should the need arise can prevent potential heartache in the future.
Liz Gruen, owner of Kamp Kanine in Little Falls  NJ has offered some helpful tips to pet … (2 comments)

north jersey real estate: What happens after that computer goes bad? - 01/04/09 12:31 PM

What to do with that broken down computer and electronic equipment? You can't just toss it away in the trash. And what about things like household chemicals, paints, or even motor oils? Throwing out any of these things that may contain toxic substances is a definite no no. Well if you're a resident of Passaic County NJ, you do have a way to dispose of these items safely.
Passaic County will be accepting items at the Para Transit Facility located at 1310 Route 23 north in Wayne on specific dates in 2009. Listed below are the items being accepted and … (7 comments)

north jersey real estate: Flood Plan for Little Falls - 12/27/08 02:04 AM
The Federal Emergency Management Agency has approved a plan to help provide relief to residents of Little Falls, NJ who reside in the flood plains near the Passaic and Peckman Rivers. The plan, which includes a new $750,000 pumping station on Louis Street, is expected to help ease the flooding concerns of those affected residents and also provide some relief to the high costs of flood insurance to these areas. north jersey real estate: Celebrating Good Times - 12/16/08 01:56 PM

Today was a day for our office to get together outside of the work environment and enjoy some time together at our annual office Christmas Party held at the Imperial 46 Restaurant in West Paterson NJ (soon to be Woodland Park). We all sat around the Hibatchi Grill and enjoyed the entertainment along with good company and great food. It was nice to be able to take a few hours together and have some fun especially after a trying year for many Real Estate Professionals. Our agents work hard however and this year, while challenging, was also rewarding and successful. It helps that we have … (6 comments)

north jersey real estate: West Paterson no more - 12/14/08 01:06 AM
Well...it's official. The Borough of West Paterson is disappearing. As of December 17, 2008 the residents of this community will be residing in Woodland Park, NJ. The recent name change vote, controversial for sure, passed by a measure of 2136 for - 2111 against. That's a mere 25 votes. So residents continue to be pretty much equally divided either for the change or against it. While there is a new effort afoot to reverse the change, the measure will be moving forward and the new name will become official.
Borough officials have stated that they will implement the name change on … (11 comments)

north jersey real estate: Triple Play connection - 12/11/08 12:49 PM
Triple Play in Atlantic City was great! Real Estate professionals from New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania gathered to learn and network with others in their industry. I finally got to meet my Active Rain buddy Sal Poliandro ReMax in Saddle River NJ. Sal and I have gotten to know each other here in the Rain but hadn't previously had the opportunity to meet in person. Tuesday evening in a crowded "Icebreaker" party at Caesars Hotel and Casino who came walking by?....Sal Poliandro. He was as great in person as he is here in the Rain.

north jersey real estate: Make your Listing stand out among the crowd - 12/08/08 04:10 AM

Boost your Properties Value with these 8 helpful hints.

All homes require maintenance - make sure any necessary repairs are completed prior to listing your home for sale. Replace tired carpeting or flooring rather than doing a thorough cleaning. Spruce up the kitchen and bath(s). Even minor makeovers like counter-tops, appliances, and fixtures will make a major impression. Organize your closets and de-clutter. Pack away non essentials. Remember...less is more. Paint the interior of your home (and exterior if needed). This is probably the easiest and most cost effective step you can take to freshen up the look … (7 comments)

north jersey real estate: Plaxico, what were you thinking? - 12/02/08 12:08 PM
Totowa NJ resident Plaxico Burress will not play again this season for the defending Super Bowl Champion NY Giants. Burress, the talented wide receiver - who caught the winning touchdown pass in last years Super Bowl and signed a multi-year, muti-million dollar renegotiated contract just prior to the season starting - after holding out during training camp - has finally (after many run ins with team officials, league officials, and coaching staff - garnering a multitude of fines) run himself out of town, Although the Giants haven't officially cut Burress from the team, they have suspended him for the remainder of this season. … (10 comments)
