The residents of West Caldwell Care Center are collecting food for those in the community who are in need. Non perishable items are being collected and can be dropped off at the West Caldwell Care Center located at 165 Fairfield Avenue between the hours of 8 am and 8pm. We've heard a rumor....a Jolly Man in a Red Suit is making his list and checking it twice, in anticipation of a trip to West Caldwell, NJ. Yes, Santa Claus is coming to town. So if you haven't been naughty but have been nice this year, it's time to write to Ol' Saint Nick and make your requests for Christmas. The Township of West Caldwell is making that task a little easier for you. Friends of the West Caldwell Public Library is a group consisting of local citizens brought together by the love of libraries. They are dedicated to generating increased awareness in the community of the extensive resources of the West Caldwell Library and supporting it with their endeavors. Among the things the Friends of the West Caldwell Public Library do are: Provide publicity with a monthly newsletter (InfoBytes), Fund-raising with such events as an annual International Dinner and Street Fair book sale, Provide funding for various programs at the library, and Volunteer at the library. The house that is the birthplace of Grover Cleveland, located in Caldwell / West Caldwell NJ, was built in 1832 as the Manse or pastor's residence for the First Presbyterian Church at Caldwell. Cleveland's father, the Rev. Richard Cleveland was minister here from 1834 - 1841. The structure originally stood as a two story main section building with a one story kitchen to the east and a one story lean-to at the rear. west caldwell nj: Essex County fares well in NJ Top 100 places to live

The New Jersey Monthly Magazine just came out with a poll of the top 100 Places to Live in New Jersey. Essex County fared well in this poll scoring with 12 of it's communities in the top 100 - 8 of these in the top 50. Some of the criteria used in formulating the data for this poll includes - total population, population growth, median home sales price (2007), median sales price change since 2000, median property taxes, open space - percentage of open land (2007), and crime rate (2006) per 1,000 people.
