I haven't always been a dog lover. I've always thought puppies were cute, but large dogs scared me. I know it's because I never had a pet while growing up. I adopted a kitten from the Humane Society when I was 24 years old. Her name was Sugar, and she was my very first pet. I loved Sugar...right up until the moment I divorced and had to leave Sugar behind. I joke that losing Sugar was the hardest part of my divorce. I showed a foreclosed home a few weeks ago and my client asked me what the stain was in the middle of the garage floor. As we got closer, we realized that "stain" was actually the perfect shape of a dog lying on its side and there was still fur attached to the floor. Someone had left the poor dog locked in the garage during the hottest part of summer, and he died and decomposed there on the garage floor.
