I haven't always been a dog lover. I've always thought puppies were cute, but large dogs scared me. I know it's because I never had a pet while growing up. I adopted a kitten from the Humane Society when I was 24 years old. Her name was Sugar, and she was my very first pet. I loved Sugar...right up until the moment I divorced and had to leave Sugar behind. I joke that losing Sugar was the hardest part of my divorce.
