The New Year is always about just that.
New.
Whether it's a new job, haircut, gym or those ever dreaded resolutions, The New Year is all about starting.
You might be starting over (many companies, including real estate brokerages) roll your number back to ZERO on January 1. Yep, gotta start all over to meet that sales goal, or commission cap or _____________(fill in the blank!)
The start of the New Year does just seem to be a time to reflect back, and then re-focus on what you are going to focus on for the New Year.

Standing in the kitchen, or sitting at may desk, looking on line....
...and then , 1...2...3...4...5...and the Mega Ball.....and I've won....
be it $15 million or $150 million.....
...I've won the lottery!
I really do know ONE of my first purchases.....right there in that photo!
But once the crazy settles down, you've got a financial plan, and set up your foundation (well, duh, what else are you going to do to save on taxes.....)

Yes, I know. That's a deep subject.
But as I strive to get my office to a paperless point, it's a question I ponder every day. And getting to a paperless point is no easy task, and one that takes getting used to.
But seriously, Why Do We Have So Much Stuff?

And I thnk we forget that every moment is just that...a moment.
We are making moments everyday of our life. But do we remember them all?
Probably not. I keep reminding myself that I need to start a journal again
to remember those moments.

life: Something Stole BOTH of My Koi!

I'm not really in the mood to blog tonight....was a physical labor day today and I'm beat! Working a couple glasses of wine.
But the last couple days, I've lost something. Two koi from my koi pond.
I mean, that sucks.
Pinky arrived last spring, and lasted all winter long, down in the bottom of the pond. I lost Kahauna to disease or something. So Pinky was in charge. Blogging does not always have to be "on subject." Sometimes it just feels good to say, or talk about something else. Does it always have to be a Market Report this, or Community that, or restaurant or other such thing?
Sometimes, other thoughts sound better. It might be something else on our mind. Maybe the mere typing of the words is some unknown therapy to the author...and even to the reader.

We all face life challenges.
They come in all forms. Anytime I see anyone with a disability, life is very quickly put in perspective. I saw a guy today in a wheelchair waiting for a bus, while I'm driving down the street in my air conditioned car. Reality check.
But, we still have issues. They come in all different shapes, sizes, and costs.

I’m actually in Montana this week on my annual family visit. Unfortunately, due to the distance (and usually the stupid riduclous cost to fly here) I only make it once a year. I'm often asked what I do all day long. (Funny, I ask myself that same question at 8pm when I walk out the door and the same piles are on my desk when I started at 8am)
Well, first off, it seems no two days are the same.
If I'm lucky enough to have a Buyer, I'll either be researching properties to see, or actually showing them.
If I'm working with a Renter, I'll be chasing my tail like a dog. Only becuase everything rents so fast, yet no one wants to make a decision.

Anyone that says real estate is great where they are.....I have to just stop and pause. Maybe, or maybe they just have that positive attitude we are all suppose to have.
Nowdays, I seem to need a daily recharge of some kind to keep me in focus. I've got a great new article I just recently found that I have in the front of my calender. I read it every day before I look at my calendar.

One of my "personal" goals this year was to restart my fish pond. The fountain provides such a relaxing sound, and I enjoy my first cup of morning coffee watching the fish scurry around in the pond.
Yesterday, I added one koi to the already very happy four gold fish. He/she is still getting use to the enviornment as we don't see him moving around as much as the others.

As a kid, I was always told to stay away from a bird's nest that had eggs in it. I was told you could scare the birds and they might not return to the nest to tend to the eggs. So, I've lived by that "rule" and still do.
I've had a couple nests built around my house, 1 in a tree, 1 in a hanging flower pot too, and one the ledge of my house behind my patio umbrella as you can see in this picture.

STOP. It's a pretty powerful 4 letter word if you think about it.
When your mother or father yelled STOP at you for doing something, you did it. (well, usually...)
When you do something wrong, be it at work, play or with someone and they don't like it....STOP.
Dictionary.com gives us some pretty good ideas of how strong a word it is.....

We've all heard the saying, "stop and smell the roses along the way." We all get caught up in our daily lives. For those of us in real estate, it might be hard to stop and smell the roses....when we are just trying to keep the boat afloat.

Don't Stop Believing.....It WILL Get Better. I'm a relative "newbie" when it comes to real estate. I've had my license for 6 years now. I know there are many of you that have been selling for 3 or 4 times that long. And you've seen times like this.
