montana: Mark's In And Out Drive In Livingston MT - 06/02/11 10:56 AM

Mark's In And Out Drive In Livingston, MT
Travel is a wonderful thing.
You get to experience new places and people.
You can return to the special places you discovered before.
Or you return to places where you came from...like Montana.
Of course, places change over time, and Montana is no exception.
Except for my home town of Livingston. It seems to be stuck in a time warp from say, the 1800's? Well, maybe not THAT bad, but much of remains like it did when I left back in the early 80's.
My trips home are usually pretty quiet. I … (7 comments)

montana: That Active Rain Dude...He's Everywhere! - 02/24/11 03:58 PM
For those of you that follow me on Facebook, you'll know I'm currently in Montana visiting my family.
February is NOT my travel month of choice to Montana. It's 5 BELOW ZERO tonight and suppose to go to -11!
But my sister called and wanted to organize a surprise party for my Mom's 75th Birthday. Yikes, I said. At the time that I am busier than I have ever been......UGH! And when I found out the plane ticket was just shy of 4 digits!!!!
(Thank you Montana, Delta and ski season....)
But away I came, and boy, was she surprised!! I … (11 comments)

montana: Speechless Sunday -- Did You See The Movie, Where The Red Fern Grows? - 09/19/10 05:18 PM
This picture reminds me of that movie.....just behind these poppies is where my family home once stood...until it was destroyed by fire in 2005....
....blogging has made me try and capture more moments via my camera...since you don't have to wait for the film, and you can take a trip down memory lane anytime you want.
I just need to remember to take even MORE pictures than I do.....

montana: Glacier National Park, Montana is Melting! - 07/18/10 03:03 PM
Glacier National Park, Montana is Melting!

Could it be true? In an article appearing in USA Today, sends a confusing message about the great glaciers that make up the magnificant Glacier National Park, located in Northwestern Montana.
Park Ranger Bob Schuster says recent estimates say the glaciers could be gone in 10-20 years!!! WHAT? Then the article says the views will probably be the same a century from now. Well, can we make up our mind?
I was born and raised in Montana, and I'm sorry to say I never visited Glacier National Park. It's now on my Bucket List!

montana: Midtown Moments From Montana! - 06/16/10 11:14 AM
Midtown Moments From Montana!
As I read blogs from my fellow real estate peeps, as well as other bloggers, I know the power of video or, as we have to come up with terms, vlogs!
Sometimes, it's a question of subject, but mostly an issue of time to "just do it" as the tennis shoe says!
Well in Montana, I did it! Hope you enjoy the beauty as much as I do everytime I go home!

montana: Wordless Wednesday - 06/01/10 05:59 PM
Well....it's suppose to be Wordless Wednesday, but I'm usually never at a loss for words. But traveling this week back to Montana gives one some pretty awesome vistas to look at. I find myself with camera in hand at all times.
You just never know what moment you are going to capture.
And nature can do some pretty impressive things!

montana: Operation Medicine Cabinet Montana - 06/01/10 02:33 AM
Operation Medicine Cabinet Montana
Ok, some of you know I'm currently in Montana for a visit with my Mom. Enjoying the time, but also using it to do some blog storage (write 'em and put 'em in draft for later!) so I'm kind of playing spider and crawling all over the Internet.
So, this morning I found this very interesting project going on here in Montana. Operation Medicine Cabinet Montana focuses on having people turn in their unused prescription drugs. The program is in response to an increase in teen drug abuse in Montana. A problem I'm sure does not just … (6 comments)

Speechless Sunday -- Montana Mountains

Just arrived yesterday for a week visiting my Mom in Livingston, Montana. Flew into Bozeman and on our way from Bozeman to Livingston, snapped this one as we zipped along the interstate. A recent snow fall caps the mountains, but not really visible in this picture. There will be more to follow! Happy Memorial Day, and yes, I'm a day late on my Speechless Sunday. Shall we call it a Magnificent Monday?

Atlanta Company Finds GOLD In Montana!

Well needless to say, this story touches me on TWO fronts....Atlanta and Montana!
Dutch Gold Resources, Inc. announced in press release yesterday that they have found a large, open-ended gold and silver system in western Montana. Here is a map to give you an idea of the location.

For a bit more of today's geography lesson, the state capital, Helena is just to the right of the "A" marking the location of the potential mine. To the right and South, follow I-90 to Livingston...and that is the home town of yours truly!

montana: No Reservations in Montana (Part 1 of 5) - 09/06/09 11:29 PM
Many of my friends, clients and real estate friends know I grew up in Montana. Any perhaps some of you don't. Unlike my two sisters who still live in my hometown of Livingston (infact they now both have places on what is left of OUR family ranch) I flew the coop as soon as possible. First it was 3 years "over the hill" at Montana State University in Bozeman. Then I really took a leap and move to Houston, Texas and the Hilton College of Hotel And Restaurant Management at the University of Houston.
I've never looked back. Until now. For … (12 comments)

montana: Speechless Sunday -- Reflections From Montana - 06/21/09 01:41 AM
Ok, well it's not 100% speechless, but hey! I recently spent a week in Livingston, Montana, where I grew up. Since blogging, this trip took on a whole different meaning, and I spent more time "looking" at things and capturing moments and memories via the wonder called digital photography...

While you might think these are wild poppies growing in a field...they would of been in the flower bed of where my family home stood until destroyed by fire in September, 2005.

montana: Reflections From Home -- Montana And Me! - 06/13/09 02:45 PM
The following is from the sign at the head of Livingston's Main Street, which has been listed in the National Register of Historic Places: As the Northern Pacific Railroad pushed its tracks westward in 1882, representatives arrived at this bend in the Yellowstone River to open a company store. They pitched a tent, stocking it with 140,000 pounds of goods hauled in by ox-drawn wagons. Other merchants set up shop as track laying crews spilled into Clark City. By 1883, Northern Pacific surveyors had platted a town site nearby for their division headquarters, and Clark City's tents moved to the new … (10 comments)

montana: Reflections From Home -- Montana and Me (Part 1 of....) - 06/09/09 04:59 PM

I've been blogging since 2007. It's been a learning curve, to say the least!  I seem to have tried to give out information that will let people know I know my market, the area I serve, and details about it.  And while I have done some "personal" blogs, I've probably not really shown my inner self. Might be a good reason for that......however, I've always been an outgoing person. Never afraid to walk up to a stranger and say hello or introduce myself.  Yet, in my later years (watch it...I'm not that old!) I've become more reserved. It might have … (12 comments)

montana: Speechless Sunday - A Glimpse of Man and Mother Nature! - 06/07/09 02:52 PM

This photo I just took a couple hours ago while out walking in the subdivision where my Mom lives.
It's interesting how you capture something in a photo you don't realize is there until you look at it in detail.
Note in the lower portion of the picture is a black line...the railroad tracks.
Just above them, a white/gray line that is the highway.
And the distance the wonders of the Rocky Mountains.
This view is looking South to Paradise Valley.
Speechless Sundays!

montana: Montana - Big Sky Country! But the WWW Keeps Us Connected! - 06/06/09 11:17 AM

It's not a vacation...it's a Intercation! I've left Atlanta for a few days of a way overdue family visit to see my Mom. But, I'm able to pirate some internet from a connection somewhere, so I'm able to keep a pulse on what is going on.
I even used the Internet to make dinner reservations for tonight! My Mom (NOT a computer person) asked me, "How did you know the number?" Just Googled the restaurant name, and made the call!
And now it's snowing like it's the dead of winter! I just spent the morning planting several of my Mom's … (6 comments)

montana: From City to The Country! - 09/09/07 08:44 AM
Ok, as you saw in my last post, I've become "hooked" on City Living! In fact, I've lived in several major U.S. cities, including Houston, New Orleans, Miami, and New York before landing in Atlanta, where I have been for the past 16 years. Also in my last post, I mentioned growing up in Montana....which is where I am right now....so, here's an entirely different view of the world....
This is taken at what's left of our family ranch. To me, it's just as awe-inspiring as the view of the skyscrapers are in Atlanta! Mind you, it's a bit more quiet, but … (4 comments)
