fishing: Oregon has some great fishing, won't you join us? - 08/01/11 04:00 AM
Oregon has some great fishing, won’t you join us? I love Oregon and one of the great things about Oregon is its great salmon runs it has each year. These fish are big, give a lot of fight once you get them on the line, taste great and are great for you!
Now, I have to say the biggest Salmon I’ve ever reeled in was about 40lbs, which is scary when you consider my youngest daughter only weighs in at 39 at age 7. But, if that isn’t big enough for you, you can always fish for sturgeon.
Now you … (8 comments)

fishing: Beaverton, Oregon Parks: Commonwealth Lake Park - 12/02/10 07:21 AM

What does Commonwealth Lake Park in Beaverton, Oregon, have for a family looking for something to do? Fishing? Yeah it has that! Playground equipment? Got that! Soccer field? Yep, it’s there! A great trail to get exercise on with a great view of a lake in the middle of a city? Yeah, it certainly has that!

All these great features are brought to you in Commonwealth Lake Park in Beaverton and it is all kept up by the Tualatin Hills Parks and Recreation Department and I have to say they do great job! I love this park is because … (7 comments)

fishing: My first actual fishing trip (Guest Post) - 07/22/08 03:52 AM
My first actual fishing trip was with grandpa, dad and my grandma came too, but she read instead of fished. We started at 9:30 and ended about 12:55, but we didn't catch anything.
Grandpa was the only one to lose his bait, but I was the only one that got 3 nibbles. We saw a couple of osprey though. Here is a picture of them, taken by my grandpa.
On our way back we saw this old water wheel and on the way there and back we saw this eagles nest, we knew it's an eagle's nest because dad and grandpa saw an … (12 comments)

fishing: Our first fishing trip of the year and we caught our limit! (Detroit Lake) - 07/15/08 03:59 AM
Detroit Lake is one of my father's and my favorite fishing spots. This year we both got to do something that we have never both done at the same time, we both left with our limit of fish, and they weren't light weights either.
Detroit Lake is just over an hour and forty five minutes from Beaverton, and I have to say well worth the drive. This year, because of the late start of the fishing season, the fish were bigger and they were very hungry.
Here is a map showing our favorite fishing spot on the lake. Just promise that you will … (6 comments)

fishing: Thanks for a wonderful father’s day kids! - 06/16/08 05:12 AM
I've written so many posts about how my dad is my best friend, how we talk everyday and do a lot of things together. I really try to make everyday father's day! But, this post isn't about my best friend, it is about my kids making me feel like the king of the world today.
First thing, upon waking up, they give me, not a tie like other fathers get, but the family tradition every year, of a shirt. Here is this year's shirt, and for some reason those hands keep getting bigger each year.
But, that was only the beginning of my … (5 comments)

fishing: Day five of vacation – What do you mean I have to go back? - 04/25/08 03:25 PM
Part 1 (6:50am)
Since I got up before the rest of the family, I saw that the sun is out yet again. So I seized the opportunity and have grabbed my fishing pole and headed to the lake again, hoping to catch some not so awake fish.
Part 2 (6:58am)
Looks like the fish are safe, at least from me. The lake was not open yet. Who has ever heard of a lake having hours? I didn't see the hours, but the gate was closed to the lake. So, I guess I get to blog until everyone else is up and I can start … (7 comments)

fishing: Day Four of Vacation – What a Dismal Nitch - 04/24/08 07:30 PM
Part 1 (7:30am)
Mother Nature has decided to wake me up early again with sun coming through the sun roof, but I'm not going to let it get the best of me today. I got up and started breakfast and got the kids eating immediately!
Part 2 (8:30am)
The sun is still out, we are heading to the beach to have fun and since it is only a minute and a half away, we should beat any rain that should try to sneak in on us.

Part 3 (10:00am)
It's still sunny, so we are going to have some fun today! We are now heading to … (10 comments)

fishing: Day Three of Vacation – Mother Nature You Are Tease! - 04/24/08 03:54 AM
Part 1 (7:00am)
I'm a blogaholic! If you have read the previous posts about this vacation, you know we have seen snow and rain on the Oregon coast. Well, we are staying in a yurt with a skylight so we can look up at the sky and see the weather. This morning we got up early thanks to a surprise guest, the wonderful sun!
The kids' weren't up yet, so I decided to take the laptop to the beach and get my blog addiction out of the way, do some comments, and post about day two of our vacation.
Upon getting done at about … (3 comments)

fishing: Day two of vacation – Maybe I can confuse the fish? - 04/23/08 03:05 AM
Part 1 (8am)
Well day one was a real bust as it snowed on the Oregon coast. What is up with that? We did have lots of fun watching the storms on the ocean from the car and the yurt. We also had to buy a space heater to keep the yurt around 65 degrees. That made sleeping last night a lot better than Sunday night where the yurt was at about 45 degrees!
So day two is being attacked with a whole different mindset. Since it is no longer snowing but is raining very heavily, I'm going to go the lake with … (6 comments)
