leads: Is getting business as simple as putting your hand out?

As I look at my business and others, I often wonder what the difference is. Is getting business as simple as putting your hand out? Below as you can see my son below was open for business, but had he stayed home and didn’t put his hand out, no one would have came. But, he went to where the business was, opened up the hand and bam, he had a customer. Is real estate any different? Do you go where the business is or do you just sit in your office or home waiting for it to come to you? Have (17 comments)

As I watched my son work and work at this old well trying to get water, I thought about how this is like real estate today. Many years ago you would have to pump and pump and pump, just to get a bucket of water. Today, leads are almost like a faucet, you turn on your computer and there they are waiting for you. But, a lot of agents don’t use the technology they have been given, they never hook those pipes up to the faucet. There still is work involved, but it certainly is a lot less than it used (15 comments)
We all have them, past clients that we lose touch with for whatever reason, but how do you get back in touch with them without sounding like you are pressuring them for leads? Well, I came across Happy Grasshopper here in the rain and thought, what the heck I should give them a try. What I did is put in customers that I hadn’t talked to or emailed in over a year. This is where Trekaroo has been a goldmine for me. When I first wrote about Trekaroo, I was still fairly new to the site and just knew that it was a site for families to check out (19 comments)
Two years ago, when I taught my first class on blogging, I had a student… in fact she was the person that brought me in to teach the class on Activerain, because she saw I was getting business from it. Like many others I’ve taught, she put up one post and never really got back to it.
A year later I was in her office and asked why she wasn’t blogging. She said, it takes too much time and I didn’t get any business from it. I said “You did one (26 comments)

There is nothing I hate more than seeing agents waste their money and then complain about it. If you can't afford to do it right, then don't do it at all. Every weekend while looking through the "For Sale by Owner" ads in the local paper, I see the same ads by different agents.
