We are seeing beginnings the flow from Fort McPherson in Ga to Fort Bragg in Fayetteville come to the Pinehurst/ Southern Pines area and enjoying the Christmas season. I recently sold a home to a couple who moved with the Force Command department of the army to the Pinehurst area and they commute to Bragg everyday. One of the features they wanted in their home was enough room to store all their Christmas decoration.

Every year Southern Pines just next door to Pinehurst decorates the streets with Christmas trees designed by local merchants.

Right next to Pinehurst is the Town of Southern Pines and the businesses and town decorate trees that are placed along the sidewalks of this quaint small town. It is hard to see the little basket next to the white sign in front of the administration building in Southern Pines, but there is a basket with dog cookies wrapped in bows for residents walking their dogs along the town streets.

Driving through Pinehurst Last night I drove past this home that gets all decked out for Christmas every year.

I never paid much attention to how many homes in the Village of Pinehurst get decorated until last year when I went on a carriage ride. I always drive around my own neighborhood to see all the lights, and I need to branch out more.
It is so nice to see so many people getting into the spirit of the holiday in Pinehurst and all over. Merry Christmas Everyone!

I just picked my son up from the airport for his Christmas Vacation from school and we are now back in the Pinehurst are and we are ready for the Holiday to begin.

I will have his attention for a few days, then his friends will return and he will be off with them for most of his vacation. He has agreed to help me with some techy stuff, and we will see how that goes.
It is great to have him back in the Pinehurst area with me, and I will hopefully get to enjoy some time with him.

This morning in Pinehurst a group of volunteers got together to bag the gifts for the Back Pack Pals.

This year, the owner of the Village of Pinehurst restaurant Dougan's donated gifts for the children in the Back Pack Pals program in the Moore County Schools. Several area residents and employees of the restaurant got together this morning to gather the variety of gifts into bags for each of the children. The gifts included pencils, pens, books, fruit, rulers, snacks and a few other items.

Things to do in the Pinehurst Area | No tennis, No Parade so Shopping! Plans were to play tennis, have lunch then watch the parade in Aberdeen, a small town next to Pinehurst. However, the weather was too cold, and the Aberdeen website posted the wrong time for the Parade so I missed that.
I did have lunch with a friend and had fun looking at all the Christmas merchandise in the shops and shop windows.

Pinehurst Real Estate Sales for November fairly flat... At least from the looks of this chart.

As you can see by the chart the last 3 months looks like we are sitting on a bottom. I contend that it looks very similar to the top which was in my opinion August of 2006. Even though the Pinehurst real estate market of home sales peaked higher in July of 2007, the unit sales of homes had been steadily decreasing since August of the prior year.

This past Monday Night in Pinehurst the Animal Advocates had an annual Fund Raiser called Top Hat and Tails to benefit rescued dogs and cats.

There was food provided by a local restaurant called the lunch box. Very Tasty! Many items were donated for a silent auction. I didn't win my bid for new dog bowls for my girls:(
This puppy above was with his sibling. If I wan't already insane for having three dogs, I would have taken those two home in a heart beat.

The Pinehurst Christmas Tree Lighting was a big success last night.

I walked around the crowd to get a clear picture of the tree. I was impressed with all the people came out for the tree lighting. And, not only did crowds come to see the tree lighting, they were also visiting area shops and bringing business to the Village of Pinehurst.
If you are in Pinehurst or nearby, you must come see not only the Christmas Tree, but all the other decorations put out by area businesses.

Tonight at 6:00 PM, the tree lighting is scheduled in the Village of Pinehurst. Following the tree lighting, the Weymouth center in Southern Pines is having a candle light tour of the Christmas decorations, and wine and cheese will be served. The cost for the tree lighting is free, and the candle light tour in Weymouth is $25. Call for reservations for the tour 910-692-6261.

An annual Pinehurst event for raising money for animals - Top Hats and Tails - Black and White pets will dressed in their finest for this red carpet event. Food and wine will be served.

These are my three. The two on the outside were adopted from the Moore Humane society, and the middle one was abandoned with her 3 sisters this past summer. I rescued all 3, but I couldn't let this one go. She is one of my miracles this year.

Tonights Christmas photo comes from a house all lit up just outside of Pinehurst.

This house is located about 10 minutes from Pinehurst on Hoffman Rd. near the intersection with Sandpit in the direction of Foxfire. There is a sign up welcoming visitors.
This is only a small portion of the lights these home owners have put out. It is very much in the theme of the birth of Christ.
If you live in the Pinehurst area, or if you are just visiting, go out one evening to see all of the lit up Christmas scenes.

Retire in Pinehurst as you might find property taxes more affordable than other areas.

This is a chart of some of the areas in and around Pinehurst. Pinewild CC is in Pinehurst, and is separated because they were recently annexed into the Village of Pinehurst. I have lived in five states in the US, and this area has the most reasonable property tax rates.
Rates are based on the county's assessed value of your home. The county can reassess every year, but usually here in Moore County, we are re-assessed every 7 years. Our last assessment was 2007.

The first lighting of the Season was Saturday night, Nov. 27 - guess we missed that one. 
The next lighting will be in Pinehurst, This coming Friday night, Dec. 3 at 6. There will be other activities in the Village from 3-5 Aberdeen will hold its 2010 Christmas lighting at the Depot, Tuesday, Dec. 7 at 6:30 in Historic Downtown Aberdeen.
