Way back in the day, it used to be enough to just have a website.  All you would have to do is buy a domain, create your website and wait for the traffic to start coming in. Back in those days though, it would not only cost you a couple hundred dollars to buy a domain name, but it would also take quite some time before you became the official owner of it.
Of course, a lot has changed since those days.  The barriers of entry have dramatically fallen to the point where anyone can get their … (8 comments)

If you are or ever wanted to get into Pay-Per-Click (PPC) Advertising, Google recently introduced a new feature that can really help you optimize your PPC campaign. Interestingly enough, the new feature is called "Analyze Competition", even though Google keeps all of the competitors anonymous.  Nonethless, this new feature can really provide some great information to help you increase your advertising conversion rates.
Even though this feature is only available to select PPC Advertisers for the time being, Google says they will be expanding it to everyone later on.  To get a better idea on what you … (2 comments)

advertising: Online TV Advertising: Should You Use It? - 05/10/10 03:50 PM
With mainstream television sites such as Hulu and Fancast constantly growing in popularity as well as the popularity of indpendent video (i.e. YouTube) and niche-based video sites, one can’t help but think about the opportunities that can come with advertising on these online TV networks.  The question is, is this a venture worth pursuing for the real estate professional?
As indicated in Retrevo’s (a consumer electronics site) “Gadgetology Report,” 23% of Internet users under 25 watched the majority of their TV on the web, compared with 8% of all online adults. In addition, people 25 and under were also less than … (2 comments)

advertising: SEM: Are You Being Left Behind? - 04/08/10 06:47 AM
Sharing is caring! When the “State of Search Engine Marketing 2010″ report was released, it appeared to provide evidence that Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Pay-Per-Click (PPC) advertising is recession-proof. As businesses of all sizes decreased their spending budgets in various advertising avenues, investing in SEO and PPC increased. Not only has this kind of advertising increased, but it is forecast to grow even more this year according to Econsultancy and the Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization (SEMPO), the groups behind this report.

Anyways, I thought I would start a little (I’m thinkin’ it will consist of 3 parts) mini-blog series on the topic of AdSense.  Within the past month, I have been encountered by some people about learning how to monetize their website and while there are numerous ways that this can be done, AdSense is one of the easiest methods to implement.

advertising: Words that Sell and Words that Don't - 05/12/08 04:37 AM
Extremedirectmarketing.com recently did a study on direct marketing that the results of using certain words in your advertisements.  Their results were very surprising and I thought were worth sharing with everyone.  Even though the results were based on Canadian homes, I am sure some elements would relate to the US market.
Here are some of the key points worth mentioning:
Listings where the seller was actually motivated took 15% longer to sell and sold for 4% less. Houses listed as "handyman specials" sold in half the average time. Words used to accentuate curb appeal helped sell houses faster than words more … (5 comments)

advertising: Realtor Web Marketing: Basic Blog Publicity Tactics - 04/30/08 04:18 AM
So last time, we talked about where to get content to write about and how you should make posts. Now is where the fun part comes in:
Publicizing Your Blog
Now you really shouldn’t be publicizing your blog until you have a decent amount of posts (like 15-20). If you try promoting your blog to other people and they see you only have 1-2 posts, they may think you are creating a spam blog (known as a “splog”). You need a decent amount of quality content before doing any promotions.
Here are a couple of great areas where you can start … (3 comments)

advertising: Realtor Web Marketing: Debuting My Ongoing Series - 04/23/08 06:52 AM
I thought I would start an ongoing series of web marketing tips and tactics that I have been using for the past couple of years (and continue to use) to help promote my websites.  While it would be way too overwhelming to put every single tip in one post, I plan to just break it up into little pieces and post them on a daily basis.
I will try to keep them categorized, but I’m not making any guarantees :).  After all, I need to categorically brainstorm everything, which will take some time.
Having said that, the titles of each part … (0 comments)
