dfw: How Will Brexit Affect the DFW Housing Market? - 06/24/16 01:09 AM
Yesterday, the UK voted to break it off with the EU.
After the results were announced, stocks around the world plummeted and the pound took a dive. Social media became flooded with "doom and gloom" narrative touting global recession, Armageddon, and the collapse of civilazation as we know it.
WHAT HAPPENS NOW?Our phones have been ringing off the hook with inquiries about how this news will affect the local housing market.
Every time we see a major world event, the same pattern emerges.

While the global economy takes a step back, the negative impact on investors will redirect interests toward "save haven" vehicles. Those fleeing … (2 comments)

This screenshot shared with homeowner's express permission.
Homeowner, Nana Hutchinson Gregg, has had better mornings. As she scrolled through a local support group's Facebook page, she recognized her Rowlett, TX home being used in an advertisement by a North Texas real estate investor group on their Facebook Page to promote their offer to purchase tornado-damaged homes.
The advertisement credited a local news media group as the … (8 comments)

dfw: Texas FHA Loan Limits Went Up for 2015 - 05/07/15 12:13 AM
Last March, we alerted Buyers and Buyers Agents to a change in FHA lending that feels disheartening to many -- the "Anti-Flipping" rule was reinstated. This rule prevents loan applicants from getting approval for homes that have been owned for less than 90 days by the Seller.
Today, we want to share some happy news about FHA... Lending limits have increased for FHA loans in several Texas counties! (See FHA's website for full details about Texas and other states.)
The DFW Metroplex is benefitting from the increase for 2015 as follows:
This recent change also has served to normalize disparities within the Dalls-Fort Worth-Arlington, TX MSA... In … (1 comments)

dfw: Home Inventory Is Shrinking for FHA Buyers - 03/22/15 06:56 AM
FHA Buyers and the Realtors® who represent them are facing a shrinking pool of compatible homes to choose from. Ironically, the latest cuts stem from HUD's re-implementation of FR-4615 Prohibition of Property Flipping in HUD's Single Family Mortgage Insurance Programs, better know as the "FHA Anti-Flipping rule" or "90-day Seasoning Requirement" initially enacted in 2003.
As of January 1, 2015, Buyers who are using FHA financing once again aren't able to make offers on certain properties as soon as non-FHA financed buyers.
Originally designed to protect FHA Buyers from illegal flipping schemes and curtail mortgage fraud, the Anti-Flipping rule prevents applicants from successfully getting approved … (0 comments)

dfw: Backyard Chickens in DFW - 07/12/14 05:19 AM
"Can I raise chickens in my backyard?"
This isn't an uncommon question among homebuyers in both urban and suburban markets these days. Whether the idea is formed before the home search begins, or whether buyers have been introduced to the concept during showing tours where other homeowners proudly display their 'home grown' eggs harvested on the kitchen counter, buyers are starting to tune in to local ordinances and selecting cities within the DFW Metroplex that permit backyard coops.
Why Raise Chickens?
Although the primary motive is typically focused on egg production, chickens actually make fun and friendly pets, and can be … (10 comments)
