activerain blogging: Is Freedom Free? What does Freedom mean to You? - 05/25/09 02:31 AM

Is freedom free? The correct answer is no, but what is the cost? And what does freedom mean to you?
I was driving through the small village of Browntown WI (pop.250)and saw this mural painted on the side of their community museum. When I think about the cost my mind is immediately drawn to the lost American lives on the fields of battle across the globe and time. What does freedom mean to me? Because of the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice, I am free to think, speak, go, and pursue without the repressive control of a … (2 comments)

activerain blogging: What do you call a Realtor at a Closing? - 05/21/09 05:55 AM
What do you call a Realtor at a closing?           Employed
What do Realtors do the rest of the time?        They are unemployed actively looking for employment.

activerain blogging: The grass is always Greener over the Septic field. An unpleasent topic but expensive fix. - 05/21/09 03:49 AM
My kids have turned our septic field into a golf course. This reminded me our our country clients taking proper care of their system, because this could become a big snag in the sale of their property. Below are some tips.
1. Make sure you are aware of the types and amounts of extra waste materials that are poured down the drain. Limiting the use of your garbage disposal will minimize the flow of excess solids to your tank. Garbage disposals usually double the amount of solids added to the tank.
Do not pour cooking greases, oils, and fats down … (2 comments)

activerain blogging: Can a Realtor ever say "I Don't Know". - 05/19/09 03:03 AM
Can we say "I don't know?"

Have you ever found you’re self in the position with a client who asks a question that you don’t know? What do you do, what do you say? Do you feel compelled to give an answer even if you not sure? Why don’t we say, “I’m not certain of this but I will get back to you on that”. Is it because we feel we must know everything, the expert on all matters, the competition for business, or is it just pride?
Maybe none of you have ever struggled with this, but I found … (17 comments)

activerain blogging: "A great place to live", series starting with. South Wayne, WI - 05/18/09 03:40 AM

Welcome to South Wayne!
Population approx. 500
The Village of South Wayne, located in the southeast corner of the County, was originally named Collins, in the 1880s, after the local railroad superintendent.  Since there was another Collins in the state, the Village's name was changed to South Wayne, in honor of the Revolutionary War hero and minister "Mad" Anthony Wayne, with the "South" added to distinguish it from the community of Wayne in northeast Wisconsin. The Township around the Village was called "Lost Township" because the official government survey was lost on its way from the U.S. Land Office.

Govorner Jim Doyle gave the commencement address. He stressed that we are in a challenging day with great oppertunities for the best and brightest who commit to service their fellow man.

activerain blogging: Peace like a River - 05/14/09 03:39 AM

I was on my way to pick a sold sign at a home in Albany, WI. the other day. After I retrieved the sign I drove across the bridge that spans the Sugar River. This river cuts through the heart of the village. Over the years I have canoed this beautiful river many times. In the summer you can see tubers floating different sections of the water. This is just one of the picturesque villages that make up Green County WI. Come and visit and stay for a lifetime.

activerain blogging: Shoud you take every listing? - 05/14/09 03:06 AM

Recently I was asked be a prospective client to list their property. (This is not it) After doing an extensive market analysis I determined what I believed to be the appropriate listing price. The client wanted a much higher price, but I showed them that the property didn't match their desired  price for the current market conditions.
They continued to point out things that had more sentimental value than market value. ( Not the fine plastic chair) I agonized about the decision I was about to make, " I can't spend my time , money, and effort in a listing … (10 comments)
