scott larson realtor: A Tip about Communicating with your Realtor - 10/25/10 05:50 AM
Communicate is Key
If you have hired an agent hopefully you hired one that you can communicate with effectively. A good Realtor listens to their client and their needs. However, it is also our job to manage your expectations. Almost all sellers think their homes are worth more than they really are and buyers generally always want more off the price or items included in the sale than the seller can give. Not always but often. With today's market conditions most buyers and sellers are in tune with the struggles each side will face. I get calls from prospective buyers looking for … (1 comments)

scott larson realtor: Curb Appeal --- First impressions count! - 10/11/10 05:59 AM
Curb Appeal
First impressions count! There are several steps you can take to entice buyers before they ever set foot inside the door:
Rake the yard, trim bushes, and repair the retaining wall If necessary, pressure wash the exterior of your home and/or repair siding to give the appearance that it is clean and well-cared for. Check the north side where the green stuff grows Walkways should be clean and clear to make the home accessible. If they have settled consider mud jacking. Outdoor accessories should be simple and tasteful to avoid turning off. Good deals on outdoor furniture are … (2 comments)

scott larson realtor: Buying or selling a home is a complex - 09/27/10 07:32 AM
Buying or selling a home is a complex and, at times, overwhelming process. There are many options as well as constraints that households face when searching for the right home that will meet their needs today as well as in the future. For home sellers, the transition from one home to another often is driven by significant life events such as a job relocation or retirement. The unsettled economy has added another layer of uncertainty as both would-be buyers and sellers consider when, and even if, they should complete a real estate transaction.
A majority of home buyers and sellers rely … (0 comments)

scott larson realtor: Get pre-approved for a loan before house hunting - 09/22/10 07:22 AM
Something to consider.
All buyers should get pre-approved for a loan before house hunting.
Knowing how much of a mortgage you can afford will save the emotional heartache of falling in love with a house that is out of your price range. Getting pre-approved will also save you the potential embarrassment of being turned down for a loan during the often competitive process of bidding on a house. Most foreclosed homes require a pre-approval to make an offer.

scott larson realtor: Cheese Days in Monroe Sept. 17th-19th - 09/15/10 01:03 AM
Experience Old World tradition at an out-of-this world celebration! With a history dating back to 1914, Green County Cheese Days is the oldest and largest food fest in the Midwest – honoring Swiss heritage and the cheesemaking and dairy farming traditions of the area. Monroe’s Historic Courthouse Square serves as a scenic backdrop to the festival grounds, and the celebration attracts crowds of revelers ready to yodel, polka, and consume cheese by the truckload. Highlights of the weekend are: live music and Swiss entertainment, Family Farm Adventure, dairy farm and barn quilt tours, an arts & crafts fair, carnival, street dances, … (3 comments)

scott larson realtor: Should I buy a house today? - 07/31/10 01:42 AM
A Home Is a Better Place to Raise a Family Don’t take my word on this. When Fannie Mae asked current renters for the major reason to buy a house in their  National Housing Survey 2010, these were the answers renters gave (they could pick multiple answers):
78% said it was a good place to raise children 75% said because they would feel safe 70% said because you have control of your own space With interest rates under 4.5% you can own some homes for less than renting. Call me today and see how you can become a home owner.
