Summer has hit Southwest Louisiana in full swing! I was out with my kids yesterday at Put Put and wow! 102 degrees. We were not even able to finish the one game we were playing! Heat related illnesses and death are completely preventable. Between 1973-2003 more people died than hurricanes, lightning, tornadoes, floods, and earthquakes combined.

The school year always flies by....for the parents. Have you planned your summer yet? With today’s economy and everyone pinching pennies, the cheaper something is to do the better! So what is there to do that is free? Well there are the many parks we have here in SWLA! · Alligator Park - Just north of Starks off of Hwy 109 is a peaceful little destination known as Alligator Park. River Bluff Park will be 26 acres of serene beauty. It's in the design stage currently and is proposed to feature the following: Boat launch Bank/Boardwalk Fishing Fishing Tournements Community Gathering Nature Center Boardwalk/Trail Overlooks Wetlands Exhibit River Exhibit
