harford county maryland: Agent Professionalism - Where has it went? - 11/08/12 12:59 AM
As a real estate professional for over 10 years, I have seen some great agents, good agents, fair agents, and down right poor agents.  After the downturn came in 2007, many of those agents only in the business for a quick buck which usually meant agents that were also unprofessional quickly left the business and went on to other professions to make a quick buck and the agents who were left were the ones who are professional and in the business because they loved working with helping people buy and sell homes.  It was great to get back to work with other … (5 comments)

harford county maryland: Coming back to Active Rain - 08/17/11 07:23 AM
Hello Everyone,
I can remember signing up for Active Rain many years ago, and at first; I came here a lot of times to read the posts and see what others are doing. Then, the real estate market hit a bump in the road and I had to spend tons of time working in the "business" just to make ends meet and get everything done.  The one thing that I am proud to say is that Mary and I are still full time real estate professionals and have taken what was just the two of us and added others to our … (1 comments)

harford county maryland: School Board! Elected or Appointed? - 03/09/07 10:41 AM
Harford County Letter to the Editor
The Aegis, March 7, 2007
An article from a Harford County School student concerning the school board, and whether this group should be elected or appointed.  Currently, the Harford County School Board is appointed, but many counties in Maryland are discussing/already have school boards that are elected by the constituents.
My opinion!  Let the people in the community elect the school board so that those it affects most can have a say in how the schools are managed.  School boards that are appointed may not necessarily get quality people, ever hear of the "Good … (0 comments)

harford county maryland: Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors - 01/19/07 01:51 PM
Yesterday, we had a fire break out in a home that was built in the year of 1900.  It was an older house located in Abingdon Maryland, and the most tragic part of this fire was that a husband, wife, and three grandchildren were killed due to smoke inhalation.  This fire happened at 10:00 in the morning, and had about 65 firefighters present to fight the blaze.
In this day and age, it is hard to imagine that a home would not have smoke detectors.  My home has smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.  The above home had smoke detectors but was … (1 comments)
