A Moose Visit to the Beartooth Nature Center in Red Lodge, Montana
I enjoy giving private guided tours at the Beartooth Nature Center (BNC): www.beartoothnaturecenter.org
After one of my most recent tours, I stumbled on a plush toy moose (feel free to come up with a name for him) and decided to show him around the BNC.
When I presented him to Rudy, the mule deer, this was the reaction.

How cute?  Don't you agree?

When I presented him to Clyde, the coyote, this was the reaction.

Scary, isn't it?   [PLEASE SEE MY COMMENT (#17) BELOW THIS POST]

Some Colorful Signs that Summer is Near at the Beartooth Nature Center in Red Lodge, Montana
I have been volunteering at the Beartooth Nature Center (BNC) in Red Lodge, Montana for the past two months and I have enjoyed every minute of it.   Not only did I get to learn about all the animals at the BNC but I get to educate the visitors (mainly kids from various schools in Montana and Wyoming) about the animals by assisting with the Education Program and providing private guided tours.
The following are photos I took on June 3, 2010 after I was done volunteering in the morning.

Meet Peabody at the Beartooth Nature Center (Red Lodge, Montana)

Peabody is a peacock at the Beartooth Nature Center (BNC) in Red Lodge, Montana.  You can meet him and another 70 animals when you visit the BNC.  As you can see from the photos, Peabody is very beautiful.  Every chance he gets, he shows his tail off to anyone who is walking by.

beartooth nature center: Friday Falcon - Why Risk Getting Hurt Over a Feather? - 05/14/10 12:56 PM
No, I am not starting a new group!
I took the following photos earlier in the spring but finally got around to posting them.
I found a bird, not just any bird, but a bird of prey, a hawk (not a falcon) perched on a tree out in a distance.

This is where my camera's zoom feature comes in handy.  Here's a close-up look at him.

And another close-up of this magnificent bird.

Before I knew it, he was joined by a magpie.  It was suprised that the magpie stood there, on the same tree as the hawk.  I think he was there … (19 comments)

beartooth nature center: Not-So-Wordless Wednesday - Summer at the Beartooth Nature Center - 06/24/09 09:39 AM

The above photos were taken at the gardens of the Beartooth Nature Center on June 24, 2009.   The staff members take very good care of the animals as well as the plants.  There is a lots of colorful flowers that provide for great landscaping near the entrance to the Center.  It's Good to Be Here!!

The following photo was taken at the Beartooth Nature Center on May 3, 2009 by my very good friend Hera from Toronto, Canada. It was her first visit to Red Lodge, Montana.  She had a great time and plans to return in the near future.

beartooth nature center: A Visit to the Beartooth Nature Center with Photos - 05/17/09 04:38 PM
The Beartooth Nature Center is a wildlife refuge for animals that are orphaned, injured (in the wild or through human contact) or imprinted (not able to live in the wild as a result of getting used to humans).  If you are visiting Red Lodge, Montana, this is one of the places you should see.  The center is host to about 70 animals and what is nice is that you get to see them at close range and learn more about them through interpretative displays and by observing them.   For more info about the Beartooth Nature Center visit http://www.beartoothnaturecenter.org/Site/Welcome.html

beartooth nature center: Furry Friday - Be Careful, BlueBEARy Can Bite - 05/15/09 08:05 AM
The following photo was taken at the Beartooth Nature Center (a native wildlife refuge at the North Entrance to Red Lodge, Montana) on May 3, 2009.

The caretaker went in the cage where the bears (BlueBeary, Bo, Buster and Winnie) live and shortly after, I heard a loud "Ouch".   The next thing I heard was the caretaker talking to Bluebeary and saying "Don't Bite!".  I was surprised that the caretaker went into the cage in the first place and even more surprised that he was standing right next to a bear that just bit him.  This explains why there is at least 4 feet separating the … (8 comments)
