Red Barn in Red Lodge

This red barn is located about 5 miles North of town.  There is a certain feeling, something about seeing a red barn out in nature that can not be put to words.  Happy Wednesday from Red Lodge, Montana!

wordless wednesday: White Wednesday - Wonderful White Outdoors (Red Lodge, Montana) - 10/07/09 07:04 AM
White Wednesday - Wonderful White Outdoors (Red Lodge, Montana)
The following photos were taken in Red Lodge, Montana after the most recent snow fall.
Here is Kylie in the mud room after being out in the snow.

Here are Sir Barkley and Jester pausing for the photo just before playing with each other in the snow.

Here are all three of them in one photo.  The snow falling does not deter them whatsoever from going out for some fresh air.

And it is not just the dogs that seem to have fun out in the snow!

It is currently quite white in … (36 comments)

I went on another interesting hiking trail recently.  I will share photos of some of the interesting scenes that I saw along the way in a follow-up post but for the time being I wanted to share this photo which I took from a very unusual point of view.  For the time being, you can admire the resulting photo of the waterfall.  More details to follow (click on link after the photo).  Have a great Wednesday!

wordless wednesday: Not-So-Wordless Wednesday - Clouds Above Opal Pool - 07/15/09 02:24 PM

The photo above was taken at Yellowstone National Park on June 29, 2009.  Opal Pool (named for its colorful water) is located in the Midway Geyser Basin.  Don't let the name Opal Pool fool you.  This is not a pool to swim in.  It is actually a hot spring with scalding water.
Midway Geyser Basin is also host to Grand Prismatic Spring and Excelsior Geyser.  I would recommend anyone visiting Yellowstone National Park to make a stop at the Midway Basin Geyser which is a few minutes drive from Upper Basin Geyser and Old Faithful.

The above photos were taken at the gardens of the Beartooth Nature Center on June 24, 2009.   The staff members take very good care of the animals as well as the plants.  There is a lots of colorful flowers that provide for great landscaping near the entrance to the Center.  It's Good to Be Here!!

wordless wednesday: Not-So-Wordless Wednesday - Big Smile in Big Sky Country! - 06/24/09 05:32 AM

This Big Smiley Face was found very high in the sky on top of one of the towers at the Laurel refinery.   Laurel is a city located about 45 miles North of Red Lodge and about 18 miles West of the city of Billings, the largest city in Montana with a population of about 100,000 people.
Smile and have a great Wednesday!

His name is Jester.  Isn't he adorable?   I adopted him from the Beartooth Humane Alliance a couple of months ago.  He is now 7 months old.  If some of you where wondering how I am able to get up early to take some beautiful photos of the sunrise, I get help from Jester.

wordless wednesday: Not-So-Wordless Wednesday - Reflection at Yellowstone Lake - 06/03/09 08:38 AM
The following photo was taken on May 25, 2009 at Yellowstone National Park at the Lake Village.

Yellowstone Lake is the largest freshwater lake above 7,000 feet (2,133 m) in North America.  It is located at precisely 7,732 feet (2,376 m) above sea level and it the largest body of water in Yellowstone National Park.

wordless wednesday: Not-So-Wordless Wednesday - Grand Prismatic Spring - 06/03/09 08:09 AM
The following photo was taken on May 25, 2009 at Yellowstone National Park at the Midway Geyser Basin.

The Grand Prismatic Spring is Yellowstone's largest hot spring at 370 feet diameter and 121 feet deep. The colors of this hot spring are simply spectacular!  The name describes it well as "prismatic" means brilliantly colored.

wordless wednesday: Not-So-Wordless Wednesday - Can You Smell Danger? - 05/20/09 11:49 AM
The following photo shows an interesting display along Highway 212 in Joliet (26 miles North of Red Lodge).  The name of the artist behind this creation is Charles Ringer.  He is a very know artist in the area.  Lots of his creations can be seen at his gallery in Joliet but you can also come across lots of his works throughout Red Lodge, Montana.  Amongst his most popular works are the kinetic (animated) silhouette sculptures made of steel plates.  Movement is created through a pendulum effect which brings the silhouette sculpture to life.  You can see some of his kinetic silhouette sculptures displays in the windows of the Pollard Hotel … (16 comments)

wordless wednesday: Not-So-Wordless Wednesday - Deer-rection ... The Creek! - 05/13/09 09:16 AM

This photo was taken on May 3, 2009 near the town of Fishtail.  I had seen many deers throughout Stillwater County and Carbon County but it was the first time that I have seen this many all at once.  This was the second of two groups of deers in the same area which decided to dash towards the creek shortly after I approached them.  You can also see some cows grazing on the other side of the creek.
The following two photos show the first group of deers.

It was quite a nice surprise to see this many deers all in one place and quite … (28 comments)
