Do you see the moose in the photo? Then it must be Moose Monday! :-) Yes, it took me over two months to get another post here on ActiveRain (and I am content to make sure I get one post in every other month to keep this mainly photo blog accessible to the public). For all my friends here on AR, rest assured, I am doing well in Montreal, Canada. Life sometimes takes unexpected turns and you just need to accept them, move on and get stronger from the experience. yellowstone national park: Moose Monday - Swimming in a Moosely Private Lake in Yellowstone National Park

Moose Monday - Swimming in a Moosely Private Lake in Yellowstone National Park This is another photo of the breathtaking scenery in Yellowstone National Park during my most recent visit in July 2010. Moose be nice to have your own private lake to swim in. Mama moose and baby moose where enjoying the morning swim across the lake.
Notice the snow caps in July in the background? The elevation is between 7,000 and 8,000 feet above sea level so the snow is still common on the mountain peaks in July throughout the park. Happy Moose Monday! Gerry Khatchikian

Moose Monday - It is Easy to Participate in the Moose Monday Group - PEACE LOVE MOOSE, America's Moose Wanted and Other Lovely of Moose from Yellowstone National Park So I did manage to finally see real moose on my latest visit to Yellowstone National Park. It happened in the very last hour of my visit just before I left the park. I was pleasantly surprised. I took the following photos at one of the many souvenir and gift shops, thinking I would not see any real moose. Here are other kind of moose you may see. They may not be real but I hope that they (18 comments)
Then they decided to swim in the lake. See photo in last week's post: Moose Monday - Moose Memorable Moment of My Latest Visit to Yellowstone National Park I had to run to my car and to safety once I saw in my viewfinder that the moose where swimming in my direction (objects/animals may be closer than you realize by the time you stop looking through the viewfinder!). Moose Monday - Moose Memorable Moment of My Latest Visit to Yellowstone National Park No, it is not Wordless Wednesday (it's Moose Monday) but words could not describe my first moose sighting in Yellowstone National Park. I had been to Yellowstone National Park 3 times last year but with no luck with regards to spotting my favorite wild animal. I was hoping this would change on my most recent and first visit to the park in 2010 and it did just in the nick of time on day 2! As I was planning to leave the park from the East entrance, I spotted not one, but (23 comments)

Sunset Over Madison River in Yellowstone The following photo was taken in Yellowstone National Park on June 28, 2009. This was on our way out of the park from the Western entrance to get to West Yellowstone where we had scheduled to spend the night. I was the driver of the group and I had to pull out to one of the rest stops along the road to admire the sunset and its reflection on Madison River. We were very hungry at the time and decided it would be a great spot to watch the sunset while eating the sandwiches we (20 comments)
yellowstone national park: Not-So-Wordless Wednesday - Clouds Above Opal Pool
- 07/15/09 02:24 PM
The photo above was taken at Yellowstone National Park on June 29, 2009. Opal Pool (named for its colorful water) is located in the Midway Geyser Basin. Don't let the name Opal Pool fool you. This is not a pool to swim in. It is actually a hot spring with scalding water. Midway Geyser Basin is also host to Grand Prismatic Spring and Excelsior Geyser. I would recommend anyone visiting Yellowstone National Park to make a stop at the Midway Basin Geyser which is a few minutes drive from Upper Basin Geyser and Old Faithful. yellowstone national park: Not-So-Speechless Sunday - Moose Drool
- 07/12/09 07:55 AM
The following photo was taken on June 29, 2009 shortly after leaving Yellowstone National Park from the East Entrance and headed towards Cody, WY. My brother spotted this moose and we stopped the car to watch him for a few minutes. It was the second sighting of a moose for my brother and nieces in less than a week during their summer vacation in Montana/Wyoming! I consider myself lucky when I get to see one moose in a period of 6 months in or around Red Lodge.

This is is a first of a series of posts on Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone is the first national park in the U.S. and the world and it was established in 1872. It is located mainly in Wyoming (96% of the land) with parts of it in Montana (3%) and Idaho (1%). Forests comprise 80 percent of the land area of the park. Whenever you hear about Yellowstone National Park, most of you who have visited, read about it must have the following photo in mind.
Yes, Old Faithful (the regularly erupting geyser seen in the photo) is probably the most photographed things by visitors (6 comments)
Yellowstone Lake is the largest freshwater lake above 7,000 feet (2,133 m) in North America. It is located at precisely 7,732 feet (2,376 m) above sea level and it the largest body of water in Yellowstone National Park. If you like what you see, you will want to come back and visit my upcoming series of posts on Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone is a must-see if you are in the Red Lodge area. The Grand Prismatic Spring is Yellowstone's largest hot spring at 370 feet diameter and 121 feet deep. The colors of this hot spring are simply spectacular! The name describes it well as "prismatic" means brilliantly colored. If you like what you see, you will want to come back and visit my upcoming series of posts on Yellowstone National Park.
