parris island: Assistance for Military Homeowners PCS'ing during Real Estate Downturn - 05/21/09 01:04 AM
The Homeowners Assistance Program (HAP) has expanded to help military members hurt financially during the mortgage crisis by PCS moves.  HAP is now accepting applications, "but not processing them until procedures, regulations and funding are in place."  The eastern United States is covered by an office as close as Savannah:  HAP Field Office, SavannahU.S. Army Engineer District, SavannahAttn: RE-AHP.O. Box 889Savannah, GA 31402-0889912-652-5580800-861-8144Their phone lines are extremely busy, but their website is very thorough: http://hap.usace.army.mil/EP_PCS.html.  Under the big title on the home page, there are 4 branches of the program.  Under "Service Member Homeowners on PCS," here is what it says … (1 comments)

parris island: 34 Starlight, WHAT A DEAL in Beaufort SC! - 04/18/09 03:26 AM
Chris Skrip of RE/MAX Sea Island Realty recently sold 34 Starlight (Land only) on Lady's Island near Beaufort SC for $35,000!
The best business in real estate is repeat and referral business.  There is no better compliment than receiving repeat clients or a word of mouth referral from a past client.
Chris sold the clients a piece of land on Big Ben a few years ago.  They have been enjoying that property and have placed a really nice mobile home on it.
Recently, the opportunity came for the potential purchase of the adjoining property at 34 Starlight.  These clients did not … (0 comments)

parris island: Deep Dish and Cracker Barrel - can't get more Southern than that! - 11/13/08 06:41 AM
As many of you know, I travel for my job and love to listen to audio books on CD.  I have found the most wonderful program through Cracker Barrel  restaurants.  You can 'rent' audio books on CD.  When you first go into a Cracker Barrel, you pick out your audio book and pay full retail.  Then keep the book, listen to it while traveling, return it within a few days/weeks, and receive a credit for the retail price that you paid minus the weekly rental charge.
My most recent listening experience was Mary Kay Andrews, Deep Dish.  The book is a work of fiction … (1 comments)

parris island: Werewolves & Stingers heading to Iraq - 08/30/08 03:34 AM
Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 122 and Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 31 deployed to Al Asad Iraq early Friday morning. Squadron 122 is known as the Werewolves and 31 is known as the Stingers.  Families gathered with last minute hugs and kisses for the Marines that are leaving for Iraq for the next 7 months.
If you visit Beaufort South Carolina, you would never know that it is a military town, unless you notice the high and tights on the good-looking, fit, young Marines (yes, this is Maria writing the article today and not Chris :>)
We love our Marines in Beaufort!  We … (0 comments)

parris island: Plan to see the Fireworks Friday Evening in Beaufort SC! - 07/02/08 08:44 AM
Independence Day is a very special day in our military town of Beaufort South Carolina.  There are 2 fireworks shows that are worth catching if you are in our neck of the woods Friday evening.  From Parris Island or from The Sands Beach in Port Royal, SC, you can view the 2 firework shows because they are directly across the water from one another.  If you have never seen a fireworks show over the water, you do not know what you are missing.  It is like watching a fireworks show in the air and on the ground because of the reflection … (0 comments)
