philadelphia realtors: Don't Leave the Door Open to Danger - 04/28/15 05:53 AM
Open houses put agents at risk of being harmed and should be curtailed. April 28, 2015 | BY RENEE PORSIA   We purchase alarm systems to keep strangers out of our homes. But in our workaday lives, we turn around and open the front door to invite anyone and everyone in, no questions asked? There’s something wrong with this picture. The contradiction is exactly why open houses make no sense.
The two recent murders of real estate agents during showings in Ohio should trigger some serious thinking: Do the benefits of open houses for home owners justify us putting our lives on the line? … (1 comments)

philadelphia realtors: Women are Bit*hes, Men Are Professionals - 01/09/12 12:59 AM
Happy New Year!  I thought I'd start this New Year out by writing a blog about something that seems to be running rampant in the real estate industry and what has become the cesspool of unprofessional, egotistical men who basically talk down, degrade and treat strong, aggressive, confident women Realtors® inferiorly.  For example, here is an email I received just recently from a Broker of Record of all people.  I had written to him to simply ask for his help with one of his agents after I had submitted an offer for one of my buyers.

"I spoke to XXXX . Your offer was presented .  It was rejected . … (8 comments)

philadelphia realtors: Home Owners And Home Buyers Will Need "Good" Realtors More Than Ever Now - 10/18/10 01:36 AM

By Renee Porsia
Short sales, loan modifications and foreclosures oh my!  Add in a boat load of new mortgage rules, regulations, restrictions and what you have is a lot of confusing information and if a home owner wants to sell their home, they better have a Realtor who is on the ball. Same holds true for home buyers.
It’s not the same real estate market it was two years ago.  You can’t put a home up for sale, guess at a price, (high, I might add) expect it to sell and if by chance you do find a buyer willing to pay what you are asking then have … (1 comments)

philadelphia realtors: If You Are Not Looking To Buy Or Sell A Home, Call A Realtor - 09/13/10 12:25 AM

By Renee Porsia, Real Estate Girl
If you are thinking of looking for a new home or selling your current home and you are now thinking about finding a Realtor, it’s too late.  Seriously. Now, all you will be doing is rushing to find someone and you will wind up making a bad decision.
So, you might be saying “so, when is the right time to find a Realtor?” Glad you asked. The time to find a Realtor is when you are not thinking of selling or buying a home.  Since you are not in a hurry to find a home or put your … (3 comments)

philadelphia realtors: The Old Real Estate Bait and Switch - 01/08/10 12:20 AM

The Old Real Estate Bait and Switch Bait & Switch Something that really bugs me about my profession is how so many Realtors over price listings just to get business. I call it the old bait and switch. Now, I know that this will upset many Realtors well, those that are guilty of over pricing their listings that is.  To those Realtors I say, too bad! You are hurting and discrediting our profession every time you take another over priced listing and giving the rest of us, honest, hardworking, knowledgeable, ethical Realtors a bad name. So, why would a Realtor … (6 comments)

philadelphia realtors: What Will You Do in 2010 - 12/28/09 10:17 PM
What Will You Do in 2010 Are there things that you want to do but keep telling yourself you simply don’t have the time or you can’t do that?  You are not alone. With work, family and kids, you can feel like you simply don’t have the time to do any more. Write it down. It’s a fact that you will accomplish more of your goals if you simply just write them down. Write them on a piece of paper and title it my goals for 2010 and post it on your fridge, your bathroom mirror, your car or put it … (6 comments)

philadelphia realtors: Dual Agency, Not In Anyone's Best Interest - 08/27/09 05:44 AM
It seems as though every time I post my professional opinion either in my own personal blog or in a public forum about how I feel about dual agency, a bunch of Realtors jump all over me because they just can't understand how a Realtor can have such an opinion.
The problem is that most Realtors do not actually understand what dual agency really is or the consequences thereof.
Dual agency is very complicated so it is easy to see how most Realtors wouldn't understand it however due to their lack of understanding, it hurts consumers.
I wanted to explain what … (7 comments)

philadelphia realtors: Buyer Etiquette - 05/11/09 08:50 AM
Buyer Etiquette By Renée Porsia  Is there such a thing as buyer etiquette? I say, yes, there is.
I'd like to set the record straight for buyers when I say that there is a good way to behave when setting out to find your new home.
Most buyers think they can just pick up the phone and call a local Realtor without giving one thought to the actual home buying process. The problem also lies with Realtors who run out to meet an unprepared buyer.
Both buyer and Realtor have different motives for behaving the way they do. The buyer just … (1 comments)

philadelphia realtors: Should Realtors Be Paid Like Attorneys? - 05/04/09 08:32 AM
Real estate is the only profession where people clearly do not value a Realtor's time. Just because many Realtors do not charge an hourly fee for their time and choose to be paid out of the proceeds at settlement, consumers feel they can just waste a Realtor's time.
This is the fault of Realtors because many Realtors need business, any business, so they will run out at all hours of the day or evening to meet with consumers at the drop of a dime, putting no value on their time.
If a Realtor doesn't put a value on their time or … (0 comments)

philadelphia realtors: Do You Remember The Realtor Who Sold You Your Home? - 01/29/09 07:12 AM
Do you remember the Realtor who sold you your house? You should. It was a stressful time in your life. Don't you think you should remember the name of the person who put everything together for you and got you to the settlement table?
You have your family doctor, your mechanic, your hairdresser, your accountant and maybe even an attorney and you should also have your Realtor who you can contact should a need arise. You wouldn't just change doctors every time you fell ill or switch hairdressers every time you needed a hair cut. So why would you want … (4 comments)

philadelphia realtors: To Sell Or Not To Sell? - 01/24/09 02:07 AM
With all the talk about it being a buyer's market it seems the sellers are left wondering "what about me?"
After so many years of it being a seller's market, now the tables have seemed to have turned and sellers are no longer are in control which leaves so many home owners scratching their heads asking "is this a good time to sell?"

I get sick to my stomach when I hear so many people out there telling sellers that now is not the time to sell their home. Sure, I wouldn't just go sticking my house on the market just for the … (1 comments)
