education: ActiveRain Success Story: The Times They Are A Changin'
- 12/04/10 07:49 AM
Previously, on ActiveRain... I wish I had thrown a date in the ActiveRain Success Story (quoted below) that I wrote. It seems like I wrote it about fifty years ago (I haven't even been alive that long, despite what you may think), but I'm guessing it was somewhere around a year ago, maybe more. My time at ActiveRain has been fruitful; bringing me clients, friends, and contact with all sorts of influential people in the real estate industry. It's garnered me recognition, both as a Realtor® and a blogger/tech-geek. It's made me money and cost me nothing (other than a few (6 comments)
image courtesy of REbarcamp Austin March 11, 2010 - REbarcamp comes to Austin If you've followed REbarcamp news in the past, you'll know that these events have proven to be fun, educational, and often quite inspiring. On Thursday March 11th, REbarcamp invades Austin. This will be my first live REbarcamp event (I have attended Virtual REbarcamp in the past). I'm hoping many of you will be there and from the attendee list I have seen, I've got a lot of hands to shake and hellos to say. I spoke with one of my friends from AgentGenius who has an interest (7 comments)
Now this is something you don't want to miss. JCKC Radio is having a big show this week. A radio show by our very own Jason Crouch and Ken Cook (and featuring regulars like Jeremy Blanton and Mike Mueller), I usually try and catch the show each week to see what they're up to. This week, though, I can't make it and I will have to listen to it on the archived recording. I say "have to" as their guest this week is Chris Brogan. If you don't know who he is, you're missing out. I had a chance to (1 comments)
education: Better Homes And Gardens Real Estate Does App Better.
- 11/19/09 08:26 AM
Better Homes And Gardens Real Estate builds an app for everyone. I'm a RE/MAX agent, so it might seem surprising to hear me extol the virtues of another real estate franchise, but this is one I can't ignore. The Better Homes And Gardens Real Estate App for iPhone is simply one of the best real estate apps out there. Sure, there are plenty of useful ones, but nothing that personalizes the experience quite like this. So, you're out looking at homes and you want to remember the details of each one? As they say, "There's an app for that." Just whip (11 comments)
image courtesy of Virtual REbarcamp site and Jim Cronin Today is the day! Virtual REbarcamp has arrived. If you're not even sure what REbarcamp is all about, I suggest you read Mike Mueller's post, "What the heck is an RE Beer Camp?" to get an idea of what's about to happen. This REbarcamp is a little bit different though. Instead of having to travel miles to the location, the location is anywhere you want it to be. It's, dare I say...virtual. At 9AM Pacific Standard Time, the first ever Virtual REbarcamp will kick off with Jim Cronin's (RealEstateTomato) welcome and (14 comments)
photo courtesy of Menage a Moi I was preparing for a closing yesterday with a client... My client is a First Time Home Buyer and we've had some interesting moments looking for homes. We've seen good and we've seen bad. As we went through the house on our final walk-through to prepare for the closing the next day, the client had quite a few questions. This particular client really had a desire to understand what was going on as he was purchasing a home and I had a blast with him. I like questions. It gives me a chance to (11 comments)
photo courtesy of blmurch What is a survey? First let's get the concept of "survey" out of the way. Merriam-Webster defines survey as "2 : to determine and delineate the form, extent, and position of (as a tract of land) by taking linear and angular measurements and by applying the principles of geometry and trigonometry." Think of it as a map of your property marking property lines, easements, buildings, and setbacks. It shows the truest picture of what the layout of your land is and defines what you actually own when it comes to a piece of land. Alright, so (13 comments)
education: Sarah Palin - Governor or Genius Marketer?
- 12/05/08 12:36 AM
Today I got a personal letter from Sarah Palin, Governor of Alaska. What could it be I wondered as I tore open the envelope. I could see Obama or maybe even McCain sending me something, but the losing Vice Presidential candidate? Didn't seem to make sense to me, but I was still curious. Here's the front of the envelope...would you open it and wonder what was inside?
So I got inside and what was there? Are you in suspense yet? Inside was a letter, a letter from "Sarah" (as she signed it, we're on a first name basis these days). (59 comments)
