brained home stager: We Need to Price Your Home to Sell - 11/25/09 04:47 AM

Statistics say that the best chance for selling your property is within the first seven weeks? Experience has shown that this is true. These studies show that the longer a property stays on the market, the less the seller will net upon the sale. It is so very important to price your property at a competitive market value at the signing of your listing contract.
Our present market is so competitive that even over-pricing by a few thousand dollars could mean that your house will not sell.

brained home stager: Tackling The Staging Towel Problem - 10/04/08 05:40 AM

How do you keep visitors & Realtors at open houses and showings from using your nicely folded, perfectly hung, and oh so clean and dry towels?  I have read that some suggest tying them in ribbons or raffia and therefore signal that they are off limits.  Does everyone know how to read raffia?    A sign "Do Not Use Towels" along with "Do Not Use Toilet or If in the case of an Emergency :  please close lid & flush (or maybe flush and then close lid)", "Do Not Sit on Bed" ,  "Don't kiss the Mirror", … (23 comments)

brained home stager: Minnesota Home Stager Report - I Smell A Skunk - 06/16/08 06:32 AM

With two large German Shepherds and a lovable but nosy mutt "it" could happen soon.  One of these days, while checking under a wood pile or shed , at least one of the dogs will encounter a peppermint kitty and he will let them have "it".  Skunk spray , one of the most obnoxious smells, works quite well for the sprayer.  The sprayed upon however have burning eyes, nausea, and owners who no longer want them as close companions.
There are a number of commercial preparations, none of which I have found to be worth their price.  So grab … (12 comments)

brained home stager: It is Tornado Time Again! - 05/16/08 06:30 AM

Tornadoes are nature’s most violent storms. Spawned from powerful thunderstorms, tornadoes can cause fatalities and devastate a neighborhood in seconds. A tornado appears as a rotating, funnel-shaped cloud that extends from a thunderstorm to the ground with whirling winds that can reach 300 miles per hour. Damage paths can be in excess of one mile wide and 50 miles long. Every state is at some risk from this hazard.
Some tornadoes are clearly visible, while rain or nearby low-hanging clouds obscure others. Occasionally, tornadoes develop so rapidly that little, if any, advance warning is possible.

brained home stager: Don't Shoot Radio-collared Bears. Please! - 08/29/07 03:23 AM
The Minnesota DNR is asking that bear hunters  leave the radio-collared bears alone.
The DNR monitors about 40 bears by this method according to DNR bear research biologist Dave Garshelis.  Most are in the area of the Chippewa National Forest, my area which is  the Camp Ripley Military Reservation and near Voyageurs National Park.
However the bears may travel 50 or more miles from their territory, during the fall season.
The bears after being trapped are fitted with GPS radio collars, which collect and store location data that will be downloaded when they are visited in their winter dens.
"I hope hunters can find other … (2 comments)
