brainerd area home staging: Considering a Move to China? - 01/02/10 03:21 AM
When I was young my friends and I were always "digging holes to China". We did not know how far away China was and we didn't care.  We just liked digging.
China is digging herself a hole now and firmly planting her feet in the sand. Even in a visit and speech from President Obama concerning Internet censorship, free speech was blocked online.
China has more than 250 Million Internet users and has some of the world's toughest content on what traffic is entering or leaving their network. There are some smart and rebellious Inernet savvy bloggers in … (4 comments)

brainerd area home staging: Put a Lid on IT! - 12/07/09 02:43 AM

When your home is for sale, things need to change in a big way.  If you want to leave the lid/seat on your toilet seat up - that is for you and your wife to work out.  However, when your home is listed and people are touring - the seat and lid need to be down.  Seems like a small matter and it is.  It is also only one of a list of things that need to be done to get your home the most showings, the most offers and sell in the shortest amount of time.      All … (9 comments)

brainerd area home staging: Prepare to be Cornmazed - 09/29/09 11:52 AM

Here in the Brainerd Lakes of Minnesota,  2 special corn fields have been silently growing and planning for the Fall.  Soon these innocent  looking fields will be sculpted and designed into twisty labyrinths for the sole purpose of making you walk in circles. You can spend an afternoon winding your way through the towering stalks and the evening on a hayride drinking cider.  There are special days for families with small children and appropriate age crafts.  Several nights will be for those who like a little excitement with their confusion.  Scary creatures will inhabit the maze ready to make … (10 comments)

brainerd area home staging: I WILL NOT FORGET - 09/11/09 02:42 AM
As you all well know, today marks the eighth anniversary of the tragic events of September 11, 2001. I am listening to some of the 9-11 memorial program on the television and remembering where I was and what I was doing on that day.  We had a tornado rip through on June 13,2001 taking almost everything we owned including our roofing business and horse stable.  We lost horses as well and that was the most difficult for me.
Our insurance company purchased us a dumpy old house trailer that we named Barney after the purple carpet that ran through … (8 comments)

brainerd area home staging: U Are a Terrorist - 04/25/09 03:33 AM
Syndicated columnist Michelle Malkin in Thursday's Washington Times wrote: "What and who exactly are President Obama's homeland security officials afraid of these days? If you are a member of an active conservative group that opposes abortion, favors strict immigration enforcement, lobbies to protect Second Amendment rights, protests big government, advocates federalism, or represents veterans who believe in any of the above, the answer is: You."
Patriotic Americans now pose a threat to the United States government.  There are millions of them, they are everywhere.
People who believe the government is too large and taxes its people too much. All those … (17 comments)

brainerd area home staging: WHITE ON WHITE ON WHITE - 03/10/09 11:32 AM
OK, so we are in the middle of another Minnesota snowstorm and I have white on my brain,  Anyhu  - here I  go.
A monochromatic background needs some skillful help to not be perceived as bland.  Various shades of white with loads of textures will keep it interesting.  Texture will add a dimension to an otherwise flat color scheme - now you see depth and definition.  Keeping it still neutral - you can bring in organic materials from the natural world outside , which is quite plentiful here in Northern Minnesota and for the most part free.  Some pieces of … (20 comments)

brainerd area home staging: Papa Murphy's Baxter Here to Stay - 02/28/09 02:47 AM
With the present economic troubles, we have lost a few Brainerd/Baxter businesses. I was pleased to hear that Papa Murphy's  in Baxter has made a committment to the area by buying the building that their business is in presently. We often purchase their delicious pizzas for take home to bake perfection. I will even stop in on a busy work day to get a salad to eat at my desk at Keller Williams Realty Brainerd Lakes where I am a REALTOR/Staging Specialist. Yes, I usually work right through lunch but if you have a home you want to list or buy … (13 comments)

brainerd area home staging: Minnesota Home Stager Report They said it - Part l - 12/31/08 02:03 AM
This is the first in the series of quotes to start out your New Year with wit.
The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of the blessings. The inherent blessing of socialism is the equal sharing of misery.      -Winston Churchill                  The only difference between a tax man and a taxidermist is that the taxidermist leaves the skin.     -Mark  Twain                         The ultimate result of shielding men from the effects of folly is to fill the world with fools.    -Herbert Spencer, English  Philosopher (1820-1903)                There is no distinctly Native American criminal class...save Congress.   -Mark  Twain  … (2 comments)

brainerd area home staging: It is as Easy As Cake - 11/22/08 10:59 AM
This is big hit with my family and all our guests.  Simple and delicious- now what could be better?  We also love homemade whipped cream and that is exactly what will best top off this dessert. Ice cream also goes well if you are serving this hot out of the oven.
Give it a try and comment back so others will know that you have taste tested and approve.

brainerd area home staging: His Justice Can Not Sleep Forever - 10/16/08 07:46 AM
Chuck Norris is a pretty cool guy.  His shows had family oriented content, you clearly knew who the bad guys and the good guys were and the good guys always won. He is a conservative Hollywood star with 40 years in the business. He expresses concern about how the pool of conservative "tough guys" seems to be drying up in Hollywood. He also states that there are those like actor Gary Sinise and others who have been meeting quietly in restaurants and private homes, forming a loose-knit network of entertainers who share common beliefs like supporting U.S. troops and traditional … (15 comments)

brainerd area home staging: Self Contained Bundles of Sunshine - 08/02/08 12:05 PM
Year around self-contained bundles of sunshine, holding a list of immune boosting nutrients and antioxidants that go well beyond a large dose of Vitamin C.  We are talking citrus, baby!  Even in the shortest, darkest most frigid Minnesota winter, citrus emerges in the produce departments.  Ruby Red Grapefruit, Meyer Lemons, Key Limes and Blood Oranges are a few of the favorites.  Easy to pack and go, even their colors please the eye.
Fairly long lasting (especially their faux counterparts) they also make excellent pops of color for home staging purposes.
Eat some and display the rest, you will have … (4 comments)
