brainerd home stager: "X" marks the spot!!!! - 07/21/10 03:45 AM

This really should be an OLE and LENA joke!
Good clean fun.......................

A bit of light humor for the end of the day.   Things seam to be a bit tense so enjoy!
Bob and Fred are out in the boat fishing.  They are having a great time and the fish are biting non-stop also.
"This is the best day of fishing we have ever had", said Bob.
"It sure has, to bad we couldn't mark this spot for the next time", replied Fred.
Bob reaches into his tackle box and pulls out a big marker and puts a big 'X' … (3 comments)

brainerd home stager: Susan G Komen Workshop for Miss Brainerd Lakes Contestants - 05/06/10 03:33 AM
This week I joined the Miss Brainerd Lakes  Scholarship pageant (MAO) contestants and their guests for a workshop on breast cancer. I have a strong family tie to the ugly disease and always am interested in the latest information. A young woman, Rachel, started out the workshop by telling her story. She had a double mastectomy in her 20's, so was a great motivator for these young women to start checking their breast health early on in life and to continue being proactive. Our other speakers found cancer in their 40's and both of them finally ended up with having both … (2 comments)

brainerd home stager: Allergies or the Flu - Christmas Misery - 12/30/09 02:25 AM

I am sneezing, coughing and congested.  So are other members of my family including those who came home from Florida with me. I feel fine but am tired (probably a lack of sleep).  They, however are just miserable and have additional symptoms that I thankfully am not sharing.  Fever, chills, thick mucus, aches and a total lack of motivation (so they say).  I think that my problems are due to allergies and they have a cold or the flu.  If you are wondering about your symptoms here is a great link to About.com that will give you some help in … (12 comments)

brainerd home stager: Just a month – you can do it! - 10/19/09 01:44 AM

The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing." - Stephen Covey: Author, organizational, leadership, and family expert.

Try this out for a month-just a month, you can do it.

Copy the above quote and print it out.  Tape it to your bathroom mirror, your car dash, your computer monitor, your exercise bicycle, and your refrigerator. Read it and think about what is most important to you = your big why.  Reflecting on this quote every day for a month will help your realize what you get up to do and why … (15 comments)

brainerd home stager: I Can Stage It Myself! - 08/12/09 09:38 AM
I see suggestions on Trulia and other sites from well meaning people who seem to think that by watching HGTV, you too can stage your own home. Only 10% of the population can visualize something other than what they are seeing, so you are rare. To top that off, you already have your home how you like it - right. That is the other problem - it is not about you any longer - it is all about getting prospective buyers in the door and to the purchase agreement table.  If they do not like the online photos -they won't … (12 comments)

brainerd home stager: Staged~Listed~Sold First Day on the Market - 07/23/09 02:28 AM
As a REALTOR/Staging Specialist with Keller Williams Realty Brainerd Lakes, my listings are all staged.  My listings are selling and selling fast.  They are bringing close to the asking price and others are wondering why? I hear the statement that "price will overcome all objections" out of seasoned agents. While probably true, is that in the best interest of your clients?  How low can they go?  Many things can be done to enhance the desirability of a property that cost nothing.  They are moving - why not prepack?  Most of us can live with much less than we do.   After … (6 comments)

brainerd home stager: Statue de la Liberte - 07/04/09 03:01 AM

Today for the first time since 9-11, you can go to the top of the Statue of Liberty.  "On that fateful day in 2001, she held her head high as she witnessed with her own eyes the horrors that took place just across from her watery home. Symbolism and sentimentality can be infinitely  applid to her place in it all." I have never been up in the Statue but hope to at some point. There are lots of others who want to enjoy the "view from the crown" and tickets are sold out until November. Carefully planned down to the … (6 comments)

brainerd home stager: Smoke 'Em- If You've Got 'Em - 02/18/09 02:03 PM
For those of you who know me, I am quite anti-smoking and have several dead and dying relative reasons. Besides, smoke gives me an instant migrane headache and sometimes even the smell gets to me. However, when I get good news I like to pass it on.  This good news is for smokers or at the very least their survivors.  The Phillip Morris company will probably be ordered to pay more than $130 million to the widow of a longtime smoker who died of lung cancer.  This could be history in the making as a trail will be blazed for … (26 comments)

brainerd home stager: Funerals Are For The Living - 02/02/09 05:48 AM
When the former President Boris Yeltsin of Russia was buried, he had a Russian Orthodox service.  This is the first time in over a century that in Russia a deceased head of state was bid a religious farewell.
The memorial service was held in central Moscow's Christ the Savior Cathedral and was attended by our former U.S. Presidents George H.W.Bush and Clinton along with dignitaries from many countries.
Was the name of Christ spoken-was the plan of Salvation talked through- did those in charge of the religious parts of this service speak truth to the living?
Funerals are for the living. … (21 comments)

This Paul is not small and it took 3 people to move him to the Holiday Village.  He rode there in the Shores & More Realty van.

brainerd home stager: Are You Thankful? - 11/30/08 01:28 PM
The early Americans were acutely aware that all they had was given to them by the hand of God.  Whether they were in times of good and plenty or suffering through hardships, drought or war - they gave thanks to God for all that He provided and for all that He was.
America's history is deeply rooted in faith in God.  Many today are threatened by that faith.  They want to rewrite history and downplay God as just one of many things that some people seem to take comfort in believing. After all they think there are many roads … (10 comments)

brainerd home stager: What you can & can't take from a foreclosure home - 11/22/08 01:52 PM
With more homes going into foreclosure in our area - the former owners think that they have a right to strip out any valuables.  This is not the way it works legally and they are unknowingly setting themselves up for more problems. Not only are they stripping homes, they are actually vandalizing the homes upon leaving.  Somehow they feel that by taking their frustrations with their lenders (or themselves) out on the home - they will gain something.

brainerd home stager: "Hillary Clinton Confirmed To Supreme Court" - 10/15/08 05:50 AM
Readers: This is mere speculation not fact, so do not panic yet.
"Hillary Clinton Confirmed To Supreme Court" Do you think that this is a plan in the works if Obama gets elected President? There was that little meeting with Bill and wouldn't it be fun to know where the conversation went that day.  Usually there is something offered in return for support - when warring sides meet.  Could this be it?

brainerd home stager: Brainerd Lakes Women's Health Series - Breast Cancer - 10/10/08 06:51 AM
The last Fall Women's Health Speaker Class was on breast cancer, a topic that has probably affected most families.  Dr Troy Duininck,  who gave an overview of cancer, stated that one in eight women get breast cancer and in 2007 there were 178,480 new breast cancer cases that were diagnosed.  He said that in Minnesota there were about 3000 new cases and that Brainerd St Joseph's hospital had 72. Duininck also said that 85-90% of breast cancer cases are not heriditary.
In my family my Grandmother, aunt and sister all had breast cancer. Doctors recommend that women have a … (4 comments)

brainerd home stager: Greenbean Side Dish in a Crock Pot - 10/06/08 06:40 AM
Thanksgiving is coming up and one of our traditional side dishes is the French Onion Greenbean dish. My double ovens are usually quite full, so I was happy to find a recipe for a similar dish made in a crockpot. I have not found too many people who do not eat this and it is always welcomed as part of our left over line up ( so I make a double recipe).  This would probably tote well to any event where you have to contribute a dish or score points at a tail-gating party.

brainerd home stager: Right on Target - 09/18/08 01:49 PM

The new ballpark for the Minnesota Twins will be called the Target Field. This is right across the street from the Target Center, home to the  NBA's Minnesota Timberwolves. The retailer and the Twins will be collaborating on the design of Target Plaza which will connect the $517 Million 40,000 seat Target Field to downtown Minneapolis. This will include a pedestrian bridge and public gathering space. All this Target stuff will be just a few blocks away from the Target corporation's headquarters in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Go Target,  oops I meant , Go Twins.

brainerd home stager: Minnesota Home Stager Report - The Good, The Bad and The Ugly - 08/02/08 10:44 AM
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly- which one of these terms best describe your property?  If it is going on the market - the bad and the ugly need to change.  I know change is hard and sometimes painful, but it is for the best.
You see, prospective buyers have the power to choose.  They will not choose the ugly with its outdated rust shag carpet, dark faux wood paneling and blue toilet. Why should they, when they can choose a pristine updated move- in ready good?
Surely they won't choose the bad, with a leaky … (9 comments)

brainerd home stager: Christian Motto: Be Prepared - part 1 - 04/26/08 02:07 AM

I Peter 3:15
"But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have."
What do you say to someone who asks you about your Christian Faith?  Can you explain clearly and completely, who Jesus is and why your relationship with him gives you eternal hope and freedom?
Peter encouraged believers to live in such a way that others would be drawn to them and ask questions.  He stressed that they should have an answer ready for everyone who asked.
