brainerd home staging: Looking For A Good Man - 05/07/08 03:11 AM
This has to be one of the best singles ads ever printed. It is reported to have been listed in the Atlanta Journal.

SINGLE BLACK FEMALE seeks male companionship, ethnicity unimportant. I'm a very good girl who LOVES to play. I love long walks in the woods, riding in your pickup truck, hunting, camping and fishing trips, cozy winter nights lying by the fire. Candlelight dinners will have me eating out of your hand. I'll be at the front door when you get home from work, wearing only what nature gave me. Call (404) 875-6420 and ask for Daisy, I'll be … (28 comments)

brainerd home staging: Don't Fool With Minnesotans - 05/02/08 05:10 PM
DON'T FOOL WITH MINNESOTANS
After having dug to a depth of 10 meters last year, New York
scientists found traces of copper wire dating back 100 years and
came to the conclusion that their ancestors already had a telephone
network more than 100 years ago.     Not to be outdone by the New Yorkers, in the weeks that followed, California
scientists dug to a depth of 20 meters, and shortly after, headlines in the
California newspapers read: "California archaeologists have found traces of
200 year old copper wire and have concluded that their ancestors already had
an advanced high-tech communications network a … (9 comments)

brainerd home staging: Christian Motto: Be Prepared - part 2 - 04/26/08 03:00 AM

In part 1, we covered the verse I Peter 3:15 and learned about being prepared to
talk about our faith and to have answers ready for other's questions.  I often ask
others about their beliefs and some will reply that they are "private - just between
them and God".  Clearly, Peter did not advocate such a response!

Questions may come from a stranger on a long airplane flight or a relative at a
funeral. A student of God's word will always be ready to explain the hope that others
see in their life.  Think about it and  perhaps write it … (6 comments)

According to a recent Minnesota DNR survey, the typical ATV rider is a Caucasian male in his mid-40's with some college or technical training.  This man is most often employed full time, with an income of more that $50,000 and an average family size of 2.8.  In most cases he has not completed a DNR ATV safety course.
The DNR Enforcement Education Program Coordinator, Capt. Mike Hammer, said "Recent DNR  statistics show a decline in youth-involved incidents, largely due to safety training requirements for those age 16 and under. It's the adults who have not completed training who are most … (2 comments)

brainerd home staging: Go Away - Snow! - 04/07/08 09:10 AM
Just when I think that I will be able to soon see green blades of green peeking out of the white fluffy stuff - it snows. Not just a dusting, or a mere frosty blanket, no!  I am talking about two feet of the  white stuff. Now being a born and bred in Minnesota gal, I know that it will eventually disappear and Spring will come.  It just is not going to happen any time in the near future.
We usually try to make the most of our lovely and yet unpredictable
Minnesota weather and so here is a snowman for … (28 comments)

Lisa Paxton, Brainerd Lakes Chamber CEO thinks that  hosting the Governor’s Fishing Opener will give the Brainerd Lakes Area a long term pay off. "The governor's fishing opener will be a real boost," Paxton said "It's really an opportunity to capture a couple hundred media for an entire Brainerd lakes experience."      Carol Altepeter, governor fishing opener event coordinator and regional manager at the Minnesota Office of Tourism in Brainerd, said from past experiences the opener brings in $600,000 conservatively from immediate media exposure. A national tour featuring decorated veterans from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan didn't stop at Forest Lake Area High School as planned, after school leaders abruptly canceled the visit.  According to the Veterans for Freedom website, the National Heroes Tour "is about supporting our troops, honoring their commitment and rallying the country to complete the missions in Iraq and Afghanistan." Forest Lake High School principal Steve Massey says he canceled the planned appearance by the Vets for Freedom tour at the school because he didn't want politics in the classroom.  But the cancellation itself was apparently a response to political … (5 comments)

brainerd home staging: Who Is Barack - really? - 03/30/08 11:42 AM
While America has some experience with the Clinton's and Hillary specifically during her turn as First Lady and then later as New York Senator , we do not seem to be that familiar with Barack Obama. As many are now considering where to line up their loyalties and hence ultimately their vote - I have been doing some research.  People who are telling me that they are considering voting for Barack for President, say  it is because they view him as a candidate who will make changes.
Are the changes that Barack wants to make in line with your ideas … (38 comments)

brainerd home staging: Post Your Favorite Comfort Foods - 02/22/08 07:22 AM
I saw a poll that was being conducted for America's favorite foods and thought it would be fun to see how Active Rain members and readers rate their favorites. Food is often closely associated with memories and something may stand out because you ate it on your first date or your Grandmother always served it for Christmas. If you could list the food and then an explanation, (if there is one) then  it will probably be easier to understand your choice.
Since it is my idea - I will start:
Potatoes and gravy - why? I just like it

brainerd home staging: Stagers Have Bed Obsessions - 02/18/08 08:26 AM
That is right and I am telling!! You know I am right and it is time to own up to it. In an editors' meeting for the Real Simple magazine office, there was a discussion on beds.  They concluded that:
Only 1 in 7 people in the room knew how to make hospital corners (hint - it has nothing to do with pushing patients in the hallways)No one really knew what a neck roll was for nor what you would do with a neck roll (  use has nothing to do with choker necklaces)No one knew if a duvet was the … (30 comments)

He's baaaccckkkk. That is right -Elvis was here in Brainerd - singing and strutting his stuff and was last seen at the Bethany Good Samaritan Care Center entertaining the residents and staff members.  Elvis on most days can be found working as an engineer for  School District #181 on the South Campus. Once a year, you can catch him in the act at the Miss Brainerd Lakes pageant held in the Tornstrom auditorium in Brainerd.

brainerd home staging: Salisbury Steak - as Served in Minnesota - 02/01/08 10:58 AM
Here is what we are having at the Lordbock house for supper tonight.  With a warm up in temperatures today bringing us from -50  to 20 above - I'm working again and looking for something that makes it appear that I have been  in the kitchen cooking all day, when I have not.
This is quite tasty and does not take very long to prepare. I would classify this recipe in the comfort food range with the meat and potatoes being a sure winner with most people.
