help selling your home: October's Story
- 10/20/09 02:19 PM
October’s big Real Estate story will be the expiration of the $8,000 tax credit on November 30th for eligible first time homebuyers. Since most transactions are taking a minimum of 30 – 45 days to close after an offer is made, buyers who need financing will need to sign a purchase agreement by the end of October 2009 in order to close their loan by the Nov. 30 deadline. Buyers who are hoping to utilize the $8,000 tax credit should be only making offers on properties that are able to close quickly and do not require bank approval. We

help selling your home: Statue de la Liberte
- 07/04/09 03:01 AM
Today for the first time since 9-11, you can go to the top of the Statue of Liberty. "On that fateful day in 2001, she held her head high as she witnessed with her own eyes the horrors that took place just across from her watery home. Symbolism and sentimentality can be infinitely applid to her place in it all." I have never been up in the Statue but hope to at some point. There are lots of others who want to enjoy the "view from the crown" and tickets are sold out until November. Carefully planned down to the

The 4th of July is the most popular outdoor cooking holiday of the year. It is also an very busy time for emergency rooms and burn units. Make sure that you are ready to safely celebrate and cook up your summer feast. Using a Gas Grill? help selling your home: WHITE ON WHITE ON WHITE
- 03/10/09 11:32 AM
OK, so we are in the middle of another Minnesota snowstorm and I have white on my brain, Anyhu - here I go. A monochromatic background needs some skillful help to not be perceived as bland. Various shades of white with loads of textures will keep it interesting. Texture will add a dimension to an otherwise flat color scheme - now you see depth and definition. Keeping it still neutral - you can bring in organic materials from the natural world outside , which is quite plentiful here in Northern Minnesota and for the most part free. Some pieces of

This is the first in the series of quotes to start out your New Year with wit. The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of the blessings. The inherent blessing of socialism is the equal sharing of misery. -Winston Churchill The only difference between a tax man and a taxidermist is that the taxidermist leaves the skin. -Mark Twain The ultimate result of shielding men from the effects of folly is to fill the world with fools. -Herbert Spencer, English Philosopher (1820-1903) There is no distinctly Native American criminal class...save Congress. -Mark Twain

help selling your home: His Justice Can Not Sleep Forever
- 10/16/08 07:46 AM
Chuck Norris is a pretty cool guy. His shows had family oriented content, you clearly knew who the bad guys and the good guys were and the good guys always won. He is a conservative Hollywood star with 40 years in the business. He expresses concern about how the pool of conservative "tough guys" seems to be drying up in Hollywood. He also states that there are those like actor Gary Sinise and others who have been meeting quietly in restaurants and private homes, forming a loose-knit network of entertainers who share common beliefs like supporting U.S. troops and traditional

help selling your home: Christian Motto: Be Prepared - part 1
- 04/26/08 02:07 AM
I Peter 3:15 "But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have." What do you say to someone who asks you about your Christian Faith? Can you explain clearly and completely, who Jesus is and why your relationship with him gives you eternal hope and freedom? Peter encouraged believers to live in such a way that others would be drawn to them and ask questions. He stressed that they should have an answer ready for everyone who asked.

help selling your home: Lighting Up a Sale
- 03/28/08 11:55 AM
As stagers, we have all dealt with the cheap fake brass lighting fixtures that seemed to be so popular a few years back and are - shockingly- still being installed in houses today. Do these add to the ambiance of a home? Are they admired by visitors or ignored? Sometimes being ignored is a good thing in staging, but this is not a place to cut corners if you have a home in the middle to upper price points. Buying quality made light fixtures that match one another - in finish and style - can actually increase the resale

You are enjoying your job and things are going well - until a door slams shut, a deal falls through, a contract has loopholes and your client goes through them. You find yourself contemplating: becoming a hermit, taking a vacation permanently, going back to school and becoming a Climatologist. All these may be the correct choices for you, but you need to listen to others who are wiser and unemotionally involved in the situation. Don't be afraid or too proud to ask for advice. Find a good mentor and be one. "There is nothing wrong with holding an opinion and

help selling your home: 2007 Community Celebration in Brainerd Minnesota
- 10/09/07 02:54 AM
Instead of just having a one day high school homecoming event, this year Brainerd celebrated the week as a community. It didn't come close to our Fourth of July celebration, but that would be hard to compete with. I believe it to be the best in the State of Minnesota. Todd Lyscio, our Community Education Director was in charge of the event and had a lot of help to pull this one together. The parade on Saturday organized by Nancy Cross, had over 60 entries. Washington Educational Service Building held a memorabilia display on Friday. Both the Brainerd High School

help selling your home: Minnesota Home Stager Report - Is It Squeaky Clean?
- 09/10/07 04:36 AM
photo by JRGould I have not seen this term used for a while, but when I did - it brought on a blog. (I seem to have that reaction often, nowadays.) A key component that buyers are searching for is a home that is spotless and yes, squeaky clean. I believe that would be the noise a finger would make rubbing over a surface that has no dust or grime. Rarely does anyone achieve this high level of perfection in a home they live in, but it is to be a goal

help selling your home: Minnesota Home Stager Report-Bridge Collapses in Minneapolis, MN
- 08/02/07 05:19 AM
Bridge collapsing video As many of you have already heard, we have suffered loss here in Minnesota as a very busy highway bridge that spans the Mississippi river collapsed during rush hour. My daughter and I were just recently on that bridge on our way to shop at IKEA for some accessories for our booth at the county fair. The 8 lane Interstate 35W bridge, a major Minneapolis artery, was in the midst of repair and two lanes in each direction were closed. It was fortunate that the traffic was bumper to bumper as there wasn't the additional speed of moving

help selling your home: Mall of America Theme Park to get New Theme
- 07/28/07 09:49 AM
The Park at MOATM, is the largest indoor family amusement park in the nation. The park is home to seven acres of fun with more than 30 remarkable rides and attractions, nine mouth watering places to eat, plenty of entertainment and, of course, shopping. And now having once been Camp Snoopy, the theme park is about to change its name again. When completed in March of 2008, the park will be called the Nickelodean Universe. Nickelodean's licensed characters include SpongeBob SquarePants (my personal favorite), Dora the Explorer and Jimmy Neutron. They are all very appealing, I am sure, but Minnesota
