helping selling your home: A Buyers' Agent Is Just As Valuable As A Buyer To A Worthy Listing Agent - 07/21/10 03:14 AM

Not returning my phone calls. do not want to give me access into YOUR listings because you want a hogger?

Marketing to real estate agents is as important a task as marketing to potential buyers.  Co-broke agents are the crux of our business.  We love to see agents from near and far, and the further out they are from the better the chance of closing that buyer.  When an agent from Boston, or one of its suburbs, drives to Franklin, it's realistic to think that a reservation will follow.  Agents do not like to waste their time, nor do … (1 comments)

helping selling your home: Watch the Monthly Skinny in Real Estate MN - 03/12/10 03:03 PM
This is the skinny for the Twin Cities area of Minnesota. Other areas of the state vary greatly from the figures quoted for the Twin Cities. We are seeing some changes here - in pricing, sales and a small upward climb in interest rates. Seasonally we should be entering our best sales season - with another jump in the Fall right before winter comes upon us. … (5 comments)

helping selling your home: The Greater Lakes Market Update for February - 03/10/10 01:18 PM
Are you wondering how things are going in the real estate market in Central Minnesota? Things are moving and buyers are coming out of hibernation.
Despite the cold weather and heavy snow in February, buyers in the Greater Lakes region were very active during the month of February. There were 99 closed sales during the month, an increase of 23.8 percent from a year ago.     Home prices have shown early signs of stabilizing, but remain relatively soft. The February median sales price of $115,000 was a decrease from a year ago of 1.7 percent.     Soft prices have combined with extremely low mortgage … (7 comments)

helping selling your home: Considering a Move to China? - 01/02/10 03:21 AM
When I was young my friends and I were always "digging holes to China". We did not know how far away China was and we didn't care.  We just liked digging.
China is digging herself a hole now and firmly planting her feet in the sand. Even in a visit and speech from President Obama concerning Internet censorship, free speech was blocked online.
China has more than 250 Million Internet users and has some of the world's toughest content on what traffic is entering or leaving their network. There are some smart and rebellious Inernet savvy bloggers in … (4 comments)

helping selling your home: Put a Lid on IT! - 12/07/09 02:43 AM

When your home is for sale, things need to change in a big way.  If you want to leave the lid/seat on your toilet seat up - that is for you and your wife to work out.  However, when your home is listed and people are touring - the seat and lid need to be down.  Seems like a small matter and it is.  It is also only one of a list of things that need to be done to get your home the most showings, the most offers and sell in the shortest amount of time.      All … (9 comments)

helping selling your home: Minnesota Lawsuit Blocking Foreclosures Dismissed - 11/27/09 02:41 AM
A group of homeowners sought to block foreclosures in Minnesota, but their class action suit has been dismissed by US District Judge Ann Montgomery.  The lawsuit claimed that homeowners were not given proper notice when they were rejected on the right to appeal when dealing with the Home Affordable Modification Program.
The attorney for the homeowners stated that new regulations have been adopted since the lawsuit was filed in July that address some of the raised concerns but that the process is not as transparent as it should be.
What has your experience been working with this program?

helping selling your home: No Swimming For You but maybe Shark Watching? - 09/07/09 04:29 AM

Recent sightings of four great white sharks have prompted a swimming ban for the rest of the Labor Day weekend at some of the area's Oceanside beaches, including North Beach, Lighthouse Beach, South Beach and Harding Beach and Nauset Beach.
No swimming this Labor Day weekend and maybe for another month.  The Great White Sharks have moved in and are enjoying the ideal water temperatures and the abundant fresh food, in the form of seals.  They do not care if you planned a beach weekend retreat, are there on your first vacation in years, … (8 comments)

helping selling your home: Glow in the Dark? - 05/31/09 04:51 PM

The Women's Health Speaker Class was on breast cancer, a topic that has probably affected most families.  Dr Troy Duininck,  who gave an overview of cancer, stated that one in eight women get breast cancer and in 2007 there were 178,480 new breast cancer cases that were diagnosed.  He said that in Minnesota there were about 3000 new cases and that Brainerd St Joseph's hospital had 72. Duininck also said that 85-90% of breast cancer cases are not hereditary.
In my family my Grandmother, aunt and sister all had breast cancer. Doctors recommend that women have a mammogram … (10 comments)

helping selling your home: First 100 Days – What has He Done? - 04/29/09 04:26 AM
President Obama has swiftly moved the United States of America from our traditional American model of entrepreneurship and private initiative to something that quite closely resembles a European model of regulation and government control. He has the uncanny ability to get Congressional Democrats to give him things that will undermine their own power – they have 94% of the time in the House and 91% of the time in the Senate. His Economic Stimulus bill that was in fact a pay back for the liberal interest base and future vote buying cost those people who actually pay taxes $787 billion dollars and … (15 comments)

helping selling your home: Minnesota Home Staqer Report They said it - Part III - 12/31/08 02:15 AM
This is the last in the series of interesting quotes to start out your New Year with some wit.

Government is the great fiction, through which everybody endeavors to live at the expense of everybody else. -Frederic Bastiat, French Economist (1801-1850) Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it. -Ronald Reagan (1986) I don't make jokes. I just watch the government and report the facts.
-Will Rogers If you think health care is expensive … (21 comments)

helping selling your home: Minnesota Home Stager Report They said it - Part II - 12/31/08 02:12 AM
This is the second in the series of quotes to start out your New Year with some wit.

"If you don't read the newspaper  you are uninformed, if you do read the newspaper you are misinformed."
-Mark  Twain              Suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member of Congress.... But then I repeat myself
-Mark Twain               I contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying  to lift himself up by the handle..     -Winston  Churchill                      A  government which robs Peter to pay Paul … (2 comments)

helping selling your home: Selling Lower & Selling Slower - 11/22/08 01:33 PM
Homes are selling but they are not selling for as high a price nor are they selling as quickly.  Does that sound familiar in your area?
As a home stager with Re$ale Design & Home Staging, I know at least a partial solution to the problem. In order for your home to sell better and faster than those of the competitions' it needs to be properly presented and be priced competitively, from the start. A home that shows well both outside and inside is going to get offers.  When prospective buyers make an emotional connection with the home - … (14 comments)

helping selling your home: No One Left? - 10/25/08 08:35 AM
Quoting Martin Niemöller's famous poem in which he remembers how fragile our liberty is,

"The Nazi's came for the Communists and since he wasn't one, he did nothing. Then they came for the trade unionists, and he wasn't one, so he did nothing. Then they came for the Jews and the Catholics and he again did nothing. Then, when they finally came for him, there was no one left to defend him."

Do not buy the lies, DO NOT STAND BY and watch as your freedoms are taken away!

helping selling your home: The Deliverer - of Change? - 10/23/08 08:25 AM
Barack Hussein Obama has been "delivered to us" (in the words of MSNBC's Chris Matthews) as a kind of political savior who will end our national divisions, bind up our historical wounds, and infuse us with "hope" by delivering "change."
People desperate for "change" will do regrettable things. The people of Russia wanted change from the Romanov Czars. The people of Germany wanted change from the mess of the Weimar Republic -
they ended up with Hitler.
The people of Russia wanted change from the Romanov Czars -
they got Lenin and Communism.

The people of Cuba wanted … (5 comments)

helping selling your home: Warning - Stagers - Do Not Open Email from Kincaid Furniture & etc - 10/23/08 04:51 AM
A few days ago I was contacted by e-mail for a job with Kincaid Furniture as a Regional Manager for my area. Sounded interesting and I responded asking for more information. They got right back to me and the job was part time from home- taking checks from their customers, keeping accounts and then sending them the orders, etc.
At $2000 /month base pay and 10% of all sales it sounded good - too good, something was not right.  I Googled Kincaid and my area and sure enough they had furniture in 6 stores - all reputable.
     The e-mail … (16 comments)

helping selling your home: "Hillary Clinton Confirmed To Supreme Court" - 10/15/08 05:50 AM
Readers: This is mere speculation not fact, so do not panic yet.
"Hillary Clinton Confirmed To Supreme Court" Do you think that this is a plan in the works if Obama gets elected President? There was that little meeting with Bill and wouldn't it be fun to know where the conversation went that day.  Usually there is something offered in return for support - when warring sides meet.  Could this be it?

helping selling your home: Greenbean Side Dish in a Crock Pot - 10/06/08 06:40 AM
Thanksgiving is coming up and one of our traditional side dishes is the French Onion Greenbean dish. My double ovens are usually quite full, so I was happy to find a recipe for a similar dish made in a crockpot. I have not found too many people who do not eat this and it is always welcomed as part of our left over line up ( so I make a double recipe).  This would probably tote well to any event where you have to contribute a dish or score points at a tail-gating party.

helping selling your home: Gelato in Minnesota? Ya Betcha! - 08/14/08 11:09 AM
Minnesota is a dairy state and we all know the best places to get a scoop or a sundae. But gelato, you have to go to Italy, don't you? Minneapolitans are getting acquainted with the chilly treat, thanks to three enterprising brothers - Tim, Todd and Mike Pellezzer.  They opened two Italian scoop shops in Minneapolis named Sebastian Joe's in honor of their grandfather who practiced the art form in the Old Country.
There are many new flavors that Grandpa Joe never tried : banana yogurt, grapefruit-Campari sorbet and the favorite of most,  Pavarotti.  The Pavarotti mixes gourmet ice … (16 comments)

helping selling your home: Self Contained Bundles of Sunshine - 08/02/08 12:05 PM
Year around self-contained bundles of sunshine, holding a list of immune boosting nutrients and antioxidants that go well beyond a large dose of Vitamin C.  We are talking citrus, baby!  Even in the shortest, darkest most frigid Minnesota winter, citrus emerges in the produce departments.  Ruby Red Grapefruit, Meyer Lemons, Key Limes and Blood Oranges are a few of the favorites.  Easy to pack and go, even their colors please the eye.
Fairly long lasting (especially their faux counterparts) they also make excellent pops of color for home staging purposes.
Eat some and display the rest, you will have … (4 comments)
