minnesota home stager: This is a Great Safety Tip! - 07/29/09 02:06 AM
Tell your parents, your children, your friends, your clients, everyone you run across. Put your car keys beside your bed at night. If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to get in your house, just press the panic button for your car. The alarm will be set off, and the horn will continue to sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies.
Next time you come home for the night and you start to put your keys away, think of this: It's a security alarm system that you probably … (20 comments)

Homes are selling but they are not selling for as high a price nor are they selling as quickly.  Does that sound familiar in your area?
As a home stager with Re$ale Design & Home Staging, I know at least a partial solution to the problem. In order for your home to sell better and faster than those of the competitions' it needs to be properly presented and be priced competitively, from the start. A home that shows well both outside and inside is going to get offers.  When prospective buyers make an emotional connection with the home - … (14 comments)

minnesota home stager: The Apple Pie House - 10/26/08 10:34 AM
Most buyers are looking for a well-maintained house in apple pie order. They will be looking to buy as much house as they can get and still leave a little dough for changes to adapt things to their personal taste.  That doesn't mean that they will be looking to dive right into major home improvements, because they won't. The down payment on your home will take most of their savings.  After the monthly mortgage payments, taxes and insurance, there is no room in their budget for major repairs. Many buyers today will not consider a house that needs remodeling and … (13 comments)

minnesota home stager: His Justice Can Not Sleep Forever - 10/16/08 07:46 AM
Chuck Norris is a pretty cool guy.  His shows had family oriented content, you clearly knew who the bad guys and the good guys were and the good guys always won. He is a conservative Hollywood star with 40 years in the business. He expresses concern about how the pool of conservative "tough guys" seems to be drying up in Hollywood. He also states that there are those like actor Gary Sinise and others who have been meeting quietly in restaurants and private homes, forming a loose-knit network of entertainers who share common beliefs like supporting U.S. troops and traditional … (15 comments)

minnesota home stager: Art is What You Make Others See. - 10/13/08 10:06 AM
Staging is an art form. In viewing a prospective house to purchase, only ten percent of buyers can see what it could be. The other ninety percent can only see what is there. When a stager is able to convey how a family could live in the house - it is art. When a stager is able to demonstrate to others a lifestyle, cozy family times around the fireplace or reading a favorite book on the deck in the lazy days of summer - we have art. Can anyone create art - of course! Are some masterpieces and others quite elementary … (10 comments)

minnesota home stager: Minnesota's State Fish - 09/09/08 04:21 PM

If you ask most fishing people in the Brainerd Lakes area what their favorite fish to catch is, they will tell you the Walleye.  They make great eating and are good fighters on the end of a line. I am not much for fishing, but I agree on the eating part. Several area restaurants serve Walleye dinners.
Walleye are named for their big white eyes. Adult walleye are 13 to 20 inches long. Walleye weigh an average of 1 to 3 pounds, although some may weigh 10 pounds or more. Walleye can live 10-20 years. Walleye have sharp teeth. … (11 comments)

minnesota home stager: Minnesota Home Stager Report - You've Got them, Did You Keep Them? #3 in the series - 09/09/08 03:09 AM

In my previous blogs in this series, Curb Appeal is Not A Myth and After The Call, I addressed the value of  your on-line listing and the "first glance" impression of the property. Let us rewind this blog back to where the potential buyer arrives on the scene due to your excellent directions and prominently & permanently displayed address markers.  Your For Sale sign in the yard helps them find it as well.  However these do tend to disappear, are usually unattractive and do not add to the intrinsic value of the property.  At first glance, the prospective … (6 comments)

minnesota home stager: Minnesota Home Stager Report - After the Call - #2 in the Series - 08/29/08 05:30 AM
In Virtual Curb Appeal is Not a Myth, I discussed the MLS listing photos. Now a potential buyer has made the call to see a listing.  If they are like me, they will meet you there. On the way,  they will observe the neighborhood, traffic, parks, schools, etc.  All of these things are out of your control - it
is what it is.  Now, they have found the right house due to your excellent instructions and the address being prominently and permanently displayed on the maibox, fire number marker or the front door. All under your control!  Realtors' For Sale … (12 comments)

minnesota home stager: Minnesota Home Stager Report - Virtual Curb Appeal is NOT A Myth - #1 in the Series - 08/27/08 12:09 PM
According to the National Association of Realtors, 75% of people on the market to purchase a home begin their search on the Internet. Other sources put this figure closer to 85%.  It is only logical to determine then that exterior photos of your listing can instantly determine if buyers will take a second look.  Virtual curb appeal is a reality. Patchy unkempt lawns. peeling paint and poor or no photos will lose you potential buyers.  With so many houses for sale in any given neighborhood, it is crucial to invest dollars and or sweat. to get lookers inside the website.  … (5 comments)

minnesota home stager: Gelato in Minnesota? Ya Betcha! - 08/14/08 11:09 AM
Minnesota is a dairy state and we all know the best places to get a scoop or a sundae. But gelato, you have to go to Italy, don't you? Minneapolitans are getting acquainted with the chilly treat, thanks to three enterprising brothers - Tim, Todd and Mike Pellezzer.  They opened two Italian scoop shops in Minneapolis named Sebastian Joe's in honor of their grandfather who practiced the art form in the Old Country.
There are many new flavors that Grandpa Joe never tried : banana yogurt, grapefruit-Campari sorbet and the favorite of most,  Pavarotti.  The Pavarotti mixes gourmet ice … (16 comments)

Some of my friends are in China at the Olympics. What fun I think and here I am in Minnesota.  Then they send photos - I feel even worse, I am missing all the fun and the beauty. I watched the opening ceremonies on TV and was struck by the artistry and the cohesiveness of all the performers.  Their trim figures, glowing complexions and their endurance and flexibility. What do they eat , that gives them such strength?
Then I get more photos, which I am posting here. I love Minnesota and the food that we eat.  I can watch … (18 comments)

minnesota home stager: Minnesota Home Stager Report - The Good, The Bad and The Ugly - 08/02/08 10:44 AM
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly- which one of these terms best describe your property?  If it is going on the market - the bad and the ugly need to change.  I know change is hard and sometimes painful, but it is for the best.
You see, prospective buyers have the power to choose.  They will not choose the ugly with its outdated rust shag carpet, dark faux wood paneling and blue toilet. Why should they, when they can choose a pristine updated move- in ready good?
Surely they won't choose the bad, with a leaky … (9 comments)
