Here in sunny and now finally warm Minnesota we have had a fabulous past few days with record breaking warm termperatures. Note to sellers: Sellers need to take advantage of this break in the weather and spruce up the outside of the home. Add some mulch, pressure wash the exterior, clean the windows-replacing any broken glass, wash down the doors and scrape any chipping peeling paint and paint if needed. This week I joined the Miss Brainerd Lakes Scholarship pageant (MAO) contestants and their guests for a workshop on breast cancer. I have a strong family tie to the ugly disease and always am interested in the latest information. A young woman, Rachel, started out the workshop by telling her story. She had a double mastectomy in her 20's, so was a great motivator for these young women to start checking their breast health early on in life and to continue being proactive. Home sales in the Greater Lakes region in January were once again up compared to a year ago at 93 closed sales, an increase of 34.8 percent from a year ago. That's the fifth consecutive month where the change compared to a year ago has been positive. The increase in sales has led to stabilizing home prices. January's median sales price of $124,405 was 1.4 percent higher than a year ago.
