model home decorating: Looking For A Good Man
- 05/07/08 03:11 AM
This has to be one of the best singles ads ever printed. It is reported to have been listed in the Atlanta Journal. SINGLE BLACK FEMALE seeks male companionship, ethnicity unimportant. I'm a very good girl who LOVES to play. I love long walks in the woods, riding in your pickup truck, hunting, camping and fishing trips, cozy winter nights lying by the fire. Candlelight dinners will have me eating out of your hand. I'll be at the front door when you get home from work, wearing only what nature gave me. Call (404) 875-6420 and ask for Daisy, I'll be

model home decorating: Don't Fool With Minnesotans
- 05/02/08 05:10 PM
DON'T FOOL WITH MINNESOTANS After having dug to a depth of 10 meters last year, New York scientists found traces of copper wire dating back 100 years and came to the conclusion that their ancestors already had a telephone network more than 100 years ago. Not to be outdone by the New Yorkers, in the weeks that followed, California scientists dug to a depth of 20 meters, and shortly after, headlines in the California newspapers read: "California archaeologists have found traces of 200 year old copper wire and have concluded that their ancestors already had an advanced high-tech communications network a

model home decorating: Christian Motto: Be Prepared - part 2
- 04/26/08 03:00 AM
In part 1, we covered the verse I Peter 3:15 and learned about being prepared to talk about our faith and to have answers ready for other's questions. I often ask others about their beliefs and some will reply that they are "private - just between them and God". Clearly, Peter did not advocate such a response! Questions may come from a stranger on a long airplane flight or a relative at a funeral. A student of God's word will always be ready to explain the hope that others see in their life. Think about it and perhaps write it

model home decorating: Sweet Potato Fries at Home
- 04/22/08 02:43 AM
We often order Sweet Potato Fries when we are out, but haven't tried them at home. So I immediately jumped on this recipe when it was posted in our local newspaper. SWEET POTATO FRIES 2 tablespoons coriander 1 tablespoon oregano 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper 2 tablespoon salt 6 sweet potatoes Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Peel and cut sweet potatoes into fries about the size of Burger King fries. Place into a large bowl and sprinkle with a vegetable oil (could try olive). Next sprinkle seasoning over fries - you can alway add more later. Next, lay out on a pan. Make sure that they are

model home decorating: Minnesota Principal Whimps Out and Cancels National Heroes Tour
- 04/05/08 04:58 AM
A national tour featuring decorated veterans from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan didn't stop at Forest Lake Area High School as planned, after school leaders abruptly canceled the visit. According to the Veterans for Freedom website, the National Heroes Tour "is about supporting our troops, honoring their commitment and rallying the country to complete the missions in Iraq and Afghanistan." Forest Lake High School principal Steve Massey says he canceled the planned appearance by the Vets for Freedom tour at the school because he didn't want politics in the classroom. But the cancellation itself was apparently a response to political

model home decorating: Who Is Barack - really?
- 03/30/08 11:42 AM
While America has some experience with the Clinton's and Hillary specifically during her turn as First Lady and then later as New York Senator , we do not seem to be that familiar with Barack Obama. As many are now considering where to line up their loyalties and hence ultimately their vote - I have been doing some research. People who are telling me that they are considering voting for Barack for President, say it is because they view him as a candidate who will make changes. Are the changes that Barack wants to make in line with your ideas

model home decorating: Post Your Favorite Comfort Foods
- 02/22/08 07:22 AM
I saw a poll that was being conducted for America's favorite foods and thought it would be fun to see how Active Rain members and readers rate their favorites. Food is often closely associated with memories and something may stand out because you ate it on your first date or your Grandmother always served it for Christmas. If you could list the food and then an explanation, (if there is one) then it will probably be easier to understand your choice. Since it is my idea - I will start: Potatoes and gravy - why? I just like it lutefisk and

That is right and I am telling!! You know I am right and it is time to own up to it. In an editors' meeting for the Real Simple magazine office, there was a discussion on beds. They concluded that: Only 1 in 7 people in the room knew how to make hospital corners (hint - it has nothing to do with pushing patients in the hallways)No one really knew what a neck roll was for nor what you would do with a neck roll ( use has nothing to do with choker necklaces)No one knew if a duvet was the

According to recently released population projections, by the year 2020, there will be more adults age 65 or older than school age children in Minnesota. How will this affect the Brainerd Lakes area? How about the great and beautiful state of Minnesota? What about the United States as a whole? The Central Minnesota Council on Aging has developed Communities for a Lifetime. These are community coalitions consisting of senior service providers, older adults, law enforcement personnel, private businesses, elected officials and interested parties. The goal of Brainerd for a Lifetime is to inform and plan for how Brainerd can thrive

model home decorating: Teen Challenge WILL BE in Brainerd, MN
- 01/02/08 05:42 AM
Sunday, December 23rd , was a day of rejoicing for our church body when we burned the mortgage for our former church building on Business Highway 371 in Brainerd. Minnesota. The mortgage was paid off by an anonymous donor and then the building and 9 acres donated to Teen Challenge of Minnesota. It was an exciting day, especially for those of us who had been working intensely on the project both on and off the internet. Many meetings with people and God took place and I feel that God's will was done . We are grateful that there was no

model home decorating: Minnesota Home Stager Report - Children See, Children Do
- 09/10/07 12:22 PM
photo by haveyouseenthisgirl So often we think that we are getting away with something or that no one will notice. If you have children, they notice everything and mimic others. If you repeat an action often enough, it becomes a habit. So now your habits have become their habits, as well. How you react to a situation will be noted, internalized and stored there to help them when they encountered a similar situation. Not only are your outward physical actions being copied but your values, prejudices, & your evaluation system for making choices and judgments. My
