resale design: Prepare to be Cornmazed - 09/29/09 11:52 AM

Here in the Brainerd Lakes of Minnesota,  2 special corn fields have been silently growing and planning for the Fall.  Soon these innocent  looking fields will be sculpted and designed into twisty labyrinths for the sole purpose of making you walk in circles. You can spend an afternoon winding your way through the towering stalks and the evening on a hayride drinking cider.  There are special days for families with small children and appropriate age crafts.  Several nights will be for those who like a little excitement with their confusion.  Scary creatures will inhabit the maze ready to make … (10 comments)

resale design: Stage it - List it- Sell it - 06/30/09 03:13 AM
Homes are selling but they are not selling for as high a price nor are they selling as quickly.  Does that sound familiar in your area?
As a REALTOR/Staging Specialist home stager with Keller Williams Realty Brainerd Lakes, I know at least a partial solution to the problem. In order for your home to sell better and faster than those of the competitions', it needs to be properly presented and be priced competitively, from the start. A home that shows well both outside and inside is going to get offers.  When prospective buyers make an emotional connection with … (5 comments)

resale design: WHITE ON WHITE ON WHITE - 03/10/09 11:32 AM
OK, so we are in the middle of another Minnesota snowstorm and I have white on my brain,  Anyhu  - here I  go.
A monochromatic background needs some skillful help to not be perceived as bland.  Various shades of white with loads of textures will keep it interesting.  Texture will add a dimension to an otherwise flat color scheme - now you see depth and definition.  Keeping it still neutral - you can bring in organic materials from the natural world outside , which is quite plentiful here in Northern Minnesota and for the most part free.  Some pieces of … (20 comments)

resale design: Minnesota Home Staqer Report They said it - Part III - 12/31/08 02:15 AM
This is the last in the series of interesting quotes to start out your New Year with some wit.

Government is the great fiction, through which everybody endeavors to live at the expense of everybody else. -Frederic Bastiat, French Economist (1801-1850) Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it. -Ronald Reagan (1986) I don't make jokes. I just watch the government and report the facts.
-Will Rogers If you think health care is expensive … (21 comments)

"If you don't read the newspaper  you are uninformed, if you do read the newspaper you are misinformed."
-Mark  Twain              Suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member of Congress.... But then I repeat myself
-Mark Twain               I contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying  to lift himself up by the handle..     -Winston  Churchill                      A  government which robs Peter to pay Paul … (2 comments)

This is the first in the series of quotes to start out your New Year with wit.
The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of the blessings. The inherent blessing of socialism is the equal sharing of misery.      -Winston Churchill                  The only difference between a tax man and a taxidermist is that the taxidermist leaves the skin.     -Mark  Twain                         The ultimate result of shielding men from the effects of folly is to fill the world with fools.    -Herbert Spencer, English  Philosopher (1820-1903)                There is no distinctly Native American criminal class...save Congress.   -Mark  Twain  … (2 comments)

resale design: Are You Thankful? - 11/30/08 01:28 PM
The early Americans were acutely aware that all they had was given to them by the hand of God.  Whether they were in times of good and plenty or suffering through hardships, drought or war - they gave thanks to God for all that He provided and for all that He was.
America's history is deeply rooted in faith in God.  Many today are threatened by that faith.  They want to rewrite history and downplay God as just one of many things that some people seem to take comfort in believing. After all they think there are many roads … (10 comments)

resale design: The Deliverer - of Change? - 10/23/08 08:25 AM
Barack Hussein Obama has been "delivered to us" (in the words of MSNBC's Chris Matthews) as a kind of political savior who will end our national divisions, bind up our historical wounds, and infuse us with "hope" by delivering "change."
People desperate for "change" will do regrettable things. The people of Russia wanted change from the Romanov Czars. The people of Germany wanted change from the mess of the Weimar Republic -
they ended up with Hitler.
The people of Russia wanted change from the Romanov Czars -
they got Lenin and Communism.

resale design: Warning - Stagers - Do Not Open Email from Kincaid Furniture & etc - 10/23/08 04:51 AM
A few days ago I was contacted by e-mail for a job with Kincaid Furniture as a Regional Manager for my area. Sounded interesting and I responded asking for more information. They got right back to me and the job was part time from home- taking checks from their customers, keeping accounts and then sending them the orders, etc.
At $2000 /month base pay and 10% of all sales it sounded good - too good, something was not right.  I Googled Kincaid and my area and sure enough they had furniture in 6 stores - all reputable.
     The e-mail … (16 comments)

resale design: "Hillary Clinton Confirmed To Supreme Court" - 10/15/08 05:50 AM
Readers: This is mere speculation not fact, so do not panic yet.
"Hillary Clinton Confirmed To Supreme Court" Do you think that this is a plan in the works if Obama gets elected President? There was that little meeting with Bill and wouldn't it be fun to know where the conversation went that day.  Usually there is something offered in return for support - when warring sides meet.  Could this be it?

resale design: Greenbean Side Dish in a Crock Pot - 10/06/08 06:40 AM
Thanksgiving is coming up and one of our traditional side dishes is the French Onion Greenbean dish. My double ovens are usually quite full, so I was happy to find a recipe for a similar dish made in a crockpot. I have not found too many people who do not eat this and it is always welcomed as part of our left over line up ( so I make a double recipe).  This would probably tote well to any event where you have to contribute a dish or score points at a tail-gating party.

resale design: Minnesota Home Stager Report - You've Got them, Did You Keep Them? #3 in the series - 09/09/08 03:09 AM

In my previous blogs in this series, Curb Appeal is Not A Myth and After The Call, I addressed the value of  your on-line listing and the "first glance" impression of the property. Let us rewind this blog back to where the potential buyer arrives on the scene due to your excellent directions and prominently & permanently displayed address markers.  Your For Sale sign in the yard helps them find it as well.  However these do tend to disappear, are usually unattractive and do not add to the intrinsic value of the property.  At first glance, the prospective … (6 comments)

resale design: Minnesota Home Stager Report - After the Call - #2 in the Series - 08/29/08 05:30 AM
In Virtual Curb Appeal is Not a Myth, I discussed the MLS listing photos. Now a potential buyer has made the call to see a listing.  If they are like me, they will meet you there. On the way,  they will observe the neighborhood, traffic, parks, schools, etc.  All of these things are out of your control - it
is what it is.  Now, they have found the right house due to your excellent instructions and the address being prominently and permanently displayed on the maibox, fire number marker or the front door. All under your control!  Realtors' For Sale … (12 comments)

resale design: Minnesota Home Stager Report - Virtual Curb Appeal is NOT A Myth - #1 in the Series - 08/27/08 12:09 PM
According to the National Association of Realtors, 75% of people on the market to purchase a home begin their search on the Internet. Other sources put this figure closer to 85%.  It is only logical to determine then that exterior photos of your listing can instantly determine if buyers will take a second look.  Virtual curb appeal is a reality. Patchy unkempt lawns. peeling paint and poor or no photos will lose you potential buyers.  With so many houses for sale in any given neighborhood, it is crucial to invest dollars and or sweat. to get lookers inside the website.  … (5 comments)

resale design: Christian Motto: Be Prepared - part 1 - 04/26/08 02:07 AM

I Peter 3:15
"But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have."
What do you say to someone who asks you about your Christian Faith?  Can you explain clearly and completely, who Jesus is and why your relationship with him gives you eternal hope and freedom?
Peter encouraged believers to live in such a way that others would be drawn to them and ask questions.  He stressed that they should have an answer ready for everyone who asked.
