Okay Active Rain, this is a rant from a non-ranter!! A few years ago I started the Newbie Group, here at Active Rain. At that time I was able to see posts for weeks and weeks. I always thought that the Newbie Group would be a great place to save all the wonderful how to posts that the Active Rain members created throughout the years. The whole point of the newbie group was to help newbies!!!!!

active rain: Simple steps to blogging in Active Rain

Many of you do not know me here on Active Rain because I have not been blogging as regularly as one needs to do to keep on top of Google. However, this morning, as I reflected on what I needed to do to get back at the top of Google ( a place that I held for over a year) in my home state of Rhode Island, it occurred to me that new Active Rainer's are probably in a state of confusion. I just recently read a very thought provoking article in More Magazine regarding home ownership and Single Women. It included a statistic from the NAR that Single women represented 21% of all buyers in 2005 and they bought at twice the rate of Single men! 21%! Thats a lot of Single Woman Homeowners! The writer of the article, Lisa Scwarzbaum, Entertainment Weekly Critic, tells us all the reasons why she was unable to make the move to homeownership. Some of her reasons, while sounding comical are also very valid. And some I added myself.

active rain: Categories........and Subcategories at Active Rain

There have been many blogs lately that do not fit the usual categories here on Active Rain. I know this (AR) is still in beta stage, but I also know that this site is similar to a large Filing cabinet. If we do not get our blogs filed correctly, we will be swamped with e-rain. I don't know how the rest of you do your filing, but I have, on occasion, been overloaded with paperwork and undecided as to where I should be filing everything. I can see this starting to happen here on Active Rain.

Happy Thanksgiving to all. It's the eve of Thanksgiving and a time to reflect on all the good things that have happened to us throughout the year. It's a time to give to people who do not have the good fortune that we have, be it financial, family, friends or fortitude. I have to say that I have really enjoyed blogging and commenting here on Active Rain. I have met new people, made friends with some, acquainted with others. Some have inspired me and some have taught me. I have disagreed with some and championed others. All in all, it has been a very good year … (49 comments)

Do you have a Rain Widow at home? How do you handle all the time you spend on Active Rain and other blogs? I have a laptop which I keep with me now as we are watching TV (together). Every once in awhile he comments with a smirk "Are you on Active Rain again?". Of course I can't always be on AR. I do need to work. That's the whole point of this isn't it?
