The Bard's oft-quoted line is from his famous play Romeo and Juliet, about star-crossed lovers who unfortunately fall in love with people from the houses of their enemies.
 
Teenage Juliet (a Capulet) falls in love with fellow teen Romeo (a Montague). Sadly, the Capulets and Montagues are eternally feuding enemies. (Think along the lines of the Hatfields and McCoys or rival gangs such as the Bloods and Crips.) Their love love story ends in tragedy and death.

Yet it's difficult to imagine the scent of a sworn (and inherently stinky) enemy would ever smell as sweet as a freshly fragrant red rose.
Shakespeare's line is from Romeo and Juliet, the famous play about star-crossed lovers who have the misfortune to love ones from the houses of their enemies.
Juliet (a Capulet) loves Romeo (a Montague); the houses of Capulet and Montague are sworn and eternally feuding families. (Think along the lines of Hatfields and McCoys or Bloods and Crips.) Montague being "the wrong sort" … (2 comments)
