michelle carr crowe: How Much Do You Know About Juneteenth June 19? - 06/19/19 12:36 PM
Juneteenth, also known as Emancipation Day, is an American holiday celebrating the elimination of slavery. It is always held on June 19th.
Back on this date in 1862,  U.S. Congress prohibited slavery in the United States and territories, nullifying Dred Scott v. Sandford.
Due to the isolation of Texas from many of the other states (and the lack of the Internet!) it wasn't until 1865 that slaves in Galveston, Texas were finally informed of their freedom.
Since then, the anniversary of this formal announcement of freedom is officially celebrated in Texas and 41 other contiguous states on June 19 annually as Juneteenth.

michelle carr crowe: Stop and Smell the Roses June 12 is Red Rose Day - 06/12/19 12:41 PM
"A rose by any other name would smell just as sweet..."
the great poet Shakespeare wrote.
Yet it's difficult to imagine the scent of a sworn (and inherently stinky) enemy would ever smell as sweet as a freshly fragrant red rose.
Shakespeare's line is from Romeo and Juliet, the famous play about star-crossed lovers who have the misfortune to love ones from the houses of their enemies.
Juliet (a Capulet) loves Romeo (a Montague); the houses of Capulet and Montague are sworn and eternally feuding families. (Think along the lines of Hatfields and McCoys or Bloods and Crips.) Montague being "the wrong sort" … (2 comments)

michelle carr crowe: Today's Surprising Real Estate Fact-Homestead Act 1862 - 05/20/19 09:16 PM
Schoolchildren in the United States learn about American history, including the Homestead Act.
Yet most people fail to realize the life-changing Homestead Act of 1862 occurred during the American Civil War.
While in 1861 the state of North Carolina seceded from the union, the next year President Abraham Lincoln signed into law the Homestead Act.
Essentially, the Homestead Act allowed settlers to file a claim for acres of land, and required the pioneers to essentially subjucate the land by clearing timber, planting trees and crops and building a structure to live in. Pioneers had to live in this structure for a certain percentage of time every year for … (0 comments)

Have you thanked a tree yet? May 16 is National Love a Tree Day,
Trees provide shade, fruit, oxygen and stability for our soil. May 16 is a today to celebrate and show love, care and appreciation of trees. Hug a tree, walk amongst trees and thank trees for the fresh air they provide. I thank God for making trees for us to enjoy.

What a great day to enjoy the outdoors! National Take A Walk In The Park Day occurs annually on March 30th.  After a long busy day, a calming and therapeutic way to relax is a pleasant walk in the park.
Taking a walk at a local park is an excellent way to clear one’s mind from the stresses of the day, re-energize body and soul while simultaneously improving one's health.
During a walk, the opportunity to capture a beautiful photograph, compose an original poem, or have an uninterrupted conversation may arise.  The chance to lose track of time and run into a familiar face could … (12 comments)

I hope this message on going from messing to blessing inspires and gives you hope today.

Wealth is the Ability to Fully Experience Life
-A Quote by Henry David Thoreau
by Silicon Valley REALTOR Michelle Carr Crowe
Who doesn't want to be truly wealthy? Wealth is savoring and enjoying the moment of life one is presently in right now, as the American poet Henry David Thoreau said.
Not worrying about the future.
Not regretting the past.
Not fearing what others think of me today.
Regardless of the amount of money in one's pockets or accounts, God gives each of us the ability to choose to live wealthy by fully experiencing the moments of our lives.
