september 17: History of September 17 Citizenship Day - 09/17/19 10:41 AM
Why is September 17 "Citizenship Day"?
Also known as Constitution Day, way back in time, the U.S. Constitution was completed, signed and approved on September 17, 1787.
In 1952, President Harry Truman signed a bill designating September 17 as Citizenship Day. The intent of Citizenship Day/Constitution Day is to recognize people who become American citizens during that year.
So to all new 2019 American citizens, "Happy Citizenship Day!"
And to all other Americans, "Happy 232nd Constitution Day!"
Thanks for reading "History of September 17 Citizenship Day".
