Pay Down That Principal First
By Michelle Carr-Crowe, Silicon Valley guide and San Jose home selling expert
Paying the first of the typical three hundred and sixty payments on a thirty-year mortgage can leave borrowers feeling overwhelmed, wondering how and if they will be able to pay it all off.
While financial guru Dave Ramsey advocates all borrowers incur the shortest time and smallest amount of house debt, in my opinion, a 30-year mortgage is still better than a 15-year mortgage for most San Jose, Cupertino and Saratoga homeowners.

With either a 30-year mortgage or a 15-year mortgage, borrowers … (5 comments)

More San Jose, Cupertino & Saratoga Home Breakthrough Pre-Crash Prices
by Michelle Carr Crowe, Silicon Valley guide and real estate home selling expert
Today's San Jose Mercury News headline from journalist Pete Carey (pcarey@mercurynews.com) notes Rising home values push more Bay Area homes above water, Zillow says.
Now as Zillow itself only claims it's Zestimates are within a 20 percent range (up or down) on most home values, readers should consider the source when determining value. A reputable real estate consultant will gladly provide a free market analysis to determine current market value.

However, real estate consultants writing offers for home buyers in … (3 comments)

Good News Today for California Homeowners in Multi-State Mortgage Deal
This is some good news for the California Homeowners who've persevered to get their loans modified and principal reduced under the Multi-State Mortgage Settlement.
If you're unfamiliar with it, California Attorney General Kamala Harris held out for a special "California commitment" from three of the six banks involved -- Wells Fargo, JP Morgan Chase and Bank of America -- which led to increasing the state's share of the settlement.
On behalf of California homeowners, thank you Ms. Kamala Harris.
"About 41 percent of the relief so far has gone to Californians," said Katherine … (1 comments)

Get $20 of Yummy Scrambl'z Food in San Jose for $10-Buy it Today
by Michelle Carr Crowe
Scrambl'z on Almaden Expressway is one of our favorite restaurants. The food is delicious and generously portioned, and even better, there's a positive, upbeat atmosphere throughout.
It's the closest to a Disneyland experience I've found locally, and those of you who know me, know that's high praise. Pricing is reasonable for the portions.
A basic  omelette or scramble is about $10-12 and includes 2 yummy choices of about a dozen delicious sides, including fresh strawberries with HOME-MADE whipped cream, "angry" potatoes, pancakes and more.

Fun Facts to Test Yourself With About Presidents Day February 18, 2013
By Michelle Carr-Crowe, San Jose real estate agent specializing in Cupertino Schools homes for sale
Most Silicon Valley, Calif. residents enjoy taking Presidents Day off, especially if they get  paid to do so. Known as both President’s Day and Presidents’ Day, (notice the difference in the placement of the apostrophe), it celebrates American heritage, specifically, the birth of George Washington, the “Father of Our Country”, as well as Abraham Lincoln, the “Great Emancipator” of the slaves.
This year Presidents Day falls on February 18, 2013.
Adults who attended school during the 1960’s can … (7 comments)
