Are you waiting for housing prices in Asheville to slow down this year?   Well, it seems you may be waiting for a while longer.  Single-family home sales from April to June (Q2) continued to reach record highs, with high demand from buyers, for a limited supply of homes on the market.  
There were 501 homes sold in Asheville during the 2nd quarter, as the median sales price continued to rise to a record-breaking $319,000!   This represents nearly a 14% increase over sales the same time last year.

The majestic mountains surrounding Asheville are the main attraction for so many who choose to live here.  However, the mountainous terrain often makes it difficult to find land that is suitable to build on, largely due to steep slopes or natural landscapes, such as boulders, creeks, etc.  I've been known to advise buyers that I can find them a flat, easy-to-build lot for their house right in between the unicorn and the leprechaun in the woods!   While this may be an exaggeration, the fact remains that as building continues across Western NC,  much of the land will require extensive site work to make … (0 comments)

The housing market in Asheville, NC is exploding. Sales of single-family homes in the area have already have exceeded sales from the first quarter of last year. Surrounding counties in Western North Carolina have seen similar increases in home prices.   The demand to live in WNC only continues to grow.

Looking at sales in the first quarter of 2017, the data clearly show the rising costs of buying a home in Asheville.  Most notably, the median sales price of a single family home in the City of Asheville has now surpassed $300,000 for the first time ever!
