renton wa: Renton Farmer's Market 2015 - 06/24/15 02:12 AM
Renton Farmers Market 2015June 23, 2015 - Kids Talent DayAfter a day in Seattle I’m headed home and driving through downtown Renton. It’s Tuesday and I’ll be stopping by the Farmer’s Market to pick up some fresh fruit and vegetables.
Most of everything is a little early this year because of the exceptionally sunny and warm spring we had this year in the Pacific Northwest. One of the venders was saying we’re already midway through the strawberry season. Today was exceptional for berries, I bought raspberries and blueberries, and the cherries are outstanding this week. My favorite is the Rainier Cherry./p>

renton wa: Remembering My Friend Dan - 04/20/14 08:17 AM
I met Dan back in 1965, I was 15. It was the summer before my sophomore year at Renton High. I don’t remember details except John, a bass player I knew, invited me to a party across town in Sierra Heights.
The band I was in just broke up. Well, that’s how they put it, but actually I think I got the boot because they regrouped in the fall and I didn’t get the call. Anyhow, a jam session sounded fun.
John was a little older than me and had a car. When we arrived there were already a dozen or … (25 comments)

renton wa: Give me Liberty... And, a good cup of coffee! - 05/18/12 12:35 PM
Met my friend Gary for coffee this morning at the Liberty Cafe. I confess, I’ve driven by a thousand times but haven’t stopped. Meant to, but haven’t. Well... this morning I’m glad we did.
It’s just a tiny little indie place in old downtown Renton. I left so happy just knowing a place like this still exists. We were having a great conversation and since it is a small and intimate space, the whole local clientele ended up in our conversation which totally added to the morning’s fun.

I love the ambience. It’s very reminiscent of little cafes and coffee … (6 comments)

renton wa: Happy Birthday Dad... - 08/19/11 03:01 PM
Dad would have been 90 years old today. He was born in Newcastle, Washington in 1921 in a coal mining camp. The second son to George and Pauline Fabre. As a young boy he was inspired to be an accordion player like his Uncle Pete Delaurenti. That was in the midst of the Great Depression and money was scarce. But his Grandma Céline Boulanger believed in him, bought the accordion, and helped him pay for lessons.
Like all boys, there were times I wanted to be just like him, and times I didn't (especially in the 60's during the English Invasion). … (14 comments)

renton wa: I'm Gonna Wave My Freak Flag High... - 09/19/10 09:26 AM
I owe a huge debt of gratitude to my next door neighbor, Cheryl. She was 3 or 4 years ahead of me in school and even though I was a punk kid to her we shared a special connection; we both played the French horn. We also shared a huge curiosity for the changes starting to take place in pop music. I spent many wonderful hours in her home listening to vinyl records on her portable record player.
Cheryl had a friend in England that would send her the latest UK releases. Because of her I was one of the first in … (17 comments)

renton wa: Flu Shots Here Today with Bleach 99¢ - 08/28/10 02:11 PM
Saturday chores, grocery shopping, pick up my shirts at the cleaners, etc. Headed downtown Renton and looked up at the intersection. I did a double take.
What did that sign say?

So I can avoid this season's flu, and the bleach does what for me? And, if I buy the Arizona Tea I get the flu shot 2 for $1.00? Did I get that right?

renton wa: Renton Farmers Market - 08/17/10 03:13 PM
It’s Tuesday afternoon in Renton, Washington, and the Renton Farmers Market runs from June through September. Every Tuesday from 3:00 to 7:00 PM over 50 local vendors and farmers setup their white tents and offer fresh cut flowers, jams and jellies, fresh herbs, roasted corn on the cob, local fruits and vegetables, farm fresh meats, and more. There's also live music, local chef's giving cooking presentations, with activities and goodies for the little ones.

The Market is located at the Piazza, a beautiful small urban park built a few years ago in the heart of old downtown Renton. It’s a … (7 comments)

renton wa: Keeping your online presence manageable and in step - part 2 of 3 - 09/30/09 01:16 PM
It’s important that we aren’t just blowing our own horn all the time. When we participate through conversation in communities like Active Rain we’re not only creating relationship with each other, we’re building a rapport with the search engines. Our relevance on line is greatly influenced by others chiming in about us.

In part one... keeping-your-online-presence-manageable-and-in-step-part-1
we talked about the ubiquitous way of social media marketing. Here in part two we’ll continue this line of inquiry and talk about how the dynamics of group can bolster your ranking.
There’s power in numbers!
Simply put, search engines like Google are … (8 comments)
